Meanwhile there's hundreds of abandoned strip-malls throughout the valley, some of which have been that way for decades. Plenty of better locations to build/repurpose - this is just a "throw it up cheap and embezzle the rest" job.

"Europeans would NEVER do that to their ancestors." They can and have, many times. Hell, some parts of Europe have grave robbing as a major source of black market goods. Also, MUCH of modern Europe is built on ruins (yes, including building over burial grounds) History shows when times are hard or when people have enough to gain, people of most cultures and society will go grave robbing and/or otherwise defile the tombs of their ancestors. China, Egypt, and Eastern Europe are all places that are or have been notorious for it in the past.

What upsets me is in America most contractors tell there workers not to say anything just keep digging. Most parts of the world naturally want to preserve there ancient history. Not us we are like screw it keep business flowing. It bothers me because America's history is a big mystery when it comes to history before the native Americans. In Scandinavia, that’s Norway and Sweden and Denmark. If it’s not in a major city, you’re absolutely right. However, I’m challenged to believe that that this was a renovation in the center of Stockholm , , Copenhagen or Oslo, they would stop the project. I’m sure what they would do a temporary stoppage & relocate the artifacts and remains to another location and then continue with the project. This is how Europeans have been doing business since recorded time.

Phoenix was founded by reusing and upgrading the original canals of the hohokam. The early settlers had to clear brush and flatten the mounds that were left behind to make irrigated fields. The settlers knew the mounds were hohokam sites but had to be removed for agriculture. Today, developers are in the same position.
Everything needs to rest. Beautiful history is torn down every day in NYC and the people who live here feel the same sense of powerlessness and heartbreak.
what were the tribe given as compensation?
Should bring professionals in and document every piece and where it was located etc. then move to. Museum
There’s a movie called Poltergeist that shows this is a bad idea
Highways and housing has always been a way to red line
Yes keep fighting for this we do not need more housing especially in a beautiful place of ancestors
you know what I’m here because of my ancestors but that didn’t stop them from tearing my grandpa’s house down so yeah…
Can you feel t/ 🌬 knocking on your 🚪?
You took the check
Well the developers should have dug down deeper before they pored one foot of cement. That is why we do that in California. Ancient sites are everywhere let alone contamination sites, but when they are that far along it will proceed. Until the ghost make their selves present 😮😮😮😮
These cities are notorious for building housing developments, right on top of cemeteries….
I’ve lived there before the flats were knocked down, they had the chapel and a plaque dedicated to the people that lived and were buried there. Ain’t right.

This was also an issue in imperial beach at the old kumeyaay burial grounds near the silver strand. The military and government will still build and prosper without a care in the world when it comes to the deceased. In upstate New York theres cemeteries everywhere and guess what, they're all protected because they were mostly white men who fought for our country but there are natives laying to rest in the knolls and those burial grounds are so disconnected with the rest of the world war grave sites that they've literally left them in vein! It's sad. I was out there cleaning up and had got drawn on by locals on the hill in Washington, NY near Elmira. I was chased off and treated unfairly. Sucks because the ones who fought for our freedom are shown no respect if they weren't white. Not always but when it comes to natives or "engines" they really look the other way with neglect!
They need to use the building resources to build farm homes, businesses, wind generators so they don't have let as much water out of the lakes, and canals systems to community without running water in the Rio Verde communities. Plus a water treatment facility and storage wells for the treated water.

I don’t know why Arizona keeps saying these apartments are for low income. There is no such thing as low income $1600 is the new low income.
