    PEANUT Yes for Deakins. As elated as I was for James Ivory winning Adapted Screenplay for "Call Me by Your Name", I was holding my breath with trepidation that Deakins was gonna get screwed over again (and if he'd lost for "Blade Runner 2049", a movie that's literally a 3 hour cinematography course...) and screamed in excitement when Sandra Bullock announced his name.

    @@brunojsaisplus9352There was another important Italian composer - Nino Rota (his music can be heard in Fellini's films). And another was Piero Umiliani, with very sophisticated music up to the amusing Mah na mah na, composed for a silly B-series film. I'm sure that in the history of cinema there have been wonderful authors in the USA and elsewhere, but the few really good Italians were truly excellent.

    Maestro made a super fun score for “My Name is Nobody” that I always sing in my head 😂 (Side note, I like the alternate title “Once Upon a Time… The Revolution” to go with the other 2 in the trilogy. I believe Serio liked it more as well, but studios were lame back then) All of these titles are fantastic though. Unreal how many great movies Ennio has scored!

    He should have got an oscar long time ago for his masterpieces like, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Malèna, Cinema Paradiso, Casualties of War, The Mission, Once Upon A Time In The West/America, The Untouchables and many more. 5 oscar-nominations, only a honorary award and 83 wins from other award commissions...91 other nominations (And that`s a lot), and finally (I think because of Tarantino, who makes wonderful movies) he gets one for The Hateful Eight. The man is a master in his moviemusic, he deserved many oscars for almost every movie from Leone. Requiescat in pace Maestro. You were my favorite composer..†

    He got that Oscar for Hateful 8 and he had received an honorary Oscar years before, so he has 2 :) The first time he travelled to America was when he got his first honorary Oscar.

    LEGEND! He is just so amazing and seemed so moved. Also really loved to see him hug John Williams and acknowledge him in his speech. :) My two favorite composers and I really love both the Hateful Eight and Force Awakens scores. Both are in their 80s and still kicking ass!

    Yes I agree. But maestro Morricone looked alot frailer here than I remember him in 2012 when I saw and heard him conduct a 2 and a half hour program of his own music at Adelaide in Australia.

    Age has caught up with him but it would have been tragic if he was too frail to receive the award personally. It is also sad that he didn't win before for his other masterpieces, hateful 8 wasn't his best work. It is like they had no choice but to give it to him to make up for the past.

    My father and I watched "Two Mules for Sister Sarah" today, my father is an old man to be a father and since I was young my father introduced me to all the bang bang spaghetti films that he knows and love, and most of them Ennio was present with his fantastic soundtrack. Ennio is my favorite composer since I was 14, today I am 24 and my father 76, thank God for being my father's son. RIP Ennio the best composer of 20th/21st century and the favorite of my bloodline.
