Who writes the questions for the enneagram tests? How many different tests are there? How are the tests graded and interpreted? How does your enneagram identity help you to love others and God? Just some questions to think about.

I just wanna say Thank you Lord Jesus for Matt Brown for being real, and honest to us all. I have just started attending Sandels. Matt's realness has opened my eyes to how I have lied to myself even helping me realize sins in my life I didn't even know I had inside me. Matt you are the bravest man of God I know!!! But what I would change about you is NOTHING! Just keep being you! God bless all you believers. Let's all just be REAL with ourselves.

Honesty would involve researching the "science" behind The Enneagram www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/people-are-strange/201909/when-personality-test-results-are-wrong-feel-so-right Or as another former Enneagram student said: "Claim: It seems the Enneagram is true. Response: The only reason to believe something is because it is true. The claims made by the Enneagram about the nature of personality and reality are testable and falsifiable. If after testing the claims, no evidence is found to support them and evidence mounts against the claim, then one can conclude it is untrue. Although some repeat the claim it is a useful tool, there is no compelling evidence to bolster any of the central claims of the Enneagram: that the personality types exist, a primary emotional response drives behavior or that it exists at all, likewise that there is a basic desire or need at the foundation of the personality, that the healthy to unhealthy levels of personality exist as described, that personalities are connected to one another and have “wings” or complementary personality types, or that there are levels of integration and disintegration or stress for each personality. These claims are not supported by rational inquiry or scientific evidence and experiment. Assuming it is true, it should be logically consistent, internally coherent, and not self-contradictory. The Enneagram however is full of contradictions and concepts which do not fit together in a way that makes sense to the mind, heart or gut. The vague and confusing nature of the Enneagram is indeed a sign of its falsehood. " As an illustration of what he meant by concepts which don't fit together we turn to actual Psychologist Jay Medenwaldt: "One study had participants organize the types based on similarities and the results showed vastly different organizations from how the types are actually organized according to the enneagram. More research needs to be done here, but it does seem to suggest that even if the types are valid, the organization of them on the circle may simply be arbitrary." And: "[A]ccording to the Enneagram, my sin as a 5 is avarice (hoarding); however, of all the sins listed for the 9 types, this is probably the one I struggle [with] the least! Ironically, the sin I probably struggle with most is associated with 7s (although the sins of 1s and 2s are about equal), which is the direction I am supposed to move when I am "healthy."" www.jaymedenwaldt.com/2019/01/the-enneagram-science-and-christianity.html?m=1 This will hold true for most of the population. If you think it's accurate, it's just as likely you're engaging in "self-verification" where you're so convinced your "type" is true you start to act it out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-verification_theory

Im a 3 so I'm saying this with grace... but do you realize that your joke about Mike Pence was an extremely 3 thing to do- you were name dropping. You found a way to mention this story that boosts your image... you met these famous people and were in the White House. But seriously good message. I loved thinking about the rich young ruler as a 3. I mean that story has always resonated with me but never realized why. And I have ALWAYS struggled with trying to "earn" my salvation. I never associated that with being a three (even though I've known my enneagram for years)

Deceit is when you lie to yourself, and believe it and then we believe it. Three can be a changeling, completely changes when false, like the salesman. Beautifully...VERACITY/truth is their virtue. No one can tell the truth better than a mature 3. Jim Carey is a six, but an immature six, a six moves to three when immature, so Carey seems three-ish. Awesome sermon on 3 type!! KNEW it would because I knew pastor was a 3, so thank you for your honesty and humor!

This is so good! I’m a 3 and I’ve done crazy stuff in the past to look like I’m super successful. Nice car out of high school. running laps, I try and out run everyone. Was a best man in a wedding so I took out a loan to have a great bachelor party for everyone and look like I had money. Birthday rented a yacht for the day to impress people I didn’t even know. As I’ve gotten older, learning to be HUMBLE and not live in the future all the time. I would work 90 hour weeks. Always stay late. Me and my ex split because of how I focused so hard on work or work around the house and she try and talk to me or text me and I’d say I’m busy because I’m so driven when working that nothing else matters. I still fight a lot of this. A lot of what this guy is saying hit so hard with me. Any other 3 reading this, don’t forget to work on your family! I only see my daughter a couple times a week now. It freaking sucks! Stay smart and stay blessed!

God teaches us through the Bible, which is the only tool we need. Proverbs 30:6 warns us, "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar." The enneagram is strongly associated with New Age philosophy and has occultic origins. The man credited with introducing the enneagram to the West is George Gurdjieff. Gurdjieff was a mystic, philosopher, and spiritual teacher immersed in occultic practices such as astrology, mental telepathy, spiritism, fortune telling, and posession. One of his followers Oscar Ichazo, along with Claudio Naranjo (a psychiatrist) began relating the enneagram with personality types in the 1960s. In a 2010 interview, Caudio Naranjo admitted that he lied about the origins of the enneagram because he wanted his idea to become famous and widely accepted. Naranjo admitted the enneagram is not an ancient tool of Babylonian origin. He confessed he arrived at the nine personality types through "automatic writing," which is the process of producing written words while in a trance state. The words arose from a supernatural source. The bible warns us not to channel spirits (Leviticus 19:31). The enneagram is a demonic New Age teaching that is infiltrating the church. Please do your research, and remember the devil is the master of deception. Don't be led astray. 🙏🏼 The interview link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qaCDla2Dh9G0lJs.html

I’ve been hearing Christians mention the enneagram & I just went to look it up and was shocked it has a pentagram/Wiccan/occult symbol then I researched more and found within seconds that it was founded by an occultist and its all for people to know their “truth” and to attract that. Good to hear this Pastor preaching scripture. I do pray Christians seek God’s word and not some occultist test. My biggest concern is for new believers that may not be able to discern truth from the devils schemes. They may think since so many Christian leaders say it’s okay to explore with the enneagram that they could be swayed into the Wiccan teachings.

Confirmation bias + The Barnum/Forer Effect (whichever name you prefer). "Personality tests can seem very accurate even when they are not. Perhaps you’ve met someone who claims to be an Enneagram 3, and it really seems like that description fits them to a tee. One of the reasons for this illusion of accuracy has to do with confirmation bias: When we believe something is true, we automatically begin to filter information based on that assumption." www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/people-are-strange/201909/when-personality-test-results-are-wrong-feel-so-right "This effect describes the tendency for people to think that broad descriptions that apply to nearly everyone are specific personal descriptions. I'd be willing to bet that for most people, one or two other Enneagram types seem to describe them pretty well, and the detailed descriptions of several other types will have occasional statements that are eerily descriptive of you. Test it out and see for yourself, but remember, you may be one of the rare people who are described extremely well by just one type." www.jaymedenwaldt.com/2019/01/the-enneagram-science-and-christianity_17.html But hey, what does a Ph.D. and a Ph.D. candidate know about psychology?

That's an interesting theological debate, but not the point he was making really. In Martin Luther King Jr's case, he was an ordained minister, so he probably followed Jesus. In Gandhi's case, that's a significantly harder debate to make. I like to imagine that if people were never seriously exposed to the gospel in this life, God probably exposes them to the gospel when they die, and He knows what they would choose. However, that's kind of an incomplete idea, as it takes the pressure off of mundane Christians to evangelize to the masses. The truth is probably closer to "we have no earthly way of knowing how God makes his decisions," and I'll just have to be content with that.

It is clear that Alexander the Great was a 3. The distinctive behaviour was that of the sliding goals, being charismatic, uplifting, freedom of speach leader, etc. Never ending story.. He almost conquered the entire world by changing his goals until his army wanted to fight no more wars. He died not as a hero in a batle but by a mosquito bite in malaria, leaving no heirs, no one to rule and the empire disolved within a decade. One of the greatest tragedies of that time. No one could challenge his army but God. When God did that..it became an ugly thing to see. It is said that he cried blod due to the desise until he died. He taught the world what Jesus said to the old rich man that wanted to heaven. By asking for his 3 final requests on his deads bed about 300BC (300 years Before Christ). Isn’t that amazing? Before Christ means.. that the bible was not even known of back then. About 400 years before the first bible writings were written.

As a 3 I fail to understand, what is the point of being put onto this earth to abide by physics, physical systems, physical things, requiring food, water, shelter etc... just to survive yet value none of it and all you're meant to do is apparently follow God and get rid of your possessions? Seems counter intuitive af, if God wanted your "spirit" to advance, why bound you by the laws of physics and the universe? We are alive and on Earth because our ancestors etc... worked hard to survive, build and create, if everyone simply donated all their possessions and followed God, we'd still be in the ice age. I do not buy a nice car for image, I get one coz I like the experience of the drive and the thrill of the speed, I buy nice clothes coz it looks good, beautiful, pleasing to look at, I don't think 3s are so simple that we do everything for image, SOME things we may do for image while other things we do simply coz we like it, like every other type, who doesn't like luxury or nice things? You prefer economy class or first class if they cost the same? Like where is the common sense at?

It's totally false and incompatible. It's a buzzfeed quiz being passed off as holy, which is funny in one way but mostly just sad.

Shouldn't we strive to live as a new creation in Christ? To let the holy spirit guide us to be like Jesus? Scripture says that the new man will be nothing like the old man. The old man dies. Why must we be aware of our witchcraft personality number, when we as saved members of the body should be about our fathers business? Does God not empower his people to do things that are out of their natural fallen nature? Enneagram tests are a form of divination and should not be mingled with anything that belongs to God.

I like the whole enneagram teaching but the whole heaven and hell teaching I’m against. It instills fear into people, which fear is darkness which is the opposite of love which is light which is what Jesus represents. Heaven on earth is within your self, why do you think Jesus said it is impossible for a rich person to get into heaven, it is because of the rich persons ego. Ego is what keeps the rich from entering heaven because ego is fear, ego controls the rich person and tells him to be greedy. Ego is darkness, ego is hell and suffering. When a person lets go of ego, the person begins to love, to give to others, that is what heaven is. Im a 3 and I have been battling my ego since I moved to America. The ego creates fear and anxiety which creates this suffering here on earth.. heaven and hell are not physical things. It’s all in the mind, the Bible is a metaphor of multiple stories put together by different peoples interpretations. It’s a library of different stories made up from many different past cultures and experiences..
