Enneagram Type 1 Overview (The Perfectionist)
Learning your Enneagram type can unlock a lifetime of personal growth. In this video, Truity's lead trainer Samantha Mackay explains the core elements of the Enneagram One.
Ones earn the nickname “The Perfectionist” because of their strong moral compass, and compulsive desire to change themselves and the world around them for the better. Mission-driven and controlled, Ones fear being bad, defective, or wrong, and strive for perfection in all areas of life.
For Ones, growth means embracing joy and contentment, relaxing and learning to accept imperfection.

“Don’t seek to accomplish, just be.” As a Type 1 this statement makes me nervous.

Then perhaps reword it but keep the meaning by saying; "focus on the journey, not the destination"?... Does that help?

I found it helpful to treat relaxation time as a To Do List item. And reframing the idea of hanging out with family/friends/etc as "investing in long-term relationships." This helped me place a higher value on things that otherwise might seem like a 'waste of time.'
"Are you the person who even has a to do list for Saturday..." Yes! "and does anything to get it done." Ehhhhhh. Depends on how I feel on that Saturday. lolol
The real point of being a one is to start by getting really swamped up by our hidden resentment for the world that dared to call us bad/imperfect/etc. And then to learn along the way when good enough is good enough. Once that is defined; The smouldering ashes of repressed anger calm down a little. And then we can ironically tell the world who had us become a one, what good enough really means. And ironically end up being an exemplar for a more fair and logical expectation pattern. As even then, with our standards moderately lowered, can we still run circles around them, if need be. It's not about conceit, it's about honest awareness of one's own worth. Precisely from the precursor trauma that made us a one in the first place. If that is not self-ownership; I don't know what is.

This is me lol. INFJ 1w2.
I had a female boss like this. I quit after a year. Whew! What a relief!
Im an infp and have this type. I feel like a walking paradox
sigh
Laughing at the good enough isn’t close enough to perfection part. Sounds a bit hypocritical to me, with their explosive anger management issues. Lol

Ones don't tend to explode with anger, it tends to be more contained. They convert it into something else. For example, anger might become politeness, warmth or friendliness, especially for a self-preservation One. Social Ones tend to be cooler, and will teach or preach what the right way to do something. Sexual Ones with their zeal to reform others do have greater access to anger, but it's more likely to look like criticism. The angriest type on the Enneagram is the Sexual Four, followed by the Sexual Six and Sexual Eight, although they aren't the only types with greater access, and the ability to express anger. Hope that helps!
Who uses facebook anymore?
