Yes, this does improve security. Especially with doorknobs. Centering lacthguard on deadbolt would improve the looks. I would mount latchguard closer to door jam. Drilling both sides of door would prevent splintering.

Home Depot reviewers say the carriage bolts bend easily on installation and suggest you buy stronger ones. Has this been anyone's experience?

Bolts may bend during installation, if the pre drill hole is smaller then needed for the bolt. Specially when the bolt is forced in with hammer, which not the correct way to install .

Does this work for inswing doors ?

No, only for out swinging doors.

They just take the screws out and take it off

They can’t take the screws out from outside. The nuts are installed in the inside.

What is it securing? Don't make sense.............

This video was intended to show people how to install this bracket on a door. Once the bracket is installed on a door the door is more secure. Without the bracket it is very easy to break into the house. This bracket makes it difficult to open specially for any door that opens outward. Nothing is secure 100% but it makes the door more secure than what it was before.

You didn't show how it opens, closes and blocks! Hell, we don't even know what door to mount it on! Poor video!
