Not for nothing we call those matches the derby of the low countries. On the other hand this 0-6 stinks to high heaven. What a great idea of the the UEFA to put two teams in one group that made a deal of going to the Olympics together if England became a qualifier. We Dutch have a reason to doubt this 0-6

They couln't fix the 4-0 though because of the extra time in Tilburg. Of course i could be wrong while i sound as a brexiteer with delusional conspiracy theories ;-)

England fan here and hoped we'd get through, but if it's a league system, then it doesn't lie. Anything can happen in a knockout tournament, but a league tells the truth. We were terrible in a lot of matches in the Nations League, so much so I wondered what had happened to us! In a league, the best team goes through, and that was The Netherlands. It was close in the end, but only England have themselves to blame for being in that position. Good luck Netherlands

Also: for the best european teams it is so hard to qualify. There are only 12 teams (worlds were 32) at the olympics and 3 of them european. With Spain, Germany, England, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark. With France already qualified these teams only fight for two tickets left.

Well they tried and nearly pulled it off , got closer than I thought they would so hats off to them. This team doesn't warrant the slating they get when things go wrong or have under par games , every team suffers that occasionally . I'm fully behind our ladies and enjoy watching them , some great players in there and don't forget the women's game is relatively new compared to the men's. Only thing that bugs me the same as the men's England side is the amount of bad passing , lets our sides down. I don't really care about this competition or any other , I just like watching our ladies play and when things go right delight in it even more.

Hopefully in the future a match up like this isn't possible anymore unless the National Olympic Committee changes their rules. With Engeland and Scotland both being part of Team Great-Brittain it obviously creates a conflict of interest. I'm glad my country ( The Netherlands ) managed to secure victory with enough goals otherwise we would have had a lot of controversy on our hands.

As a Scot, this entire nations league campaign has been a cry out for a rebuild. The Dutch and the English are fantastic teams, but we wouldn't be losing by 4 or 6 goals to them back in 2019! Our players are ageing or out of form and our manager is unfit. If We're to keep progressing then we need a huge change up in the national team, but that's unlikely knowing the SFA

Scotland has lost a lot of good players so you can't expect everything to be rosey immediately after losing some major players be they on offense or defense or able to be both. It's also naive to think that players good & great ones will always stay that way let alone never age or never be injured or anything like that. Injure especially that results in a long recovery time like say a ACL or MCL or ligament tear can be hard to come back from just as broken bones can be even with the best care & better desire to return & most commitment to get better & return. It doesn't always happen especially as we all age & can't stop or pause that.

England had at least 3000 fans at Hampden last night! Made it a great atmosphere!

Goalkeeping continues to be the massive achilles heel in the women's game. What was going on in that first goal? The Scotland keeper's reflexes were slow for the others and kept her too low for relatively palmable shots, and then to concede inside the post for the last goal. Shocking.

You're taking a lot of credit away from England. Scotland would always sacrifice the Olympics if it resulted in denying England. The last thing they want is to see England in another semi-final. In that respect they succeeded.

What a bad edited summary of the game, the other game of the NL was so important and not even one word, only last second. The thrill of the game was knowing what was going on in the other game.

After winning 6 of their 8 games in the WWC QF group , losing only to eventual world champions Spain , they beat Austria in the first k/o, and lost a very close game to the Rep of Ireland ( the 2nd highest goal scorers in the NL ) by a single goal. They were 6-1-1 coming into the NL , and despite being the lowest ranked team in all of the A Div groups, still managed to hold Belgium to 2 draws. You do know that the NLs and England are the last two teams to win the Euros and get to the WC Final. Scotland have done really well since the start of WC qualifying. You should be proud , not whinging.

Their fall ? They tied for top of the group , and missed out by ' one ' GD , despite scoring more goals than the Dutch. Only Spain scored more goals than England. Their GD was + 7 , every team who had a higher GD , won their group. Even in the B Div , England would have won 2 of the 4 groups with their record. I cant figure out how any of this is a ' fall' .

What kind of Olympics will it be without the European champions and World Cup finalists. A team which finished joint top of their Nations League group! How many nations will compete at the Olympics for Christ sake, seven!?

@@BiBaBo49 Agreed. However, I would have thought the current European champions and World Cup finalists would have been allowed to be at the Olympics. That’s not arrogance my dear, that’s common sense.

@@andrula Well, since all teams world wide have to qualify to play at the Olympics (with the exception of the host nation, France) it was a fair chance for everyone. England, too. But they failed. That may be very bitter but that's how the rules are. You don't qualify on the merits of your past performance.

​@@andrulathere will be twelve teams in the women's tournament. Three of them qualified via continental championship (USA and Brazil as winners, Colombia as a finalist). That was 2022 as well. Both USA and Brazil did very poorly at this year's world cup. As did Canada, by the way, who only recently qualified via play-offs. Also badly did Germany who went through some changes after the world cup and fought for their chance to qualify (which won't be easy against Spain and the Netherlands with France already qualified as the host). If England were automatically qualified as the European Champion, that would have been a two-year gap between qualifying for and playing the Olympics. Three years even, if the EC wasn't rescheduled due to covid. Common sense ist to qualify for a tournament in the year before it takes place to (most likely) have the same team competing that actually qualified. Which adds another question mark to the Lionesses qualifying for a mixed "Team GB", but that's a different story altogether ...
