Glad you got it sorted, with carbs it can be the smallest amount of dirt. With mine i have given my mooring up and now tow it, simply because nobody on the water sell E5 fuel, the manufacturer of my engine specifically say don't use E10, so now i can shop around for prices and make sure I fill it right!

I’ve changed the engine now for a fuel injection Yamaha. I also struggle to get E5 so I use E10 and add a fuel set each time I buy some. No problem so far 🤞

@@fishingsalcombe it's ok on later engines but mine is over 30 years old, I don't struggle to get it when towing, been filling up in Costco lately as it's cheaper 😁

Fair enough mate, I’d use it if it was easily available, and cheap!

Excellent. I genuinely admire someone like you with the knowledge and confidence to dismantle an engine and diagnose. I guess some learn such stuff in life, clearly I haven’t! Good job. Back fishing again. 👍

Yes, not what you need but just a bit of time and patience to sort it so can’t grumble with that 👍🎣🎣

Well done. Just needed a good clean. Could of just be a small bit of stuff clogging a jet don’t take much. Happy days 😊😊

They are the worst kind of faults, not knowing root cause allways give that slight anxiety. Maybe also replace all fuel filters again and brand new fuel, and definitely e5.....by the way got my fresh water sysyem installed, works great for cleaning boat and also flushing the engine whilst on mooring, thanks for the inspiration 👍

Great that you have a water solution - makes so much difference. Tight lines mate 🎣🎣

Nice work. Nothing worse than engine trouble. On E5 not sure how far you are from a Tesco petrol station but all their outlets appear to still sell E5 thankfully. At least all the ones in my neck of the woods.

I like living in rural South Devon but it can have some drawbacks & my nearest E5 is about half an hours drive away!

@@fishingsalcombe know the feeling. I'm South Coast of Cornwall 40 minute round trip to Tesco but I do it as I just dont like E10 in my tank, even tho' my outboard engine manufacturer has assured me its ok! I know Chillington area well. Its a lovely part of the World. I presume therefore Kingsbridge Tesco is not a fuel outlet as well. Shame.

No, unfortunately, it’s Lee Mill on the A38 for Tesco fuel!

@@fishingsalcombe I have started using this treatment when 'forced' to use E10. One £10 bottle treats 300 litres of fuel.

Try a gallon of E5 Fuel and a litre of seafoam it will save you cleaning jets and stripping manifolds, its superb stuff give it a go , i use it a lot on my engine and have had no issues at all. Reasearch Seafoam its the best and its alcohol based.

Thank you, I’ll have a look at seafoam. I would use E5 but in my little corner of rural Devon it’s a bit of a drive to get it👍🎣🥘

U want to winterise it with aspen it’s a fuel that will stay fresh for five years get the smallest fuel tank u can get on your last trip run it for five mins on the aspen hope this may be helpful meant to say use e five e ten is double trouble it is crap

Thank you, I’ll look into that. I normally try to use the boat all year round and just bring it out for a few weeks for cleaning and servicing so I don’t tend to winterise the boat. I don’t really know what caused the issue but I’m guessing it was weather induced inactivity and E10. Thanks for the tip though, I’ll look into aspen for next winter 👍

I’d second this, i always after a trip flush the engine with fresh water and run it on aspen for ten minutes.
