Super interesting. I've got a Yaris TS with the 1.8 ZR -FE and 6 speed manual. I saw there is a new intake manifold from CNC innovations. You might want to try that out. I might be doing some of that stuff in the future

Simmilar with 1.5L hybrid you can use 2zr-fxe bottom end to make high comp Otto cycle 2zr engine ✌️

I did this swap into my daily yaris. Put a turbo kit on it and it makes 220hp at the wheels. Sooooo much fun to drive.

I have the same thought process as you on deciding what engine I should swap. All my MR2 friends are saying to go 2AR or 2AZ, K swap, but I want to be able to do it myself and the 2ZR seems to make the most sense. Looking forward to the swap!

Jealous. I have an '07 Yaris hatch and have been daydreaming of a little more power in this platform. My objective is more to create a road-going "hot hatch" which I can still daily but have more fun with on the back roads. Love the channel!

There’s an amazing 1NZ FE rebuild guide by a channel called “make it mike” it’s a small channel with around 7K subs. He did a great very detailed 8 part series on rebuilding the 1NZ FE.

Try finding the 2zr-fxe. It has the same potential than 1nz-fxe in terms of the hybrid thing.

You can do a 2ZR-FE/FXE hybrid too, they came in 2009 to 2023 prius and other hybrid Toyotas.

Also, given the mashup of parts the final car will be, you can call it the Frankenvitz (refering the Toyota Vitz name), but I think the Angry Panda sounds cooler.

Put a 4 barrel carb on it. Seen someone put one on a old 4 banger about 30 years ago. It was crazy fast

7:55 that's why I went with a K24A for my RSX Type-S shell should be pretty much bolt in swap. I wanted to get a 5 cylinder vigor engine but that may be down the line if somehow I blow the K

Gears and gasoline did not use a 2azfe 2.4 they used a 2arfe the 2.5 for 2010 camry and present camrys

2AR! 2.5 swap this beyotch. :D Stuff fits bro it won't take much fabrication. 2.5 with 2.4 flywheel n clutch with a Scion TC1 short trans, everything almost bolts on! The ECU and wiring can be left laying around. Axles is all you might need it's super easy. It "came in this chassis" in a way. The 1NZ is also found in the RAV4 of the same years which also came with a 2AZ which is basically the same as a 2AR. :) Mount points n all don't change.

Nonetheless your swap is a good choice too so I'm not gonna diss it. But the 2.5 is nowhere near as complicated as you might believe. A lot of stock stuff will get you almost all the way there.

I hope you get this swap done man, I’m following for any tips and tricks to get it done, I plan to do the exact same, I’m just curious if the 2zr-fe mounts the same as the 2zr-fae because I seen that engine makes alittle more horsepower and thought about trying to get that one instead. But if you know something I don’t about the 2zr-fae it would be great to know, thanks for any help.

LETS GO! 2ZR-FE XD swap! I just got a rusted out XD for $200 just for the engine. when my 1.5 craps out I'll toss in the 1.8.

2zr swap seems most logical. with 1.8 in yaris were under t-sport badging here in finland. If you want to add spice, find 3zr engine 2.0L , use 2zr everything else ;)

I’m so excited! Maybe you can convince a company to finally make cams for these 2zr :/ if you ever want more compression, you can do a 2zrfxe hybrid like the 1nz hybrid

Do your future self a solid and make sure to grab all 3 Xd mounts and the Xd shift cables. I’ve done a lot of reading on this swap and it sounds like when you only replace the engine side mount it results in the other two mounts not lining up very well. If you replace all three mounts it corrects this issue but it also moves the engine/trans a bit which means you need to use the Xd shifter cables as well, which are a tad longer than the Yaris cables.

@@RassoolRacing you could definitely try just using the engine side mount initially but in the event it doesn’t work out at least you can fall back on option B and replace all 3. Better to be prepared ya know? 👍

I've been on the 2ZR side since your oil pressure issue. I still think if you can find the ECU and such from a Corolla Eco or Scion/Toyota iM and get that extra power (140) rather than the normal Corolla's 132, or worse the xD's 128... free HP. And of course avoid the six speeds of the iM and Eco, since they're not ideal for performance (plugged in the ratios on Forza Motorsports to see what it'd do in an xD... yeah, that's a nope). Perhaps part of the xD's detuned output is down to the Yaris intake and exhaust. Damn near the same airbox (I think the main difference is the boot between the box and throttle body) and definitely the same muffler, neither of which seemed particularly straight forward for flow.

I'm not planning on running a stock tune or exhaust, so I don't think it matters, but if it does, hopefully I can just swap the ECU.

When you pull the 1nz can you do an engine bay measurement please? I have a gen 1 xb and have been trying to figure out if the 2zr will fit in my box

I wonder if that shop can disable the immobilizer in the ECU. Thats the biggest hurdle with doing this in a later second gen or a 3rd gen Yaris

I have a toyota hatchback 2007. I want to upgrade to a bigger engine. I was going for a turbo charge but someone told me use a super charger instead and also what can fit in the space. I would appreciate for some advice on what engine to upgrade too with a supercharger? I am switching to manual and i have the standard 1nz - fe engine, i think. If you can add in other areas to accommodate the upgrade, will appreciate that too. Thanks

You think the 2ZR-FE would fit into my '04 Scion Xb? It has the same Yaris 1nz-fe engine so it should be a easy swap "I Assume".

Gears n Gasoline has 2AR, not 2AZ. There are much difference between these two engines

1nz manual trans are bolt on to de 2zr? or its need de 2rz trans from an xd?

If you have the 2zr flywheel and the 1nz clutch, then the 1nz trans will fit

Take a look at info on using 1nzfxe pistons. Most people use those, but I'm assuming you could use the whole bottom end

Haha you have put the same engine that was in my old UK 🇬🇧 spec Yaris SR 😮 Nice idea. I’ve got a Celica VVTI running 149 BHP as my Yaris died :( 😮 You can make some very simple mods to the 2ZR-FE and get 143bhp There is ZERO support in the UK for the 2ZR…

What can a 1SZ-FE engine be swapped with, with no modifications? Can a 1SZ-FE and 2SZ-FE be interchanged?

It's more about the chassis than the engine. You need an engine that either came in that chassis in some form, or matches up with an engine that came in that chassis. Fabrication point would be motor mounts, so if the motor mounts are able to connect that chassis to the that engine you can use it. The next point would be transmissions. If the new engine can fit the existing transmission, or if it needs needs a transmission that it came with. With. Then you would need to know if that new transmission can also be mounted into the existing chassis. At any point you could have someone make a solid motor mount pretty easily, but those are very harsh. The final thing would be the ECU. You will need an ECU that matches the engine you're using, and if if you can use an oem engine harness then you're good to go. This is a oversimplification, but that'll give you an idea of what engines to look for.

I was legit thinking about a 2zr swap for the last 4 months. My wife is legit tired of me going to junk yards at this point.

Just a tip. Maybe double check the claims on the tune for the 2ZR that you spoke about. I feel like I know the company that you're talking about (starts with A, ends with T lol) and from being local to them and being in the community, some of their claims for other platforms were a bit far fetched. A proper bolt on and tuned 2ZR would dyno way less than 160 to the wheels in my experience.

Thank you for your reply. I asked the guys at WK Motorsport and they are not sure about my version (zsp90 1.8 TS 2zr-fe) but if you say it fits then I will order a WK shifter

It is. Rolled my 4runner, quit my job, FRS needed a big refresh at 100k, GR Movement eliminated my class, went to South Africa, London, Miami, Pikes Peak, and Utah. It's been a wild 6 months.
