Best Mods for a FWD Track Car

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In the 4 years I've been taking my Yaris to the track, 5 mods have stuck out as the most effective and impressive. Front wheel drive cars are the most common cars on the road, so it's really tempting to take one out to track. As more and more mods go on this car, maybe I should put it up against Donut Media's civic build.

I agree with everything on this list, one thing i think is more important than the exhaust would be brake pads in my opinion, but then again machine communication with the driver from the exhaust is important too! ah hell, before you know it you are already 10k into your race car lol

You can actually get a type of knock sensor that uses the sound of your engine, but what’s really neat is that knock sensor just works from a microphone and you could just wire a pair of headphones into your helmet with it with like an earbud.

That's a good mod list for a track Yaris. Good tires are a must. Im looking forward to more cool videos in 2024! I'd like to share with everybody my mod list because you all are the only people I know who would care to talk about a Toyota Yaris. 1) Tires on my track rims are 195/55/15 on Toyo Extensa 2, 15x8 and zero offset. For my daily driving rims my Yaris has Mini Cooper R81 wheels, the rubber is Accelera Phi-R 205/55/15. 2) Suspension I have TEIN Hspec lowering springs. They provide the perfect blend of smooth ride daily and handles great on curvy turns. Stock Struts. 3) The rear sway bar was instantly a noticeable improvement. I went with the TRD rear sway bar. Very simple to install also. 4) I need to listen to the engine, and rpms. and the stock catback is very quiet. I went with the TRD cat back because of OEM fit and will make sound but not over board. Altho, I dont like the tip that was used. 5) I recently had my ecu tuned by FTG Tuning/Chris Taylor Racing. WOW! Very peppy and is a bit quicker off the line. But will never be fast. The rpms now go to 7500 rpms, VVTi engages at 3500 rpms and the air to fuel ratio was fixed. No more bogging down on take off.

I got a build similar to this, 2002 honda civic tho but pure fwd track purpose, many tires, SCCA style type build, grassroots. alot of people mistake it for a “instagram or tiktok build” but i track it all the time , just shows you some folks don’t really know some purpose of some cars.

I think that the most important things in this order are: 1 - Coilovers 2 - geometry adjustability (Camber, toe and caster) 3 - Swaybars 4 - tyres 5 - shifter 6 - LSD 7 - exhaust, intake, tuning... In my opinion it is always better to have a better and more predictable chasis and then work your way into other things

the RT660s are 205-45r15s i believe, but still very cheap compared to the 245-40r17s i'd need for my frs.

Safety is very important, but I wouldn't want to discourage people from getting started. About half the cars at any track day I go to have stock seats and 3 point seat belts.

@@RassoolRacing I agree with the safety aspect, but I was talking about seat and seatbelt from the "car feel" point of view also. In my opinion the feel of a car's behavior through good seat without a need to grab on the steering wheel to compensate G-forces through corners can make you faster. And from the price point of view beginner level seat and seatbelt can be cheaper than LSD for example)
