Thanks for watching Paul!
I think we should partition for all wild birds to carry EC devices. Great video and good to see that flying trumps the haircut. The wash up at the end was relevant and to the point, thanks Ben.

Haha - yeh I’m pleased I can fly all three now. Still need to build confidence back up !
Excellent video Ben. Couldn't agree more about flying with an instructor. I am relatively low hours and that is exactly what my co-sharer and I decided to do. Not only did we find out just how rusty we were but, bonus, we also added perspective to our basic skills. It is something we intend to do again and not just for that blasted bi-annual requirement!
You are a brave soul for sharing such a nerve-tingling video. It was fabulous, had me on the edge of my seat. The instructor was cool and you did well under pressure. Engine failures or, as a glider pilot, landing out when the thermals go away, sharpens our senses and, hopefully, improves our decision making. Well done.

Liked David's carving entry to the field. Obviously it's a bit artificial when I'm learning. But sometimes I feel I forget you can make analogue blended sweeping turns and do more than go forwards... Turn... Go forwards... turn... In a digital manner!
Well done Ben! Great video. Let's hope we can all keep flying for a while now 👌

Thanks Kevin. Let’s hope so indeed!
Quite right what David says. There's a habit of trying to fly a circuit with a pfl. I blame the high key/low key emphasis. Judging height is very difficult. It's convenient to set QFE when near your runway, but if you're over unfamiliar terrain high key low key is pretty useless. Better to fly a constant aspect approach, which is what they teach in the RAF.

Absolutely. Easy to get caught into thinking about an approach isn’t it. Interesting stuff thanks Martin!

Absolutely brilliant videos and inspiring me to get back to flying after over 12 years off. Yes I will be starting back at lesson 1 again. Brilliant work Ben and hopefully see you up in the blue if I ever get down to your neck of the woods. :)

Hi Matthew, it’s comments like this that really make the effort of the video editing totally worth while, so thank you for posting. Sounds great that you’re going to get back up in the sky. I wish you every success
Great stuff good to get confident in the air again. I have clocked up a few hours since we have been allowed back and I am soon to do a re-validation flight in an aircraft I have not flown before (will see if can sort out a camera or two for that).

Nice content Ben. 🤙
Nice one Ben. I had dreadful lesson last July after a 10 month break. It wasn't fade it was a complete shambles on my part! Anyways, not deterred and will be back in the air soon.

Well done Ben, it's challenging isn't it with time away - the SR Swift looks a lively little beast. You've a good CFI though, challenging but supportive, wants to keep you safe and current. Did you see those buzzards? I thought your instructor ducked?! Lol! They usually get out of the way, NEVER try to out climb birds of prey! Always tricky dealing with wildlife in flight. I remember when extra check ride rules came in and some quarters (in GA PPL world) moaned and groaned about it. For 'flying farmers' a long way away from a flying school, it used to be, in Spring, careful, toe dunking flying alone, building the skills back (some grass strips would flood all winter), getting one's hand and eye back in before offering to take passengers up. Sensible, safe flying by long in the tooth high hours pilots. But we also witnessed standards slipping in other areas outwith of the steady as she goes pilots. Check rides with a good instructor are no bad thing in my book.

Thanks very much. Oh yes - 100hp and a short airframe = lots of torque yaw! He’s great yes! I did, they were much much closer than the cameras made them appear - I pushed the stick forward nose down to avoid the first and I missed the second visually until DY pointed it out! And yes, he ducked! Haha!

@@BenAtkinsonVideos Always hard to tell on camera, those birds looked big! I think the standard advice in a GA or microlight and birds, if you can, dive/bank away.
Great video buddy! I had my own near miss with a buzzard last week. It gets the mind thinking what would happen if one hit the tail 👀
