    I remember watching these tv shows as a kid back in the day. My family would all gather around and watch these specials which included awesome singers like Sinatra, Humperdinck, Tom Jones, and a whole bunch more! It says this one aired on 10/25/1969. I was turning 12 on November 20th! It was such a different time... magical era for many of us... even for us kids! Style, talent, beauty and class... right here! What memories!!

Its plain and simply excellent music no matter your taste. Hard to argue with that plus Metalheads appreciate a broad range of sounds generally.

    Yesterday I had the opportunity to take my wife to see Engelbert sing live one more time to celebrate our 42nd. anniversary. This great singer, despite having physical problems, has not lost anything of his great voice. Best of all, my wife was thrilled to see her favorite singer so close to her. Time shouldn't go through this kind of stars that make us happy, and at the same time make us dream awake. Let's keep listening to Mr. Engelbert Humperdinck so that he will never be forgotten by the new generations.

    I just saw Engelbert Humperdinck singing in Manila on Sept. 9th, 2023. He was singing absolutely great for 86 years old. Next to my seat there was a former Philippino ambassador to India in 1980s that has seen Engelbert singing in Tajmahal Hotel in New Delhi more than 50 years ago. And believe or not, the voice was still the same❤ It was his best concert EVER. Who else his age would perform better!

    1969? Well The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were already big, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were just around the corner and Frank Zappa already kicked some serious butt. This kind of music was a holdover from decades ago for older folks. At least there was a wide choice in the ''60s and much more in the '70s. You had it all from badass to total cheese. Now it's all image and a ton of mediocrity. No matter how cheesy this song may be (it is), at least it had to be written by a skilled arranger and performed by pro musicians.

    well that's a pretty big claim to make, spcially considering all the competition: Kennedy, Roosevelt, FDR, Ike, El BJ (now you can never unhear it), Wilson, Truman... Whatever your inclination, that is a long list of big names, some of which had ofucsed their entire careers to being president (can't speak for Ike, who came from the military and probably didn't think about it before WWI, unlike TR who dedicated his entire life to being the incarnation of awesome in his time and fuck the world's vagina with his grand american dong).

    +Matthew Wright Thank you! Lots of great music is still being made today. Music keeps evolving, and will do so forever. Sure you can look back at an era and enjoy it, but you can't expect art to stand still and remain the same.

  • @mine634

    @mine634

    Damiën Falkenburg I don't expect anything to stop evolving but art is subjective, people have as much right as you to an opinion. The argument for talent versus technology (autotune, sequencers etc.) is a strong one because science still has not pinned down why we like music, it's a psychology thing therefore humans are more musical than machines which is why shortcuts are soulless. (l love science but it is not art).
