Endurance Tortoise Vs Aero Hare | Who Can Ride The Furthest?

Спорт

Winter isn't normally when most riders attempt endurance cycling challenges, but this year Hank and Mark Beaumont have decided to take up the challenge of riding as far as they can on the shortest day of the year. This time, rather than riding together, our adventurous pair are racing each other, and they've gone for very different strategies!

I’d have taken the Endurance rig for sure. I did a similar challenge on Winter Solstice, with the aim of doing 200km of paved and snirt (snow-covered dirt) roads. Weather cooperated nicely, hovering around freezing, and I pulled off 201.35km in 7 hours, 9 minutes rode time. That got me home almost an hour before dark, to my family’s surprise, and that was with a coffee stop; sweet! I’d never considered such a winter challenge, but it felt like exactly what I needed this year.

Everyone should do something like this at least once in their life. We rode between 70 to 120 miles per day. What an epic challenge. So good to see Hank and Mark in a video again. They are always inspirational and educational. Chapeau to both for getting out there and making the most of the daylight on our shortest day. Amazing result too. Who’d have thought that?!

What a fantastic edit once again GCN, it's like Top gear for cycling. The all out performance bike that Hank rode will always win but as for Mark's experience and mindset, he knows where he will be after a challenging day in the saddle. Keep on creating these excellent productions and chapeau to the editing team

4:58 WOW they are so polite & patient in the 🇬🇧!!! If that was filmed here 🇺🇸 you'd hear a sympathy of horns followed by profanities, tailgating, threats & maybe a confrontation 😂...& the cyclist would be considered the rude 1 for not letting them by.

Maybe the filming motorbike helps ease the tension. The difference i’ve noticed between place like canada/northern US states vs europe is that we have “snow plow turnaround” areas on the road which are also very useful to get out the way and ease the amassing rear traffic. I simply couldn’t live with myself holding up more than 3-4 cars

Just watched this video today, 4 days after release. You guys picked an awesome day for the ride. Coincidentally, I did a 188km ride last week, across the Netherlands (so a ride as flat as a pancake). Preemptively burning all the calories I was to eat while celebrating Christmas. Videos with Mark have been really informative for me as a newby on how to approach long rides. Thanks for the great content and keep it up!
