The reason is its older tech and provides a bigger platform and thus more even pressure distribution on the foots sole during multi hour long rides.

Her reason for the clipping the bike is because 1. It'll get dirty 2. Might get scratch 3. All can lean it on something All which are kinda dumb

Manon is a former pro, so of course her body will adapt to any form of training and she will gain fitness even in zone 2. They should've had an ordinary cyclist as a control.

I wish this was the case with me, but I can not keep up with my friend who’s a lot taller than me and heavier than me. He’s also been cycling for about 15 years plus, while I’m fresh out of the box. My friend is 6’3” and weighs 205 lbs and I’m 5’7” and I weigh 160 lbs. I can’t for the life of me stay in the draft 😢. My goal is to be faster than him uphill by the end of summer!

Great! Just when I’m trying to figure out this Z2 thing you go off your diet and start running and hiking and leaving zone 2 on your ride 😂 A couple of things that are confusing me and some new things just now after I looked at your last ride. 1. You’re talking about zone 2 HR, not power, in your videos, correct? I hadn’t even considered that you might mean power. 2. My Z2 is HUGE and you talked about your range being small. That also makes me wonder if you mean power zones, plus that _would_ be harder to stay in on hills. I also haven’t tested myself in many years, so the range I’m using may be totally wrong. My lower end is easy while the upper end is close to not wanting to talk much and nose breathing is harder. 3. It does feel like a better workout though when I’m in Z2 HR. As you said. I really have to pay attention to breathing and not drifting off into endurance, especially after traffic lights and as it gets dark and SQUIRREL! 🐿️

For me, the discomfort I was experiencing was hindering any rides longer than about 12 miles. After I got a proper bike for and a seat that had a cutout in the front, everything changed and I can now ride for miles and miles without discomfort. It really depends on your external anatomy to know what will work best. I will never ride without a cutout seat again!

Is your zone 2 HR match your zone 2 power? What zone 2 should we use? Power or HR?

I feel like this is the same thing that happened to the mountain bike vibe in the 80's. People talked about how social and welcoming people were at first, then it got "organized" with national cycling bodies and the UCI and that just led to its downfall as a fun get together and race event.

Seems to me that the only ways to stay in Z2 is to either ride flat routes, which isn't easy if you live in a hilly region, find the flattest routes you can which even hilly regions tend to have and just do as many loops as you need to to get in the desired distance or time riding, which gets boring really fast, or stick to a trainer, which, well, ditto. But most people aren't going to do Z2 only workouts or programs, which even if you live in flat regions is really boring. So it's almost a phantom problem for most people.

These numbers aren't accurate. Threshold is %90-105 and VO2 %106-120. Above that is anaerobic effort Z6 and Z7 depending on the model. Trying doing 5 min intervals at %150 effort and see how that works out 😂
