    SubhaanAllah, just like the world 🌎 doesn’t pray Isha nor Fajr nor Dhuhr at the same time, how can the entire dunya observe Ashura at the same time. It’s impossible. Some place have a 14 hour time difference! Surely Allah, subhaanahu wata’ala, and his Messenger, sallallahu alayhe wassalam, knew this. 😊

    As salaamu alaikum, From what I’ve come to know, Saudi only does actual sightings for the 4 sacred months. If they have a committee specifically for sighting the moon every month, then how come they (the committee themselves) never announce it? Why is it always this “High Judicial Council” that announces it? Also, do they really adjust their calendar when it is seemingly at odds with verifiable regional sightings?

    Wa alaykumu salaam, I believe the Shayukh have addressed your points in the video but I'll reiterate. We are not government officials or speaking on behalf of Saudi government, but based on our own experience and findings, sightings do take place every month. For example, Majmah University Astronomical Observatory (@mu_observatory), headed by Shaykh Abdullah Al-Khudairi who's an expert in the field, which announces their findings publicly and reports back to the judicial authority and government. Furthermore, it is superior for a judicial system to announce the moonsighting after witnesses provide their testimony to the judge. Finally, yes, they really do adjust their calendar and have done so in the past. You can monitor for yourself and you'll see most of the time it doesn't change but around 25% of time it does.

Just to reiterate, people can't seem to understand the concept of valid difference of opinion which leads to these debates each year. The valid difference (global vs. local) is based upon what the Prophet ﷺ‎ said. In terms of reliability, how do you rely on Saudi Arabia knowing they are ruled and government by literealists and people who are known to have the incorrect 3aqeedah? And to follow someone, you have to deem them as reliable? So, what do you define as a reliable Muslim?

    I just want to make a point. All the rules of our beautiful religion can be applied anywhere and in any situation. For global moonsighting to be adhered to then you need technology. By default this isn’t inclusive and hence can’t be applied. If global moonsighting was a concept, the man in the city and the man in the jungle would be able to apply this.

    My point doesn’t conflict with Hadith, and if you feel it does, please provide references. It appears that you’re shying away from providing any form of reference and the audience can see this. So to explain, the Hadith for sighting the moon applies whether you’re in a jungle or in a city whereby you can ascertain 29/30 days of a month based on physical sighting. To implement the concept of global moon-sighting, you NEED technology and this in itself is not an inclusive rule. You can apply this concept to many religious aspects.

    Would they have travelled from a country as far as the distance between saudi and uk within a few hours to announce eid? (assuming the fastest mode of transport was a horse) if they couldn't travel that far in that time in that day and age, can you then claim this hadith favours "global" sighting? Intriguing topic.

  • @IslamAnswers

    @IslamAnswers

    It is not our personal claim. Global sighting is the opinion of the majority of scholars including those of the Hanafi, Maliki and Hanbali Madhab. Also, if you say you cannot use a Hadith unless it precisely fits your exact circumstances, then you will end up rejecting many blessed Hadith narrations.

    @@IslamAnswers if you read the fatwa of the madhab then you would know that all madhab differed within the madhab on this issue where ultimately the majority went on to agree local sighting is correct. Second is the hanafi madhab doesn't say global sighting what the madhab says is if the country is local nearby such as bangladesh India Pakistan or the Arabian countries then global in this context would he allowed however bangladesh wouldn't for example follow England as per hanafi madhab because the countries are too far from each other so the global sighting fatwa for them if you read is not in the co text being claimed here Kurayb repoted: I came to Syria and tended to my needs. The crescent of Ramadan appeared over me while I was in Syria and I saw it on Friday, then I came to Medina at the end of the month. Abdullah ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, asked me about it and I mentioned the crescent. Ibn Abbas said, “When did you see it?” I said, “We saw it on Friday night.” Ibn Abbas said, “You saw it?” I said, “Yes, people saw it and they fasted, as did Mu’awiyah.” Ibn Abbas said, “But we saw it on Saturday night, so we will continue fasting until we complete thirty days or we see it.” I said, “Is it not enough that Mu’awiyah saw it and he fasted?” Ibn Abbas said, “No, such was the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1087 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Muslim Al-Tirmidhi said, “The people of knowledge act upon this tradition, that the people of every land have their own moon sighting.” Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 693 This hadith also made matters more clear

    Please explain when you say global sighting when a moon is sighted in Americas or Argentina 12 hours time difference we in Europe or Asia How can you do eid on same day

  • @IslamAnswers

    @IslamAnswers

    Жыл бұрын

    Please do review the videos and answers on this topic as this has been addressed. Firstly, a moonsighting in Americas would not be valid since you require a Qadhi to verify the moonsighting. Hypothetically speaking, if a country in the Americas was Muslim and they sighted the moon which was then verified and established, other Muslim countries would have to follow it per global sighting. If they received this news at a point which is too late to pray the Eid Salah, then they would follow the example of the Prophet ﷺ in the Hadith of Ibn Majah. They would stop fasting, and they would pray Eid the following day. For this reason, it is correct to say that global sighting would make Eid day the same for everybody, though some may end up praying Eid Salah on the following day as narrated in the Hadith itself.

    @@IslamAnswers Sorry your responses are very poor. Honestly I don't think you will be able to put anything to any sheikh. When one derives an understanding from the sources, it is not adding something to Islam, it is also Islam. Your sheikh's understanding insists on restricting to a particular school(s) and can't think out of this box. The Quran and the Sunnah do not deal with issues like technology or science, rather religious edicts for a particular time and place. Try understanding this simple point and you will see how off the track you seem.
