Endangered black Rhino Translocation, Kenya 2024 from Ol Pejeta to Loisaba Conservancy

In January 2024, Kenya Wildlife Service led a rhino translocation from 3 conservancies to reestablish a black rhino population at Loisaba Conservancy. The 3 conservancies, involved were Nairobi National Park, Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Lewa Conservancy. Black rhino are still considered critically endangered but in recent years anti poaching measures have led to an increase in numbers to the point that there is starting to be some overcrowding. Loisabi had rhino in the past but they were wiped out by poachers. With the recent translocation of black rhinos, Loisaba now has 21 rhino with plenty of room to thrive and breed.
