The fact that Gus Johnson doesn't do tourney games anymore is a damn shame. His calls were one of my favorite parts of March Madness.

@@kyleallen1858 No they weren't, they lost, ergo they weren't better. We had the better talent, the better coach, better record, the higher seeding, and the win, which was more UCLA fighting back than Gonzaga giving it away.

When UCLA was down 71-68 and Gonzaga was inbounding the ball you can read Howland's lips. He was telling the Bruins, "Don't foul, don't foul!" Very smart move by Howland.

Every time I watch this clip, it always surprises me how the pass to Batista was not knocked down. Usually full court passes with pressure on the inbounder are tough enough, but he was covered by two defenders near the perimeter. Nice - lucky - pass and good catch. Used all the luck on the pass, of course the shot was missed :p

I was at this game and was able to sneak down to the 1st row behind the press table near the UCLA bench. The Arena at Oakland had a row of seats that weren't for sale, since that row cordoned off by a small curtain that separated us from the press. We just sat there and the ushers down there were more worried about people getting on the floor than people just sitting there. Great game, good times, can't believe it was 3 years ago already.

I can't believe that with all the talent UCLA had during this era they were not able to win a championship. Farmar, Afflalo, Mbah a Moute, Hollins, and Collison are all in the NBA and Bozeman was in the league for a little while. Goes to show how good those Florida teams really were.

Gus Johnson, Kevin Harlan are the two best announcers in the game that can make any play just absolutely exciting!!! even when Batista made the catch, Gus johnson's hollering made you believe he made the shot before it even left his hand, you were excited as heel that the catch was even made regardless of him hitting the shot, like the catch was worth points...Gus is great!

As a UCLA fan I feel like I should point out that all six UCLA players who play either saw or are currently seeing significant NBA minutes (Bozeman w Atlanta is the only one no longer around). Currently we have only one who we can only hope makes it someday (Honeycutt), ouch.

Obviously the steal by Mbah a Moute at 2:15 is a great play, but if you look closely, it looks like it was a game-saving play too. Raivio was about to look up and he would've seen Jeremy Pargo (I think that's who it is), wide open for a cut to the basket or a jumper. Still one of the best finishes I've seen to any game.

I remember thinking this at the time: Afflalo should have missed the second free throw. They were out of timeouts so there's no reason to give them a chance to inbound the ball and throw a long pass, which is what happened. Make them rebound the ball in the backcourt and have to throw in a shot from 60-70 feet in less than 2 seconds. But what a game!

The funniest thing in the arena was when the arena found out DUKE lost to LSU, everybody in the arena started cheering. Gonzaga played way too relaxed down the strech and UCLA played with a sense of urgency, that is why UCLA won and they earned it !
