This is such a timeless & classic outfit that could be worn today as well. It's really beautiful. I have the reproduction version. Now I need to buy Ken's Tuxedo.

Oh, the elegance of these two outfits are enchanting. I always wished Mattel would have given Ken “a white sport coat and a pink carnation... Have you noticed that some of the reproduction long opera gloves are heat sealed (glued together) instead of actually sewn? Tricot is pronounced: tree-ko. Very nice video Jazz Hands.

I really like their outfits ✨ I wondered what Barbie’s original one looked like. I think it is pretty cool that you have Ken original tuxedo from the 60’s . I also think it’s really cool that they put so much detail into those tiny little outfits. I have been watching your videos for while and starting to really enjoy them :)

If you ever get a chance to look at the version of Tuxedo that came with the 30th Anniversary porcelain Ken doll, you will note that it adds some things not with the original Tuxedo outfit: striped boxer shorts, a sleeveless undershirt, and black sock garters! And the doll itself is a bit wider than the normal 60s Ken. Personally, I don't care for the doll because I hate porcelain, but the outfit is worth checking out.

LOL could not take my eyes of Kens fly !! Barbies dress is gorgeous ....Great vid man thanks !!

Miss Tulita I love that about this era of barbie stuff, Mattel was headquartered in California and barbie was marketed as a California teenage fashion model. One of the trial outfits that a fashion designer did was a mix and match swim suit set in coral pink, to fit in with her Cali life! It makes perfect sense she’d have a painting of a Cali mansion!

Early Ken looks kind of wimpy. Did they beef up later versions? By the way, did anyone see the Carol Burnett skit where she is Barbie, Harvey Korman is Ken, and Lyle Wagoner is GI Joe? Hilarious! Anyway, thanks for these videos.

Changing tastes in media depictions mean Barbie (and Ken) changed depending on what was fashionable and expected. Ken is a good representation of popular guys from the time, in the mold of Cary Grant or Jimmy Stewart. The 80s was when bodybuilders and muscular men started showing up in movies and tv shows, so Ken got buffer as a result! I haven’t seen the skit by Carol Burnett but I’ll need to find it on KZread!

Hi Jazz, hope you are well. Today I'm looking for a metal stand for Barbie (like the ones you use) because the one supplied with the vintage reproduction is in plastic and holds she for the waist: with some clothes it's ugly or impossible. At this point, I'm looking on ebay and I see that some are specific to Ken: maybe they are of different heights? What do I have to look for? I will be grateful if you will help me. Today I received my Commuter set (I love it). I'm so happy, with all those little accessories and... yea, you're right! closing the necklace is crazy! lol. Love, Flora

Yes be careful getting the wire stands. There are three sizes, for Ken, Barbie, and Skipper descending in size down to Skipper. They do make reproduction wire stands in black if you don’t mind reproduction. They have a tendency to fall apart too. The commuter set is super cute!!! I don’t. Have that one yet!!

Thanks and... I hope I didn't bother you. Besides, if it's midday here, it must be night in your area ... Sorry for this. Commuter set repro, of course! It is very well done (I think) but comparing it with the description on the book, I find the differences: for example, the skirt has no zip and only has the press stud. I would send you a photo but through youtube I know that it's not possible. Anyway. Thanks for now, I'm hunting for the stand :-D

Real rabbit fur stole? Dang that’s classy and fancy. Have you seen that real fur mink coat or stole that was only available through sears and cost more than the doll itself? Talk about expensive taste for Barbie!
