The Ballad of Sally Rose, the album Emmylou penned unlike most of her work. Every song on this album is incredible. She quickly stopped performing these songs and I regret that, it's her crown jewel album.

Just this past December/November 2021 I found the Ballad of Sally Rose at my local thrift store. Other than hearing her sing harmony in a John Denver song, I had never heard her before. It did take long for me to consider her a favorite... and sing along to the whole disc!

OMG. I totally remember when this episode aired in 1985. It was this video and this song (Sweetheart Of The Rodeo) that started my crush on Emmylou Harris, even though I wasn't even quite old enough to drive yet. LOL

I saw her perform the Ballad of Sally Rose live at the Moon Shadow Saloon in Atlanta back when the album came out. Just loved it. Sat about 10 feet from the stage. Her voice goes right through you. Thanks for posting.

@hondo6387 - Yes, that was a beautiful show that I'll never forget. Diamond In My Crown left us stunned. Moonshadow was such a great place to hear music, and sometimes they had a dance floor...a few weeks before Emmy played, Rodney Crowell and a very young Vince Gill were there, another fine show.

Emmy Lou is outstanding in diamond in my crown; but also, we must give some of the credit on that song to Kennedy Rose, for their outstanding back up vocals, and they did most of the guitar playing; I was fortunate to have seen that original broadcast on Austin city limits in the 80s
