\m/ A huge one of those for you tone king. When it comes to getting new equipment such as pedals or amps I go to your channel before I start shopping. You always give a non biased review most of the time and I actually bought this amp. I'm mainly just a musician for myself I've never really been in many bands in my 10 years. I love not only your reviews but the products you show. Thank you for the info so I know what something is going to sound and act like before I plug into it. ROCK ON And keep those vids and reviews coming.

WOW! It really does sound better at high volume. I love tubes. They are so warm and punchy. I travel with my Fender Mustang because of its portability, but I love when I get home to plug into my old Marshall. I sent it out to have the master volume mod (I believe you did that to one of yours in a past video) so I get the breakup of high volume at normal (the nieghbors don't call the police!) output. Cheap and easy mod. And that speaker is a beast! I LOVE TTK reviews!

After much research and deliberation between all the speakers available by Eminence, I chose the Tonker after hearing samples on their website. The funny thing is... I am also replacing a Celestion Seventy80 that is standard in the Line6 Amplifi150. Upon Hearing that you got a recommendation from Tony at Eminence, and hearing how it sounds here, I am thrilled that I made the correct choice. My speaker is on its way from the factory and I can't wait to swap it out. Thanks for posting this video!

As a rule I only buy used cabs & speakers, they,re run in & ready to go. New speakers take too long to break in. Everything else is aged, why not speakers

I'd also checked out this same combo and picked up a NOS for my son 'cos he doesn't like my Boogies. Also chatted with Eminence and went with the DELTA PRO 12A ! Why? Flat curve, no coloration, massive power handling . . simply gives all that lovely tube sound plus greater projection. Let the amp get the sound and let the speaker throw it. Son plays all the Dimebag/Metallica/Pantera/Sabbath catalogue and loves it. . SG with P90's ! Thanks Tone King for a pointer in the right direction !!

After researching some video's, i went with 2 Eminence Tonker's,and 2 Red White and Blues in my Marshall AVT 412 which was loaded with some crappy speakers from the factory!!! i was blown away at how well it made the cab sound along with my US Crate V30.!

Tony Lucas is a damn genius tech. Email the guy with a question, no matter how detailed, and he personally gets back to you fast. They are a great company. Emi's might be the best overall value with the most consistent QC in the industry.

Guitar amps are a fuzzy area since they are used to get distorted sound. Solid state will have a higher wattage rating since they don't really break up and distort. Tube amps, on the other hand, don't have near the clean threshold that the solids do due to the nature of tubes. Which is why we like tube amps so much, they have natural characteristics. A tube amp will actually produce more watts than advertised, so will solid state, but to a much lesser degree than the tube.

Hey TTK! Kickass vid as always! I cant get how u dont have feedback from the amp when u dont play? You have any noise gate on? :)

If you have a different tone than the stock speakers in mind, then replace speakers. Sounds like a great idea, I think. It's a solid state amp right? Then impedance matching isn't that much of an issue, epecially if going up in ohms.

Let's see how close this Tonker is to the Fane it emulates. Hiwatt stacks could double as bass amps. Could the Tonker be used for bass?

I think it could be used to simulate 10,000 bees in a coke bottle , sounds squished like all the Dimebag gear. Same old tone. Does R&D exist at Randall? looks like an old KH. Why does it sound like a solid state?

depends on the amps and your how much volume and gain you have it at im currently in a nail biting sitoution with a 2x12 with celestion 50g's (100watts altogther) with a laney protube 100watts 4 el34 and 4 eec83 and jcm 800 copy but 2 extra tube's in the preamp. Trying to think of the best solution but keeping my current tone/and saving money but making sure my cab last otherwise il be replacing 2 speakers.

when an amps is marked at 50 watts thats kinda like the minimum output it goes over 50 watts when it's driven harder and it varies amoung amps what it true high wattage is even if their the same model line. By matching a 50 watt speaker to a 50 amps your essentailly choking it and it will fight back by burning out the speaker despite it matching. So it's important to get a speaker that's take's more then your amp put's out at minimum.

  • @Phishboy26

I am guessing a high wattage speaker would not be good for a auto biasing amp? Lets say you have a Traynor YCV80 and you want a Eminence Tonker instead of the Celestion Seventy 80. Would you need a biasing mod?

What goes on is that we like the sound of power tubes breaking up so we crank them and they put out a lot of power. We could crank a solid state amp and it will also put out a lot of power, but we don't like the sound of power transistors breaking up so we never go there.

Hey TK love your videos, I have a Randall RG 8040 should I up grade my speaker?... Also I am kinda low on cash, but do you think that it's a good idea to utilize my combo amp and run it to a Randall RV212 to create a mini stack?..

kinda... getting a higher wattage speaker than your amp will make it sound cleaner. If i put a 100 watt speaker into a 1 watt amp, the amp will sound really clear. If i put a 1 watt speaker into a 1 watt amp, its going to sound a little bit crunchy because the speaker will enter distortion

Don't make assumptions and then try to prove someone with a horrible condition to research into things wrong because i can accept being wrong with evidence to back why am wrong. If an amps maximum is 50 watts at full volume you wouldn't get any overdrive maybe a little fizz from being brought to it's limet the term overdrive in amps come's from overdriving the tubes past what their intended. I did explain it badly mechanically it's 50 watts but other factors change that.

You failed to do the main hard rock speaker tesT!!! "Chug chug chug" at high volume with lots of bass. Thats when you really know how well that thing is taking it.

Im a bit suss on this amp. Where was it built? What valve combination does it use? What is the speaker Randall fitted. The re was no basic tonal characteristics associated with valve amps. Is it a re-badged Ashton? The sound is identical to 10watt Gorrilla with a heavy metal pedal. Seriously, does anyone at Randall believe the RT should,ve gone into production. Who is this "amp"being targeted at. ?
