Nice interview! I can definitely say Joost has helped me big time some time ago with figuring out issues within a complex system with up to 2500W of flashes of LED lights and many other features. Learned a lot from him and like every engineer, we will never stop learning, and what a blessing that is, such an interesting multidisciplinair and overall complex field to work in.

Most engineers I know have stopped learning after maybe 5 years of experience I believe

@AlbertRei3424 Well, I guess that is indeed true for a lot of engineers, but I do think that is also quite related to what type of company/job you end up working. 🤔 As probably everyone, I have my up and down periods in my time, energy. This naturally affects the moments and effectiveness of learning. I do think engineering can be a very stressful, high-pressure field to work in, also with a lot of constant improvements and new insights, which can be quite hard to distinguish which ones are correct and worth while to read into. A few points (of many more) of what I think can cause engineers to stop actively learning after ... years of experience.

the real question is: when we need to shield and when we don't? thanks for the podcast.

An added question I have on this question is, when does it hurt to add a (properly designed shield)? Something I never have understood is: If a decision is made to not add (proper) shielding to a design, only based on a cost reduction. Also, sometimes making a design can feel like over-designing now, but it can also mean it is more prepared for the future.
