🏥 EMERGENCY SURGERY | Oliver Could Have Died 😢

[Vlog 1.4.22] - Oliver's stomach flipped (GVD) at some point on the evening of January 3, 2022. Gastric Dilation and Volvulus (GVD), also know as bloat, stomach torsion and twisted stomach, refers to stomach distension and twisting. It occurs when the stomach fills with gas, fluid or food causing it to swell. It then does a 180 to 360 degree twist on itself - referred to as volvulus.

I agree. I have had a similar situation with me and my daughter actually and Thankfully all turned out beautifully! God is good! I had a knot come up on my Thyroid and went and had it checked and it was just a cyst. Six months later my daughter got strep and the lady felt a knot so I took her with me to my check up and hers was pre-cancer. Got it out immediately and she is perfect. Mine has since gone away. No way that was not God’s intervention. .

We lost our childhood dog due to bloat. It’s terrifying and it comes completely out of nowhere. He was older, and wouldn’t be comfortable during recovery, etc. We decided to put him down then. That was 13 years ago. It’s still scary to think about now, and how random it is. I’m so glad Ollie is okay, I’ve been watching you guys casually for so many years (since the dollar tree days!) and I couldn’t even imagine losing him. He is blessed to have you guys. Much love

@@andreaf5765 Hi Andrea. I can't say that they ever officially retired Ollie, but after Mary got on her new meds, and is doing so much better, Ollie wasn't with them in the car whenever they'd leave home, and Mary no longer needed to have him support her when she was having a coughing fit, as her meds have greatly diminished her coughing. I was just so used to seeing the sweet boy that it was hard when I wasn't seeing him with them everywhere they went. As far as I know, Mary no longer needs him as a service dog. Ollie is likely enjoying his down time, now that he is dealing with Arthritis, and that down time is very much deserved.

I’m so thankful Ollie is okay! I’m a standard poodle breeder in NC. I educate all my puppy parents on the importance of a gastropexy when spaying/neutering. This tacks the stomach to the wall of the abdomen. It does not prevent bloat, but it prevents torsion; which is the fatal part of bloat.

Oh my gosh his little face at the end. I can't have furry pets but I have always wanted a dog like ollie. I am so glad he has attentive parents that got him to the vet on time. He's so precious.

Oh wow, I'm so thankful that he's doing ok. I've been tearing up off and on throughout the video. I've been following you for years - at least 5? Because of you and Ollie that we decided on a standard poodle and she has been the absolute best addition to our family and I would never go back to any other type of dog.

So happy to hear Ollie boy is okay! Both my girls are big, deep chested dogs, and they're both rambunctious, so my biggest fear is them twisting their stomachs. It's reassuring to see Oliver make it through okay.

So glad your sweet miracle boy is back to his tail-wagging self! I can imagine this is so stressful to deal with on top of newborn life, but with the help of the medication the Lord has provided you guys are absolutely the best parents to both your 4 legged and 2 legged miracle boys ❤️ count your many blessings!
