Hey Rob, just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. I am a new collector, just have a few number 2 D-Lites, monarchs and little wizards. But it’s a good place to start. I am having the same problem with one of my little wizards. I ordered some new wicks, when they come in I am going to disassemble it, clean it out and blow out the tubes and see if that fixes the problem. It’s an older lamp so I don’t think it’s a Chinese problem. But I do have one other question for you. What kind of globe do you have on this lamp. I have a few older lamps with original ruby red globes and I am afraid to burn them. They are in mint condition and I would hate to see them start to deteriorate. I love red globes but I am having a hard time finding globes to fit some of these.

I got a Embury Little Air Pilot No. 1 Lantern (exactly like yours with a red globe) at an estate auction and I was wondering if you possibly knew what it was used for or what was its function back in the day?

I wanted to post again as I had watched a video which addressed flame issues. one of the comments was of a flame which got brighter and also fluctuated with burn time, turned out the wick was a little too thin for the burner slot. As such when the lantern fount warmed up and the fuel was expanding it was also off gassing and it was this gas which was escaping along the gap between the wick and the burner slot. Installing a new wick solved the problem. The video also showed this happening with an inexpensive Chinese lantern and the owner simply used pliers to pinch the slot at the very top of the burner a little tighter together and the problem went away. I hope this is of interest.

Hi Rob, isn’t that seal all kind of thick like silicone caulk? I was just wondering how fluid it would be to be able to slosh around on the inside of the tank....you might have to apply it on the outside to be able to get a seal but you will be able to see it but I don’t know if this was your plan anyway hope you get that flame better too in that embury maybe there is something clogged in the air tubes that your work air compressor can blow out. Keep us posted and have a great day. Ken

Hey Ken, Yeah, it's actually not too thick, and I poured it in and and it spread over the bottom, actually quite nicely. It was recommended by another lantern collector so, I thought I'd take a chance on it. And, it's $2.70, and not $20. The Embury will get attention soon, I was burning it most of the night and it was doing better with the new wick but, at one point it snuffed it's self and then I relit it and was burning high, then I adjusted it and then it was fine but, yeah somethings causing it to not burn regular but, it is a neat lantern. :) I'm uploading a video about the "OK" so, hope you watch it and we'll see how the Seal All works.

Hey Paul: beautiful lamp, did they ever build smaller versions of this style?

Hi Paul! Embury made two sizes, the No.0 standard size, and then a No.2 size. This Embury Air Pilot is about as tall as a Dietz Little Wizard, they share the same globe size. The streamline design of the Air Pilot came about in 1939 and was produced into the 1950s. Dietz bought out Embury by 1956 or so, and then sold the tooling and dies to Mexico. Mexico produced lanterns (forgive me, I can't recall the companies name down there) these Air Pilots into the 1960s I believe. I wonder where the dies are now?

@@Rayo_Rob_No.17 I was being facetious, I apologize. I found it humorous that you were called Paul! I follow you and your content and I have a very nice Dietz #2 Blizzard that you restored. It's a great burning lantern and looks great 🍻
