Embed your Storyline and Captivate courses using iframes

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I'll show you how you can embed your published Storyline and Captivate courses into any webpage using iframes, which is a very simple HTML code. If you can copy and paste, you can do this, I promise!

You encounter iframes all the time without knowing it. Iframes are just "frames" that feature content hosted elsewhere. They are especially useful when featuring elearning content. Ever embed a KZread video into another webpage? That was an iframe.
Iframes will work with WordPress (like this site), or with Weebly, or Wix, or WordPress.com, or anyplace else where you can create free or cheap websites. It may not work in closed systems, like Learning Management Systems that require a login and discourage embedding outside content.
Use iframes when you want a published course to be part of a larger webpage. You'll often want to do this when you are creating your elearning portfolio, for instance. It's really nice to embed your courses so users can instantly interact with them, rather than giving them a link and forcing them to open it in a new tab or window.
You do have to have your elearning content hosted somewhere (I strongly recommend Google Cloud Storage (free!), and even offer directions on how to set it up.)

Hi, thanks so much for this video. It's the furthest I've got trying to embed my Captivate project on my Wix website. I am getting a 403 error when I am copying the code onto my HTML embeded code. I'm not sure if I am choosing the file in Google Drive correctly. I have a folder with all the assets but I can't find the file you show on my folder. Only the index.html , goodbye.html and ar, vr, dr and assets. Can you help me? I would really appreciate it as I feel I am so close and yet so far. Thanks

Hi Susan, I'm not sure where you are going wrong. Are you able to use your project with the index.html link after you upload to Google Cloud Storage? If you aren't, try this video first: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWx6yMeJdpO8ldY.html. There's a section there where I demonstrate how to publish in Captivate, and then I upload the published folder to Google Cloud Storage. Also - be sure you are using Google Cloud Storage, not Google Drive! Here's a video on using Google Cloud Storage: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2Z_yKaLg5OsoZs.html Other troubleshooting ideas: be sure your bucket is public in Google Cloud Storage (GCS). You can also try using a different browser - Google Chrome is best to use with GCS.

I had another thought: be sure the URL you are using is correct for the index.html file. It's important you write it out with "https" at the beginning, not just "http." Many websites won't let you embed http websites, only https!

@@LindsayONeill Thanks so much for your reply! I very much appreciate it! I will watch the videos now and see if I can sort the problem out. I was using Google Drive but I am now using the Google Cloud Storage, my only problem is that my files aren't public. Any tips on how to create a bucket with public files, however I will go and watch the video just in case you already cover that topic.
