this is very relevant. our team has published many tutorials to our company intranet outside of the company's LMS. that is actually the norm for us. uploading to the LMS has to go through committee and can take forever. in our setup the team creating the most content is a different team than the LMS team so we have to jump through hoops to get our content to the LMS. we don't have the time. a lot of our e-learning stuff does not need to be monitored or graded. it just needs to be available for the users asap

As far as I know you cannot. SharePoint doesn't support HTML files as a web server. If it's possible it would require converting your HTML files to PHP files but the difficulty would be correcting for all the references to the original HTML files.

Everything should be the same. Once you upload the published project folder to your AWS account, everything else will be completed in a browser. I would review the video again and see if any steps were missed. If you still have trouble with this, you can purchase some one-on-one time with me, and I can review it with you. bit.ly/Cp1on1

Hi Paul, thanks for this great video! I followed all the steps and I got the "upload successful" message, but then I didn't see the red, "Publicly available" banner upon hitting "close". Do you have any thoughts or recommendations as to why that could be? If so, thank you!

This tutorial is excellent. I was able to easily follow your steps and publish two examples of my captivate work to my portfolio. They look terrific. In the past, I was restricted to using an elearning add-on and only publishing responsive courses. Now the world is wide open! BUT... one small problem. After I upload the files into AWS/S3, my audio seems to go missing! Do you (or any of your viewers) have any idea how I can get my audio back?

There are some solutions for storing to a database rather than an LMS but I don't personally have experience with these solutions. Check out www.infosemantics.com.au for solutions related to this.

I have watched this video and followed the steps to the letter multiple times yet I continue to get an "AccessDenied" message when I click on the URL to test/copy. Is there something I can do to correct this? I have set up multiple buckets with every imaginable option of permissions yet I arrive at the same error message each time. I'm not having much luck with locating any live technical support assistance from AWS, I just find myself going down different Q&A rabbit holes. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciatedI

Thank you for this, why doesn't my captivate have a publish to my computer option? Only publish device, publish to devices (app), ADobe connect and Adobe Prime.

You have a responsive design project open. This replaces the word Computer with Device since responsive includes other devices such as mobile. The publishing process is the same in every way that matters.

Do you have a video on that?

Just perform a Google search for web server and you will see many to choose from. There are even some open source web servers (FREE) as well.

Well I just realized I missed the Learning Solutions Conference that happened 45 mins away from my house. I will be there in 2023.

Thanks for this helpful video. Is there an alternate to the Amazon Web Service? Using AWS, I've had some issues in which my project doesn't work consistently across different browsers, e.g. videos and audio files are sometimes delayed or overlays acting strangely.

Not that I've used. I would search for web server providers on Google and see what comes up.

Hi Paul, how to save the user progress when publishing to the Web site? I mean if the course is too long and cant be completed the same day how can one save all the user progress?

Check out the second of the two options in this video to see how you can add bookmarking when no LMS is used. Keep in mind that it uses local storage so learners will have to relaunch the course from the same device in order to recall the previous progress: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJ6V0qmal5yshZc.html

Can you publish from your LMS to your website and manage from LMS but have ppl connect thru your website?

Check with your LMS provider. My guess is that your SCORM manifest would communicate with your LMS properly but you never know. Every LMS is different.

You can print to PDF but I don't think it's what you're looking for. You will lose all interactivity.

@@CaptivateTeacher Thanks for replying Paul. I actually want to allow a learner to type something in a text entry box, then output it using a text box. Then if they prefer, they'll be able to download a pdf file of the typed paragraph. Is there any way to do this?

Is there a way to publish a course to computer if it is not created as a blank project? I designed my course as a responsive project, and it seems like the only way to get the 'publish to computer' option is to create as a blank project.

Publish to computer is the same process as publish for device. Responsive design assumes you are also publishing for mobile devices so it just says device.

If your intention is to merely upload it to a web server for display on a web site, just make sure that eLearning Output (reporting to an LMS) is not selected.
