First of all this is Elzhi my friends, he's a legendary cat himself coming from the legendary group Slum Village (90s cats) Who was produced by the one and only J Dilla, so he has every right to make a tribute album to Nas and pulled it off pretty amazingly you gotta admit , Peace to the Gods and Knowledge seekers out there!

you take elzhi and put him in the same spotlight with kendrick doing some of the same songs that made him hot and I bet money elzhi would shine bright and even more so cause he's a better all around lyricist a lot of u cats dickride these commercial marketed emcees and few of them like kendrick have an underground influenced flow so it makes him elite on the commercial circuit it's nothing more than that quite a few of the underground emcees u put them on the same tracks u put mainstream rappers on and they will shine bright too so popularity in mainstream music and album sales don't measure how great your skill is with the art that's fools gold thinking like that!!!

Being lyrical alone doesn't make you the best. The best rapper is the best overall. Thats like saying Kevin Durant is the best player because he scores the best. LeBron's the best because he can do it all. Same here. This guy has bars, no doubt. But Kendrick has a full package. Y'all are just being bias because you don't want your opinion to be wrong. There's a reason Kendrick is in the position he is.
@brianmcleod7821
8 жыл бұрын
The reason Kendrick is where he is because..... Interscope and mass marketing! It just happens that hes an actual lyricists in the main stream but Lyrically he would get sliced and diced from Elzhi, Locksmith, King Los, probably even diabolic could slice him up.
@brianmcleod7821
8 жыл бұрын
The reason ya'll call Kendrick the king is because that's what they push onto you. The fact your sheepish enough to believe it is insane. Anyone with a real ear knows hes not even a top 5 lyricists and thats fact.period
@lifestraight
8 жыл бұрын
+Brian Mcleod Interscope and mass marketing. You are correct. Good points. There are other rappers who are equally if not more talented that don't get the recognition and as you said the marketing and the Dr. Dre co-sign are a HUGE reason.
@brianmcleod7821
8 жыл бұрын
+lifestraight exactly bro, If Elzhi or locksmith had the Interscope machine pushing them and radio playing their tracks 24/7 they'd bury Kendrick. I am sorry for all the kendrick dick riders but it's true, there's way more talent in the underground then Kendrick, they just go un-noticed, with relatively 0 air play.

Damn, I didn't realize this dropped nearly 9 years ago. Time flies. Still shits on a lot of today's MCs.
His flow is old school! I could listen to this all day, Respect bro!
This kid is nice...one of the BEST TRIBUTES I've ever seen/heard.
I wish people would stop bringing up Kendrick Lamar on Elzhi videos.

Happy Birthday ElZhi!!salute from Mozambique
This is the song that introduced me to Elzhi's *lyrical greatness.* I've been a fan ever since. It helps that he remade one of my favorite hip hop songs. I had to steal this beat for myself and make my own version💪🎤
Elzhi is one of the few people that can recreate illmatic and get away with it
One of the absolute greatest "cover" albums ever
How is this guy not on everybody's top 10?! Spits pure fire!
The second I heard the first line I laughed...I knew I was in the presence of the best rapper of our time.
Elzhi, you're sic on the mic. SIC!!!
Timeless classic!!
All the way from #SouthAfrica 🙌 I first heard of Elzhi when I was bumping Royce's bar exam 2(Royal flush) and since then I've been a fan of dude 🙌
Damn its crazy how he got nas beat and switched it up. Dope
One of my favorite songs of all times

Finally, getting out there Elzhi. I've been a fan for like 3 years. Detroit saving hip-hop nuff said.
DAMN YOUNG SOLDIER YOU ARE HOPE MADE A OG CRY.
Damn how I never heard this! Dope!
TBH I wasnt expecting much especially considering the title. Its actually pretty damn good.
Sad how this barely has 305 views... Elzhi is so much better than anybody else.
Crazy that this is 11 years old now, danm!
😳🔥🔥🔥🔥☕ where have I been? Very very nice... Thank you.
HE KILLED IT.
Wow, it's actually pretty good to see Elzhi with a VEVO. A lot of people gonna get turned on to one of the greatest of all time.
You can never write better than this! 😷
He did this justice .. much respek Nas
maaaan, this ish is soooo dope man, nice tribute to nas, good flip to the beat...classic
This is nice as hell. He did an outstanding job on this song. nas is proud for sure.
How can anyone not like this gem, amazing pure hip-hop....the flow, the beat, everything wow...
Killed it!!! So dope.
Whats with all the Kendrick comparisons? They're both great but Elzhi is 10x better lyrically. Just bars, no beats, no instrumentals. Just bars. Elzhi would rip him apart.

JuliusC. Yeah I respect Kendrick. He's got lyrics and good songs. But I definitely think Elzhi slaughters Kendrick. Better lyrics, better story telling, and I prefer his flow.
I love Elzhi, I was filled with excitement when I noticed they made a music video to this track, i love it. everyone download his mixtape off datpiff!
Instant classic! True to the old skool, voice over beat, the message and flow is the definition of Hip hop!
You can only trust an MC like Elzhi to pay homage to a classic from Illmatic.
1:39 this line touched me on a personal level
I’m here because I JUST sat down and ate Hennessy chicken wings in Brooklyn with Elzhi as he introduced me to the cat who directed this video over a decade ago…
Absolutely amazingly dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This Kid is so Nice real Hip-Hop Wow
Damn this guy's sick.
Back again in 2021....Yeap its still Hard ASF

Dope song! 🎶 🎶 🔥 🔥
Brave Man. And did a great job.
Huge Nas fan n this shit is dope ! keep up the good work !
nice cover of nas ✊
This is uncut dope from Bolivia 🇧🇴
TRue, it ain't hard to tell! He is sick!
Bet you made Nas proud - awesome track.
you take elzhi and put him in the same spotlight with kendrick doing some of the same songs that made him hot and I bet money elzhi would shine bright and even more so cause he's a better all around lyricist a lot of u cats dickride these commercial marketed emcees and few of them like kendrick have an underground influenced flow so it makes him elite on the commercial circuit it's nothing more than that quite a few of the underground emcees u put them on the same tracks u put mainstream rappers on and they will shine bright too so popularity in mainstream music and album sales don't measure how great your skill is with the art that's fools gold thinking like that!!!

***** Can you explain to me why you think Kendrick is garbage? Because I used to think the same thing but he really isn't.
I've listened to a few of this guy's songs to see why people say hes better than Kendrick. You guys are dumb if you think this dude is better. King Kendrick isn't just a name it's a title which is well deserved.
@VividEquation

I guess I'll continue being "dumb" then. Im a huge Kendrick Lamar fan but from an MCing stand point, Elzhi is levels above Kendrick..that's not to say that you can't be fans of both. Just quit the comparisons and enjoy the music.

He talks about alot of "shit" idk what u mean bro
Being lyrical alone doesn't make you the best. The best rapper is the best overall. Thats like saying Kevin Durant is the best player because he scores the best. LeBron's the best because he can do it all. Same here. This guy has bars, no doubt. But Kendrick has a full package. Y'all are just being bias because you don't want your opinion to be wrong. There's a reason Kendrick is in the position he is.
@brianmcleod7821
8 жыл бұрын
The reason Kendrick is where he is because..... Interscope and mass marketing! It just happens that hes an actual lyricists in the main stream but Lyrically he would get sliced and diced from Elzhi, Locksmith, King Los, probably even diabolic could slice him up.
@brianmcleod7821
8 жыл бұрын
The reason ya'll call Kendrick the king is because that's what they push onto you. The fact your sheepish enough to believe it is insane. Anyone with a real ear knows hes not even a top 5 lyricists and thats fact.period
@lifestraight
8 жыл бұрын
+Brian Mcleod Interscope and mass marketing. You are correct. Good points. There are other rappers who are equally if not more talented that don't get the recognition and as you said the marketing and the Dr. Dre co-sign are a HUGE reason.
@brianmcleod7821
@lifestraight

Shockheadd45 Blueprint 2 was a great rebuttal, I'll admit, but Nas has had more than one top tier album. He had Illmatic, It Was Written, and Stillmatic. Jay-Z has fallen off considerably since his Reasonable Doubt days.
Old School yet soooo Fresh!
This guy has vevo now? That means he's getting bigger!! About time America.
