From what ive heard, the double pricing is because of some internal upgrades ie internal wiring and added crossover on top of the collab cable. So i understand how the price doubled but idk why they did that if it doesnt make much difference.

I LOVE how you explain spectral constitution of instruments and integral nature of perceived sound attributes. You can't just look at one small area of the frequency response and make even remotely reliable judgements/predictions on either the sound as a whole, or sound of particular instruments/ranges. Preach and teach!

About time someone had the kahonas to say it. I didn't want to buy both sets as I figured my conclusion would be the same and I would have spent double the OG to get a set I probably wouldn't pick up over the cheaper version. Good Vid Chris. There is always EQ or filters and Cables by the shillload!

I love that there's somebody out there going into the detail of how a kick drum is reproduced by IEMs. Would love to hear if you have a take on how IEMs sound for music enjoyment compared to more serious monitoring. As an amateur drummer, I'm leaning more towards driver clarity (like what you get with planars) being more useful than a relatively flat tuning - I can't speak for more modern high end stuff, but I used to find that more neutrally tuned stuff didn't handle complex tracks that well if the driver/s weren't that resolving in the first place. I monitor my electric drums with a pair of S12s currently and despite them being way more V-shaped than what I've had in the past, the clarity feels like it really helps me pick out what I'm playing and particularly if I'm playing over a busy track.

I had the same thought. I was so perplexed by the pricing of the Noir and Pilgrim that I just went with the DUSK instead, and I've been happy with that.

There's also better quality internal wiring AND a better 5 way crossover vs a 4 way crossover on the Pilgrim. I also remember reading that the ba's are a bit different in that a few were upgraded from one model/brand to another. Can't remember which? All that plus the cable is worth approx $300 from effect audio.

There are definitely some upgrades, but I think it's a convincing change in products over $1000. Pilgrim was valuable because he could make a great sound at that price.

This video reminds me same kinda situation in the realm of choosing custom bass guitar from famous brands. Some go for 6000-7000 , some for 10000-20000 .... won't mention any names. Is it justifiable to pay this much just to get a brand name logo on the headstock of your instrument? well, I guess , you can justify anything if you have tons of cash... and maybe it is a need for some musos to be a part of the legacy of one of those brands? At the end of the day it is all about music . If the tool you are using makes you happy in the process of using it, then price is secondary . Speaking of IEM's I am still on my Timeless OG for live work and Olina OG for everyday music listening. Thank you for your videos Sir! Love your passion. :)

Depends of the volume. At my 85db. The upper mids and treble goes up by 4 dB from 70db to 85 dB.

When they announced this early and I saw a video of them talking about these sets, it always felt like the Noir were pushed as a special edition collab that was much more expensive than needed to be. Looks like that has proved true.

I would also take the Noir, but not at double the price. Thanks for keeping it real bro!!

I think this should've been marketed as a limited or collectors version. It's something done for many other products to justify the bump in price.

Yeah, the driver on noir is a mix of sonion and knowles. Also you get spinfit W1+pretty black cable which is more expensive....tho not twice the price lol

What's the price of the Pilgrim (white box) and the effect audio cable combined?????? Is it still cheaper than the Noir(black box)????? 😮
