Other than the cable upgrade, Noir has a 4 way crossover setup running on different drivers compared to the vanilla Pilgrim.

Thought the Noir sounded interesting for the warmer tuning but double the price for what he described as essentially a better cable and carrying case... Sheesh.

We're talking about a different analog cable and case doubling the price. Oh, and the color black, I guess. Maybe that's an expensive black finish that darkens the sound.

Id only do it for kilobuck iems, but at that price they should already have an amazing fuckin cable. Never paid more than $60 for a cable and i think it was the Kinera Leyding

Implementation on the Pilgrim Noir is different, running a 4 drivers / 4 way crossover setup (vanilla Pilgrim is 4 drivers 3 way), I can also confirm that the Noir has a different type of mid and high BA drivers inside.

How does the pilgrim compare to studio4 and RSV for vocals? Which one is your favorite of the 3?

My small apartment, has a small lounging area and tiny open kitchen area all in one. The whole are is like 17-18 feet wall to wall from one end to the other. I literally am sat 5.5 feet from the fridge freezer turning on/off. I doubt the part-open design is something that would work. I prefer traditional IEM isolation. I also think they should do a set under the GAEA, using tradition resin painted shell with coloured cable. So a set like DIVA/GAEA, but for $899...

Placed an order the other day. Excited for the potential. Fingers crossed.

@kenneyt9 Glad to have it in my collection. You can definitely tell it comes from a unique house sound. Fun U shape. Quality bass. Clean. Airy. I don't really have anything else like it. I do agree with what others have said, however. You gotta change the tips, both for fit and to tame down any peaks you may hear. After that, great set.

This is pretty cool, but my immediate iem budget is spoken for 1. DaVinci 2. Relentless 3. Freya 2.0 That said, it is very cool that Elysian came out with an approachably priced iem. I have been lusting from afar for the Annihilator (whichever version, IDC). Great review and nice interview. I know cables can matter, but I haven't fully bought in on spending more than $50 on one yet...☮

The first 2 are high on my list as well. Still thinking on the Freya 2.0. The QoA Aviation is another possibility. 🤔 I seem to be a sucker for Kinera and its sub brands. Tangzu and Dunu are tied as my other company favorites, though because they always seem to be on point with their presentation and accessory package (in addition to consistent quality products in my experience).

The Variations sound a bit more smooth and not as sharp and incisive compared to Pilgrim, they're both great but I'd go for the sparky scalpel cleanliness than the heady treble of Variations

I tried both of these, the Noir is a hard pass. Seriously considering the Pilgrim original now as a great opposite to my Oracle MK1. At first I was shocked by how.. different it sounded to my daily driver Oracle. It was sharp, decisive, and technically ridiculous. I seriously thought it costed 750 dollars and was dumbfounded when I reasoned it was half what I expected.

It looks like a nice set, but I'm holding for the DaVinci!

What is the best IEM for gaming? Should I go for Truthear Crinacle blue, crinacle red, truthear hexa, or simgot ew200? Are they better than moondrop aria 2?

Got the Pilgrim. Good for classical. Not good for enjoyable depth and not good for cold weather where the metal is cold.

Why you limatate the comparation whit the 500dolar iems? Probably is even better tha the dunu davinchi rigth?

There's something I'm curious about. You placed Dunu SA 6 MK2 much higher in your rankings and gave higher scores than Pilgrim in your evaluations of bass, treble, etc. Then how can this product be the most technical IEM under 1000 dollars?

SA6MK2 is highly technical as well, but the Pilgrim is slightly more technical. Though, we're splitting hairs at this point. The quality differences are very minor. One more thing is that the differences between A+ and S- tier IEMs are also very minor.

@@Gizaudio I had a MONARCH MK3 but I had to sell it. Even though I liked its sound, it wasn't that good in terms of vocals. I hope Origin will do a better job with vocals. I don't think it can reach the level of MK3 in other areas, but this is not a problem for me.

that's because you're comparing apples to oranges. It's affordable within the Elysian spectrum. When you consider the Gaea and Diva were around the $1500 mark and the Annihilator at $3000+, the Pilgrim at $400 seems affordable in comparison.

Annihilator 2023 isnt as amazingly tuned as the old one. It has waaayy more bass. Still sounds amazing just not as well rounded for most genres anymore. Are you referring the og one in this video?

Heard it... it's like a upgraded Hexa, but not really impressive for it's price IMO. For me it's technical performance was pretty average, haven't heard the dusk but I would put it around the blessing 3 level, which is great but not outstanding. Even compared to the cheaper Cadenza 4, it seemed to have more rolled-off treble. Overall quite disappointing for an Elysian IEM.

How does it have "rolled off treble" this thing is bright af lol. Technicalities are closing with the Monarch MK3 to my ears with the Monarch sounding a bit better in timbre (probably due to having more mid bass and lower mids and a little more upper mids) but it's splitting hairs at that point. I certainly don't hear any missing notes on the Pilgrim that is on the Monarch.

As IEM's improve through time the price also becomes cheaper for higher and higher quality. In 5 or 6 years you'll be able to get something like the Pilgrim for $200 (add adjustments for inflation). So hang in there. I'm time you'll get your wish.

i imagine it's not a huge difference one way or the other sonically, if you find that dusk is more comfortable for you vs pilgrim, that's going to be a bigger deciding factor imo

It's not even close with UM mest 2. If Anni is smidge better, than it's sad. $400-600 tribrids like DTE500/ Moonlight 2023/Xenns Up/Volare/mega5 give more details. Pilgrim is just ok for it's price.

Studio4 is very bad
