    By the way, I believe that his greatest performances were in 1956 and 1957. When he played the Chicago Stadium in ‘57 he wore a gold lame’ suit. The Chicago papers said they had no idea if Elvis sang one word. The screams were constant and deafening. Two women literally jumped out of the balcony trying to get to Elvis. Pictures were in the Sun-Times. The first aid stations. were crowded with girls who had fainted! He truly looked like a Greek God!!!

    There is an interview with I think The drummer fontana from when Elvis was super young, and they were doing concerts, and the women were screaming so loud they couldn’t hear the music, the band couldn’t. And Fontana said I don’t think another band has ever played to the singers ass because they were just watching his Elvis his ass the way it moved to figure out where the song was at because they couldn’t hear anything. That’s literally one of the funniest interviews

    Thanks for your reaction. I have been a fan since the 50's now I am now 77 so Elvis fans never stop. He gave half his fortune away and loved his fans. Sold more recordings than anyone in history. All contemporary artist say Elvis inspired them from the Beetles on down. One of the great humanitarians so renond that there is a Elvis statue in every major country in the world.

    He was a black belt in karate. Same band he put together were with him until the day he died. No one like him. He was inducted into five Halls of Fame along with two state-wide Hall’s of Fame, I.e., Mississippi and Tennessee., thus seven Halls of Fame. The major five were: Gospel, Country, Rock n’ Roll, R&B and Rock a Billy. He received a Grammy for his Gospel. He’s sold over a billion songs and still going strong. No one has beat this record. His generosity is unmatched. He supported 50 charities in Memphis alone. The list is unending. There will never be another Elvis! To think of the severe poverty he came from, yet he made it. Could you please stop using the “F” word so much. I’m 76 and many Elvis fans are older than me. At this age. It hurts the soul. Thank you

    Great reaction, Rory, thanks! I heard this song a lot growing up but it usually wasn't Elvis singing, although I have heard this version as well. It was the song writer, Mark James who made the original record that I heard most. I was just a little kid but I heard it a lot. They say it didn't chart originally so that makes me think my older brother must have had the record... but I swear I heard it on the radio too. I think I like the original better but maybe that's just because I heard it the most. God I'm old.

    Totally disagree Peggy, Mark James original flopped on the charts and it lacked the soul and energy of Elvis’s version in fact it was mark who thought Elvis could do a good job on it and gave it personally to him

    Elvis sent this song souring into the charts at #1 all over the world. He's the one who made it famous, not the song writer. It was a huge hit in my Country too. 🇿🇦

  • @memphisflashfan1

    @memphisflashfan1

    Yea, that happened from the point where he startled Myrna to after he does the triple spin away from the Sweets back to the center of the stage. And then the image came back up. Regarding your comments Rory about EP and Ronnie and also how he actually is giving signals to the band, here’s what I’ve read elsewhere about all that. I think it was Ronnie who said that “EP directed the band with his body movements. Backing Elvis was like playing for a stripper. We had to be on our toes at all times because he liked to be spontaneous on stage. Nothing was choreographed. He took audience requests and sometimes would decide on the spur of the moment to perform a song he liked that he had never rehearsed with the band.” So all those hand motions were a combo of his love for karate and signaling what he wanted them to do. Great review as always.
