It wasnt live. It was pre-recorded. You can see it when he broke at the end. Probably was still his voice, but a studio version. He was just meant to play along. Its sad how many in the comments will say how absolutely used he was (and he was), but not see the detail that by the end, he couldnt even perform live anymore, and its a question on if he was just a puppet for the another artist hired by the Colonel; singing songs for him in Elvis' tones, and left uncredited.
@alexdanalibaba5085

@@schribbler1592 This particular video is pretty weird. The vocals seem to be live but the instruments aren't. If you compare with this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZqivMSjdrO5org.html, which sounds like a raw live recording, you can tell it's the same vocals. In that version at roughly 3:34 he quickly says something like "hang in with it", and in this video you can hear the same thing at 3:18. The instruments here, including both Elvis's piano and the band, seem to be added later and are frankly a lot better than the original. They also seem to have stretched out his final high note in both versions for some reason, as you can hear him do a sort of "throat sound" and visibly stop singing at the end lol. The overall quality of the recording is also way better. I'm guessing they just touched up the entire performance to be even more powerful, as this was his final show as far as I know. Still, the vocals seem to be relativly untouched and it's pretty amazing that he was able to sing like this just a couple of weeks before he died. It's because of this I consider him one of, if not the best signer ever.
@awalshe77

When he's speaking, he's like a dying man 40-50 years older than his age of 42 at the time. When he's singing, he's transported back in time and gives all his life force to this performance. I do not care about what people say about Elvis' looks at 42. I dare anyone to sing that song the way Elvis just performed that song. His own show of operatic prowess 🎵. He could dance. The man's musical genius had no limits.

Me too! I watched the movie about 10 times already and every time that scene gets me. Besides, I've read something about that performance; it wasn't in the concert schedule but Elvis absolutely wanted to sing it, as he loved Unchained Melody, but the band wasn't ready as they didn't have the time to do the rehearsal for it. So Elvis said, I will do it just myself at the piano, as long as Charlie (Hodge) shows me the accords (Elvis played instruments by heart as he was self-taught, you probably know it). During that concert, all musicians were worried about him as his blood pressure was sky high, along with many other health issues and the notes of Unchained Melody are high, so they put him under pressure for breathing and Elvis has already started to suffer from emphysema. But as always, he did want to do his best for his fans and went ahead and sing it.

@alexdanalibaba5085

@awalshe77

Yep this WAS an original performance but was heavily edited later to make it sound more.... emotive, well-rounded. Especially the ending. The original one is equally powerful but it a more raw way.

God gave this man a gift. He passed away before I was born but he has been a part of my life for over 30 years. I thank God for the gift of Elvis Presley ❤
When he's speaking, he's like a dying man 40-50 years older than his age of 42 at the time. When he's singing, he's transported back in time and gives all his life force to this performance. It's unfathomable how he was able to put together that much of a performance in that state and is a testament to all the talent and commitment he had. He was almost literally singing himself to death with any and everything that still remained within him.

So the piano you hear here and on the album and even in the new Elvis movie iss Ogdin not Elvis playing

He didn't want to do this he didn't want anyone to see him like this, but Tom Parker forced him to do it. I hated Parker hate is a strong word but it fits when it comes to Parker. Elvis was my friend for 10 yrs. up until his death. E. knew he was dying long before he actually did.I will love and miss my friend always. We had a short conversation in his final days i will never share that last talk i had with my friend because people tend to run off at the mouth about things they simply don't know what they are talking about. regards from the one and only Memphis Tn.

i just looked up everything on his death investigation and you are completely wrong and id say deluded. It was totally related to drug reactions and an arrythmia. He was over prescribed pain killers that would've affected his heart in combination with the weight gain and drug allergies.

@@Bonita-1776 ur deluded, nothing of what youve claimed is in his death trials or his autopsy, he definitely had the deficiency but no claims or any proof of disease from it. They scientifically proved what was going on in his system and it was drug and heart and weight related. Looks like codeine played a major part on the last day. his drug overdoses wouldve scarred his heart too..
Searched this after watching the film. I’m not one to cry at films but this hit me. How he was taken advantage of and how this was for his girls. Goosebumps every time. Legend

This was the best part of the movie , it was actually the only tolerable scene in the god damn pile of horse shit movie , I was so disappointed tonight I could not believe how they did the king with that weird ass comic book knock of marvel singing movie what a shit show literally , and Tom Hanks what in the fuck movie night as well had just been about the col , they skipped over so much of his storied life and career just pure garbage , what’s needed is to bring back the same actor and make an entirely different film with class worthy of the King a movie like Walk The Line the amazing Johnny Cash movie , I’m still fuming thank god I didn’t go to the theater of spend an extra dime on that dog shit movie that Baz should be executed on sight for theft of a legacy and that greedy bitch Priscilla should be slapped senseless

man it’s sad to see an amazing artist deteriorating like this all due to someone they put their life and trust in their hands … the manager and even his father. It’s amazing he was so short of breath and sweating bullets and was able to sing so beautifully. now i’m much younger only in my 30s but i feel that this performance he sang his heart out because he knew it may be his last and he loved his fans dearly and he wanted to give them his all for one last time . i’m shocked he wasnt crying during this .

@@philipswilson For me is a recorded song. Im a really Elvis fan but this make me doubt: -2:34 He stops singing and smiles, but the song continues. -3:09 He close the mouth and smile again, but the song continues. -4:12 if you listen carefully, you can hear elvis go like an aaag (when he opens his mouth all the way) but the song continues. -4:18 If he's using the only piano on stage, that's not possible...he literally took the hands off the piano, and the piano it kept playing What i think? For me there's no chance that Elvis could sing the way he sounded, given his physical condition. And for that they use a recorded song :) (obvious he is the real one wee hear, but not live).
