Elvis Presley - Unchained Melody (Live Comparisons)
Музыка
In this video I compare 7 live versions done by Elvis Presley of the song Unchained Melody, which originally was recorded by The Righteous Brothers in 1965. The different versions are all from live concerts between 1976 and 1977. In all of these 7 live versions Elvis does an amazing job, and in my opinion makes the best cover of the song. The power and strength in his voice, despite his declining health, and the piano play, just gives the song a heavenly touch.
Enjoy!

I sat outside a local record store in my hometown on 17/08/1977 while Elvis' rendition of "Unchained Melody" filled the streets. I was 13 years old...
What a voice I enjoyed it very much. Elvis's voice will live forever.

Beautiful angel in heaven with our savior I love you Elvis for ever in my heart till the day I die rest in peace our famous angel rest in heaven with your.mother and father rest Forever my beloved angel
I was stunned when I first heard him sing this in 1977. Stunned. I didn’t know at the time that anyone else much cared for it. I am pleased to learn after all of this time that millions of others were just as affected. Opera for the common people with soul.

I will never get tired of seeing and hearing Elvis even his last two concerts he was still the most beautiful man inside and out with a voice that was so strong and powerful it just fills my heart with so much happiness and joy he will be the brightest star up in the sky and it will never dim forever in my heart ❤️
His voice range was beyond any other singer
Elvis Presley there will be another voice like Elvis no one can replace to him elvis forever amazing voice gift to God😇😇☝️thank youvery much Lord for given us Elvis,, RIP
Love Elvis ! ♥️ My favorite for 50 years and still counting. No auto tune back then , just pure talent !
Elvis was a class act thru and thru!! One of the best human being to ever grace this planet..There will never ever be another!!
Elvis can sing other song like unchained melody an be the best at it. He's is fantastic an I'm so glad God put him on earth for us. He's one hell of a performer .I luv Elvis so much. Luv to hear him sing unchained melody. That high voice. Wow he's did it. 😘👑👑👑🌹🌹❤️💜💚🧡💓
This is proof Elvis was even better toward the end of his career !!!! The notes he was hitting was incredible I wish people would of appreciated the gifts that he so freely gave the world.there were a lot of good reviews toward the end bad also some bad and it was like the music industry turned their back on him but regardless when he died moody blue was number 1 and he finished his career on the top not like some people try to say that he was washed up etc. it just pisses me off that he had so much more to give but the Lord called him home I hope he’s at peace in heaven.

Perhaps he wasn't physical on top at the end, but he for sure still had the best voice, and an extremely range. And you are right, some of the notes he could reach at the end of his career, was absolutely amazing.

I agree,no way was he washed up at the end, he wasn't a well person and he gave his all for his fans right up until the end . He is the best and they broke the mould when they made Elvis, he could sing anything and had an incredible vocal range which was completely natural, he never needed vocal coaching and as his Mama sId it was god given. I'll never stop loving him ❤️
Those higher and higHER NOTES ....man...shivermetimbers ❤🙏❤💃🙃
What a man and voice !!!
Makes me cry... Its like he is singing to his last love and going home to her... Maybe even singing to go home, to his Mother, missing her and longing for her gentile touch, needing her love... God Speed... May he rest in Peace
Love it what a singer
I hear him and I cry, he gave it his all, you can hear his breathing in his last concert. If he would've just be taken care of, in the beggining of the last concert he took an inhaler before he went on. STILL HIS VOICE WAS FANTASTIC!
Wow! The last 2 versions he ever did 'live' (25th and 21st June 1977) were Easily the Best! 😀
Thank you for this. Born 1980, August I turn 42. I obviously am familiar with Elvis but just recently found him. I can't stop listening and learning about him. I believe I just fell in love with him, ( I love no celebrity) maybe because I can identify with him with addiction? Albeit he didn't understand he was a drug addict I don t believe and he was surrounded by yes men and had access to whatever he wanted so....... the drugs the King was addicted to are more powerful than anything we have today . I can't imagine. I'm 2 weeks sober today , 6 year old daughter I want to be here for. 🙏 Elvis has helped me get through a few days here , today included. I'm leaving work right now which is maybe my biggest trigger but not today. Not being intoxicated today.

I think my favorite one is…. ALL OF THEM!! Elvis Is unbeatable!!
Is it possible to listen to this and not get the chills? I don't think so....
my favorite version was on 12/31/76 in pittsburgh and he followed it with rags to riches only time he did it live both so beautiful i cry miss him so much ♡
Angel voice
Thank you for these comparisons.

Thank you so much for sharing these comparisons with us! Extraordinary interpretation. He was a Great Man. I was 23 when he died, followed by John Lennon he was, is and will always be my biggest idol.
The first 2 are rough, the 3rd is a mess, so thank goodness it just about came right on 31 Dec 1976. Proper rehearsals could have put this right. (I have been a committed fan for nearly 59 years so I'm just being objective, here)

You think the 3rd is a mess? Personally I think he hits some great vocals here. But perhaps these performances weren't as tight as they've could been.

Very good video! Comparison done well!! Just one looked like he was singing in the dark until lights turned on! 💐🔥💐🔥💐. Elvis this was your best to my ears!
This song is from movie Godfather.
Thank you ! Thank so much for sharing the Heavenly Performance Eternal Voice Long Live The King 👑
1:40 he's the only person that came back for a single wrong note and correcting it instead of letting it go while in live performance.
Do you know when he sang this? I know he sang it At his last concert 6/19/77, but his breathing was heard different. This sounds very good. Oh! The second one sounds like his last concert.

@@TheElvisShow I believe the last time he sang this song live was June 25th, 1977 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pure magic.
Thanks so much for this, they were all great I think number 2 was a bit dodgy but I think that was just the recording issue, the piano sounded louder than his voice, probably a fan recording, not like these days when just our phones giving great videos and recordings !!! The arbor mill one that's on moody blue over-dubbed yet its a fantastic version, pure live at the piano, but record companies obviously didn't want that !!! I'm glad you did these because I looked for the arbor mill one but couldn't find it. I do love Moody Blue album, its one of my favourite elvis albums yet not as live as I thought. When I was young,I was 8 when he died, and further on in my life thinking that was pure live, I'd been a fan since around 6 or maybe younger because my mam us a huge fan we both still are for life. The one CBS did, personally why didn't they do one earlier than they did even 73 onwards after Aloha were loads of brilliant gigs they could of recorded but no they left it until he wasn't very well bless him. He did a great version of U.M on that concert film, I know it wasn't the last like a lot of fans knew I didn't I always thought it was the last but this last final one was brilliant his vocals sounded a bit more powerful 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏there ya go my applause for all of these, he was the best ever !!no-one comes close or ever will He gave us his all ........
✌️✌️👍

I wish I could find the version where he brings the band in on the chorus. Anybody have that version?

The undubbed live version from Ann arbor is the best version ever
....there's one missing here...where in the middle of the song...he sings it fast..and..the orquresta joins in...thats the one I like...
where i can find every of this rare versions with good sound??
This song had been recorded by many artists before the Righteous Brothers' (Bobby Hatfield) version in 1965, so it's far from being the original as stated here. It was originally sung by Todd Duncan in the 1955 prison film 'Unchained', and was sung by several artists after that, and hundreds since.
