@@pedroribeiro6078 A lot less rehearsal than you might think. Elvis wants to stand up and use a guitar strap, but Scotty didn't even have one. If you think Elvis needed rehearsals to do this, then you're missing out on what Elvis was...a natural phenom. What he did here could not be done by any Beatle or Rolling Stone or Rod Stewart or well take your pick.

@@donjennings9034 You mean his natural talent, his creativity and spontaneity. But Elvis rehearsed most of the songs of the Comeback Special. Some songs from it are on CD. Also Elvis practice every day, mentally and vocally. He said that on an interview in 1972 for Aloha From Hawaii Concert 1973. Also all the hours of Las Vegas rehearsels every year. Plus Elvis sang every night after his Vegas shows with his backup singers. You can not say that he did not prepaire or rehearsel with his band and backup singers to keep his voice in shape. The entire band and backup singers were very good in balance with Elvis, because of all the hours and hours of rehearsels, but despite it, they all had to watch Elvis exactly what he will do next with his spontaneity. You can see it on the many live videos on youtube.
Imagine how many views this would have if KZread had been around since 68.

If it had been I'd have spent every waking moment watching Elvis on it! The first thing I did every week was scan the TV Guide to see if an Elvis movie was on, there were only 2-3 a year aired, and 2-3 new ones at the theater or drive-in. Seeing that one was coming was better than Santa to me! I didn't know then that Col. Tom didn't allow him to do talk shows so I would sit through all of them hoping he would be a guest. Every year I watched the entire Jerry Lewis Telethon hoping for a glimpse, the closest thing that happened was once Jerry announced a $5000 contribution from Elvis, hearing that kept me watching & hoping. I was fortunate enough to finally see him live 4 times in concert and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything in the world.

Nobody on this Earth can ever Sing as good as ELVI S
The first unplugged concert. Elvis felt comfortable and inspired jamming with his original band members. You can actually see the spirit move and release out of Elvis. It was also one of Vernon Presley's favourite songs. This is otherworldly, raw and regal.

😏.......never say never
I first saw this when I was about 16. I'd always liked 50s Elvis, but was hesitant about his later works. This clip changed everything. I swear I sobbed when he broke into that first bridge. His energy just tears me apart. He's tender, yet commanding; mature and a seasoned performer, yet echoes of his 19-year-old self come through. He had everything in a way that nobody will again.
I read that Scotty and DJ hadn’t seen EP for a long time prior to this concert and only came back to do this just for him. Tom Parker had cut them out of EPs life before this and also after , don’t think they had any contact with him from this iconic moment up to his untimely death. Is obvious to see how happy he was to be back with his original true friends
In his prime, Elvis had more charisma and talent than anyone before or after.

Jacko could sing falsetto, and was a great dancer, though he copied from Brown, Fred Astaire, robotic moves from Shields and Yarnell. I’m 60 years old and I’m from Switzerland (Lucerne), I’ve been listening to Elvis since I was 10 years old, I watched Elvis' live concert in Hawaii in 1973. I appreciate many kinds of good music, I also know all the songs of Johnny Cash and June Carter (Great) and other great artists. However, Elvis remains the greatest musician and entertainer of all time, but in all his songs, all the power of his soul comes out. One could also say that he gave his whole heart to his listeners. This way is definitely unique and I think it will remain so. Denis Herger

Check Billboard book of music records, Elvis is still at no.1 with about 8,000 points and he’s been gone for 45 years. The only performers that are close is the Beatles at 2nd place with 4500 points. And they split up 52 years ago.

@@aaronbravo2722 Yup, Scotty was absolutely a talented guitarist and was cool in his own way. Most important, he supported and complimented Elvis while also having his back and that made Elvis feel much more confident and secure. Whenever Elvis looks over at Scotty and says, “one more time” or performing Heartbreak Hotel and Elvis tells Scotty “you got it!, you got it!...well you had it” is so awesome! They were friends and they had great chemistry together.
Right here this guy sings better and is more entertaining than most "artists" of today with their elaborate stage productions and Auto-Tuned vocals. And he does it while sitting in a chair.

Amazing! Everyone and everything around him looks so vintage compared to him. He looks like a time traveler from our time stucked in the 60's. So modern, out of the time for that age, simply timeless...

On the contrary, it was Elvis who was vintage in 68. Beatles and Stones was already over their top, English bands like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin about to take off, and of course Laurel Canyon. With this show, Elvis for the last time did not reinvent himself. If he at all could.

That’s because by the time he died he WAS actually a caricature of himself. But if you were alive back in1954/1955 (before he was even famous) and you were lucky enough to see a 19-year kid known back then as “The Hillbilly Cat” go on stage and start ripping into black Rhythm & Blues and crawling all over the stage floor you would finally know what he was truly all about and why he is called “The King”.
When Elvis sang, you could tell he sang TO each person. That’s an impressive thing by itself and a rare gift among performers. But he went further and sang FOR us. He reached down into the place where human beings FEEL, pulled those feelings up out of us, and sang to the rooftops what was inside. Simply put, when Elvis sings the blues, he sings mine away.

He is really knocked it out of the park at that 68 comeback Had it all man
This never gets old. Beethoven and Mozart are still played to this day - Elvis will be around for a long , long time to come as well.
He was himself in this comeback. Real Elvis. Amazing.
My 9 year old son and I have bonded over Elvis.
Wow. What else is there to say? There is not another human that even comes close to this guy. Not Even 50%! He did his thing so pure, from deepest part of the soul and he oozed it for all to see. You can see him open his eyes, after a deep verse(which is often) and his eyes almost look lost in space for a fraction of a second.. wish I could have met him!
This is one song that Elvis nailed consistently throughout his career. He spun what was a ballad into a steamy bluesy masterpiece. In fact, it's fun to hear all of the Elvis performances of Trying to Get to You from his first RCA album to his later live performances and see how his craft evolved.

One of my best experiences is when I played Elvis for some young teenagers and they walked away playing more of him on their own ❤
When he was on his game no one could touch him. When he not on his game no one could touch him either.
Magnetic. This was a glimpse of what took the world by storm in 1956: The power, emotion, passion and sincerity. A brilliant move by director Steve Binder to notice the raw energy of Elvis' backstage jam sessions and capture some/most of it on camera.
I can wrap my head around the fact that he died 9 years later that crazy
No words could do this justice....but just to call attention to one small part of this performance...the passion from seconds 53 to about 1:04 is genuine and a searing example of the feeling that he brought to his songs, but at 1:05 that playful smile shows he could turn it on at will. We the audience were always in the palm of his hand, just a toy for this performer.
I can’t stop watching this, it’s amazing, blows my mind, his talent, his reactions, the sultry way he looks - oh my😍… & it’s all simply pure, raw, straight from the hip Elvis! I loved him as a very small child, but this new movie has reawakened my love for him & I’m so glad - wonderful man, a true gift from God. I can’t find the words to fully describe it. Even my 21 year old son, who accompanied me to the cinema, finds himself captivated when I show him these videos - & he’s straight, yet can fully appreciate Elvis’ aura, attraction, whatever it was.
