“The girl next door” was one of the best songs on that album which is saying a lot, that album was full of great songs👍🍻

In the early years of Elvis I collected a number of his 45s. In 1970 I took them to my girlfriend's house to listen to them. That night when I go home I forgot to take them into the house and the heat from the sun made them unplayable. I was sick. I can only bet that they were pressed at Plastic Products in Memphis. Great video with a truck load of history. The song "Tragedy" was recorded by "The Fleetwoods" later and that is the version that I have always heard. Thanks Spa Guy! (Now I am going to search from one of your videos on the American studio. I hope you did one.)

Another fantastic video about Mr. Scotty Moore, the record recording and Elvis trivia Mr. Spa Guy. Thank you. I have the "Elvis Is Back" album. I believe it is one of Elvis best albums. Sad it didn't sale better.

This made me think of a story told to me by an elderly gentleman here in Central Illinois . He said our Canton Automotive received a phone call from Elvis and he needed a tow truck to help get a vehicle pulling a trailer out of a ditch on Rt 9. According to this man, Elvis told them they had to be very careful as the trailer held blank record discs coming from Chicago. I had always.wondered if this could be true. Thanks for some great history, Spa Guy!

Mr. Spa . . I worked just up the street at chelsea and mclain for 3 years in 1985 . . 30 years after the pressing business , i remember driving by these quanset huts many times 😊

This really take's me back to my portable record player, it would hold 45s and 73s, you could stack the record's so your music continued to play. I had all of Elvis's gospel album's and listened almost daily when I was a teenager. Elvis kept me home and out of trouble, I would rather spend time listening to Elvis.

oh gosh...no.... thank you for sharing all of this great information . I love it . I love to hear about all of these stories . I'm glad that all of the people that really knew Elvis shares their stories too . The good , bad , funny , and the sad parts about his life . That way people like me that didn't know him personally can share them with my family generations to come. Even my little granddaughter that's 4 year old loves Elvis Presley . She told me the other day she said , Granny... I like Elvis . I said , you do . She said , yeah I watched him on KZread and he's handsome Granny . LOL....!!!

Hi Spa Guy....I love your videos and I also love your respect and love for anything Elvis....I have been a huge Elvis fan all my life. I am planning a visit to Memphis this coming January...I was there in 1987 at the age of 21 and it was really great....I am a guitar player/singer who has played in pubs and bars as a sideline ..Also did singing Elvis telegrams.......the strangest thing about that is, when I play an Elvis number people love it and they ask me "what was that song you did that goes bla bla bla"?....and I say...."oh , that was one night by Elvis or Tryin' to get to you" (or whatever other song it may have been)...they look at me like I am from another planet, but they say ..."Geez ...that was cool"...That's when I say...."get on youtube and look up Elvis!!!!! Once you know him...it's impossible to Unknow him!!!!! anyway...would love to meet you.

You answered your own question as to whether Plastic products pressed 78's as well as 45's? The answer is YES, The Phillips 78 and receipt show they did. Great content as i'm finding out going through your posts.

Another interesting video.On Friday's I travel old highway 78 which is one of routes Elvis would take back in the 50's while touring.I pass old houses and think to myself,that Elvis had passed this very house back In the day.Another part of 78 runs through Leeds Alabama where Elvis stopped and had lunch one day back in the mid 50's.The reason I tell this,is like you,even concrete Elvis walked on is interesting to me.i was raised in Leeds and you can find the story and A pick of him at the restaurant back In the day.Powels Cafe I believe was the name of the Cafe.He was with friends I didn't recognize in the pic

On the Joe Hill Louis single, I noticed the co-writer of both sides was a *Phillips* ... It would appear that Sam, as was the custom back in those days, slapped himself on as co-writer, even though it was strictly a Louis composition. In fact, on "Boogie In The Park", Joe played guitar and drums on the recording *at the same time.*

Today would of been Elvis' 83 birthday...January 8, 2018.

Do you know if Elvis ever got to meet John Wayne and the story surrounding it? Were any photos taken or if Elvis even collected photos and autographs of his favorite stars? That might be a question to ask an "insider" sometime.

As always thanks for the awesome info!!! It is weird to see Scotty with a Tele. I know he had one that he played on in the Navy. I wonder why he played it than his Gibson? I would assume he still had his Gibson Super 400 at that time.

Yes that is Scotties 1953 Telecaster.. It may have been more conducive to the sound for Thomas Wayne.. At that time he would have had the ES295 and a Super 400 too and more..

Spa Guy Well Correct me if I am wrong but, I thought Scotty traded in his Tele for the Es-295. The he traded in his Es-295 for the Gibson L5 and had to put more money down as well. Then he traded in that for his first Super 400. If I remember right I read this in Scotty's book and is on his website.

Very possible I have never studied it.. I know in the early days Scotty didn't value any particular guitar so he never really kept any particular one.. If thats what the book said I imagine it would be true.. I know I never saw a Es295 or a Tele in his collection.. The only guitar he seemed to value was the Gibson Prototype that Chet gave him for some old pics.. He thought so much of it he has a copy of it made so he would not have to play it out..

Spa Guy Yeah, I remember him getting the Chet Atkins one from Gibson as well. From what I have read, the way I worded it above is what happened. Except, he kept the L5 till later he sold it. He obtained the Super 400 from Gibson for free through sponsorship. From I read too is he had a 52 Fender Esquire Tele. Maybe he borrowed it. Who knows. We can't always have the answers sadly. Haha. Keep up the awesome work. I get to live through your videos by seeing the actual historical places where the history took place. I wish I could see it in person. But, sadly not living Tennessee and living about 9 hrs away it is hard to not be able to see those places. I learn much from your videos as well. I enjoy them very much. Thanks again!

Spa Guy I would buy an album if you had one. I dig it man. Well recorded as well. It’s like a Funk Disco Jazz vibe. You should check out a band called JungleFire or 00Soul. Or Medeski Martin and wood an album they did with John Schofield called Combustication. You will dig it.

They are used for a Estate Sale business.. They bring the stuff there to price it and get it ready to sell..

Billy that guy on here was talking about records melting. Were these buildings air conditioned? If not how dud they keep them from getting too hot and ruining the records.
