The little girl had cancer and her wish was to to meet Elvis. Her name is Denise. When Elvis found out about her he told them to bring her back to meet him. He played her a song and dedicated it to her. That s Elvis. He supported over 50 charities in Memphis alone and many of them were for children who had cancer. Denise is in Heaven with Elvis now. I hope he is singing to her all the time now. God Bless Them Both.

A reporter said he ask a topman at RCA about ELVIS and why was he still the king of rock n roll and why so many people never met him but loved the man, The man answered back and said because he was a caring person he never forgets where he came from and Elvis said he asked GOD, why me? The world lost a great entertainer when he passed away and Tennessee lost their favorite son and a little girl lost her dad.

After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’” If you disagree with the comment the black newspaper wrote, I strongly suggest you discuss it with the black newspaper that wrote it. that is if you have the guts!

@@PhxAzGuy Many Elvis fans will know the story of Denise Sanchez, the 8-year-old fan from Santa Fe who we saw in an outtake from 'Elvis On Tour'. Denise had been battling cancer since the age of 6 and, like her mom was a huge Elvis fan. Denise had already lost a leg and part of a hip to cancer, and doctors could do no more to help after it had spread to her lungs. With the help of the local paper, her mom Trudi was able to get tickets for that concert in Albuquerque on April 19, 1972, and an opportunity to meet Elvis backstage before the show. The meeting was to give her one last happy memory and at the show that night, Elvis sang 'Love Me Tender' -- her request -- and then dedicated 'You Gave Me A Mountain' to her. Photographers and MGM 'On Tour' cameras were there to capture a deeply special moment. (The film is available unofficially, it was not used in the movie). Denise would lose her fight barely four months later, but it has recently been uncovered that she did have another bright moment before saying goodbye: she was able to attend another Elvis concert. Now fuck off.

I grew up dirt poor in Mississippi, in a very musical family. I remember my Daddy (just a little younger then Elvis) playing music on weekends on Graigs Spring road & Hwy 25. Old black logger truck drivers would park and play with Daddy and others. I remember how Daddy lit up when they walked up. And they could make a guitar talk. I ask one of them once "Are you playing that in G?" He replied " I don't know nothin about no G, I just tell this guitar what to do and how I feel." Daddy said "And it minds real well" lol....I never forgot that. Elvis making it to such heights, was one of us making it. Elvis loved being Elvis, like a poor boy should. And at the same time never looked down on people. And never became put off by others wanting to meet him or overbearing fans. How do you ever get mad at people for loving you? You don't. I so much wish Lisa Marie and his Grandchildren to find happiness. Sadly I feel they will never feel the closeness of what made Elvis tick, like I do. But I do know this, he would want them to find joy in who they are. A foundation of humility, always stills the water of fleeting glory of any day. Tomorrow is another day, another song, and can only be approached by tapping into what is deep in the soul that is vulnerable yet intact. No matter what it is you do. The good lord saved Elvis twice, when he was born and when he was 6 years old and almost died. He had purpose to bring joy to many. Gods hand was on Elvis. He did not take Elvis from the world. He allowed it. Because God is knowing of all things.

Great story! Yet Elvis did get burnt out on the overbearing fans. He said himself that he was a miserable sob because he had no life like others did. Why did he not? Because his fans wouldn't let him!!! He did live his fans, every single one of them. I'll never understand why the couldn't just give him a little bit back? Yes, some did but there were way to many that did not! Making his life at times very miserable. He could not get out during daylight hours at all!!! Fans trying to rip his cloths off of him just to get a piece of his clothing, passing out, many wetting their pants just for being in his presence ect.. . Maybe if you think about it those were not fans at all! People like that have an obsession. That helped in many ways with the downfall of Elvis Presley! He gave so much of himself to all of his fans no matter their stature! Was it to much to ask of them to let him breath, let him have a family memory, left him have any kind of private life? Because they did not give him that at all!!! He couldn't even go watch a movie, take his daughter skating, take his wife out to dinner. He had to rent out that whole darn theater at 3 o'clock in the morning to even watch a show! Rent out the skating rink to take his family and closest of friends skating!!! You can't give but so much of yourself to others before it takes a toll psychologically!! But Elis gave his whole self 100% because he did appreciate his fans but what did they give him in return??? So sad to know today that he had to feel so miserable because he was smothered to death!!! He said so himself!!! He also told many people he was not a king, he was only a human man!! But yet many of his fans looked to him as if he was a god!!! He did NOT like that part and stated as much!!!

@@tonyaperry4763 You''re very right about Elvis' problems with his fans and if he decided he was tired of it all and faked his death, that surely would have been part of it. I've been a fan of a lot of singers for decades now and have had the opportunity to see how fans behave. A lot of Elvis fans have a sense of entitlement like nothing I've ever seen before. If you call them on it, they just the make the statement that Elvis thought of his fans as family and he wouldn't mind, but that's taking advantage of his kindness in a big, mean way. Speaking of that, I have also heard he had become very disappointed in his family over the years too, for the same reason, taking advantage of his generous nature. Especially the ones living on his property, they were alway's knocking on his door wanting some extra money for this or that. I've heard Billy Smith was one of the worst for that and Elvis wanted him gone for that reason, but didn't have the heart to ask him to leave. I heard Billy and his family ended up there in the first place, because they were homeless and Elvis was forced to take them in or his whole family would have been angry with him. I've had friends of Elvis tell me that he was tired of answering to all of them, but didn't know how to get them off the property, just like he didn't know how to get rid of the Mafia. Between the overbearing fans, his overbearing family, and the Mafia, he was feeling trapped in a big way. In his case, it seemed like even his money wasn't helping him, it was just keeping some of these people stuck to him like glue and they were helping him use it up to the point where he was starting to have financial problems too, in spite of feeling tired and overworked. I run into these overbearing fans on KZread all the time and they are always so sure they know everything possible thing there is to know about the man, including the intimate details of his marriage, They are pretty much all Priscilla haters, too, never could accept the woman he loved till the end of his life, because it's all about them and their feelings. I also think about the walls and gates to his property at Graceland and in LA. So many fans have thought nothing of defacing his property. What is their reason for signing their name and writing messages? Do they think Elvis is too stupid to know he has fans visiting? It seems to me it is all about them really, they need to be noticed and acknowledged by Elvis in some way, or to leave their mark and say they've been there. They managed to make the pilgrimage and want some proof of it. Who cares if they have to deface his property to do it, that's the attitude. They're lucky Graceland has tolerated it all these years, they could be prosecuted for it. They were literally costing him money every time he had to have the thing sandblasted. That makes it seem all the more silly, if their mark is just going to be erased. Some of these fans have become so obsessed with themselves it's not enough to just leave their name, they're leaving mini art projects on the wall now. I'm sorry if this post offends any of you who have left your name on the wall, but all I'm saying is stop and think about it. This is how some of us see it. Some of the fans have also complained about having to pay to attend the Candlelight Vigil in the past, but can anyone imagine what it costs them to put that thing on? They are lucky that Priscilla and Lisa Marie are even willing to accept the risk of fire, and fortunate that City fire laws will even allow it. It's probably only because of the tourists dollars that it brings into Memphis that they are allowed to get away with it. Between all the visitors they have on the property on a daily basis for the tours and events, and the risk of fire with the Vigils, they must pay a small fortune on the place for just for insurance.

Elvis was not only a really great singer, he was also a really good comedian. Many people didn't know that about him until he was gone. He will ALWAYS be my favorite person, EVER! It's nice to not see negative comments here, at least I didn't see any, but I haven't been all the way down the list. Too many people say such negative things about someone they didn't even know, and they still have stupid things coming out of their mouths. To those people, I'd like to say, "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all". That's how I was raised. Most of those people have nothing to say positive about anyone, except themselves, and everyone who knows these guys, probably can't think of anything nice to say about them either.

Tragic that Elvis died so young, unhappy, unhealthy and basically alone ! I think Priscilla loved the image and fame of Elvis and still does. Know one would know who she even is without Elvis. A shame Elvis never got over his mother's death or could deal with it. He was a Momma's boy and spoiled. He had other wired quirks too. Plus his temper and womanizing. All of it together made a impossible relationship to function let alone thrive. He had that marvelous God given voice right to the very end. Miss him, his music and what might of been with his music. Hopefully he is t peace now.

For me at only 62 and having always heard about Elvis from my Seniors to watch these footages and hear the voice, listen to the lyrics, feel the passion in the sound, I now know why they always ( and still today) refer to Elvis as the "KING". They can imitate till the cows stop coming home to milk, but there will never be another Elvis. Long live the King. I listen and watch him towards the end, the songs, the lyrics the passion I personally see great sadness, I see hurt, I see pain. I wonder what it was in the finish that made such a great performer turn that final corner, I wonder if He ever ever did get over his first and greatest love? I see a man that had truelly great passion the similar passion to someone with ADHD, the King had that type of passion therefore He loved with that kind of passion, passion from the gut that rises through Your whole body. I try to make sense of what the hell happened that cut short the opportunity for the next generation to first hand witness such a magical passionate performer, 2nd to no one!

Priscilla has gone through so much and I love her for loving Elvis the way she did. I don’t know if any other woman could have had her strength, or her love, the way she did for Elvis.
