Young adults and teenagers of the "Silent Generation", born during the Great Depression and World War II years, rebelled against their parents' conservative generation to make their own generation's Elvis the most popular cultural icon of the fifties. Heartfelt thanks to them, grandmas and grandpas today, from a fan born much later.

@@thecensoredmuscle563 Boomers were born from 1946 (post WW2) until 1964. So the oldest boomers, who were born in 1946, would be 13 years old only in 1959, when EP was already in the army and had already given his final stage performance of the fifties on November 11, 1957. Elvis entered the US Army on March 24, 1958. So IMHO, the Boomers were too late for '50s Elvis, but just right for the '60s Beatles. I would say the Boomers made the Beatles famous. Young Elvis belongs to his brilliant 'Silent' fans.

I mean considering he is the most covered and copied artist of all time it only makes sense and he has sold more albums than michael jackson amd the Beatles combined... also speaking of michael jackson you can see how influenced michael jackson was by elvis and how much he always looked up to him amd copied him (or tried to) of you put elvis in concert next to michael jackson in concert you will see the same "highwater pants" with the same white socks and Michaels key dance move was standing on his toes and dancing like elvis did all the time some instances of him doing it are the song "hound dog" and "jailhouse rock" also elvis was given the title "the king" by tje entire world and in an attempt to mimic even that michael gave himself the title "the king of pop" (yes he gave himself the title and everyone just started calling him it because he preffered it is why once he died people started calling other artists the "king of pop" but no one else has tried the take the title of "the king" and they have never been offered it either which should say a lot)

As a newish fan (but I’ve done my research) i can see why the girls back then went crazy for him. After listening to a couple of his songs he quickly became my favourite artist, I would have loved to see him live, that would’ve been a dream come true. I would definitely be like those girls, screaming at his presence :) Rest In Peace, King 🫶🏻🤘🏻

Think about it. Elvis Presley was what Justin Bieber became back in the 2010s. He walked so the likes of The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys and so many other great bands and singers could run and later fly. There's a reason he's considered one of the all-time greats and the reactions he drew from women is just the tip of the iceberg.

None of those guys were close to Elvis level with chick's. Especially since this was a time where people were used to stiff musicians, playing slower songs. Then this young attractive guy with a great voice and dance moves comes up, and girls went crazy on a level that has never been seen again. Beatles and Jackson had alot of guys help their success, Elvis is the #1 selling solo artist, and did it off the backs of women.

i'm thinking it's mostly disbelief when seeing in person someone who's so famous and who they are also so into, maybe it was not so easy to get to see him live. And also being part of a mass, it gets sort of contagious, you just lose control when everybody does.. It also helps that he's so charismatic and a bit lascivious in his dance moves, good dancer anyway, and a skilled voice that is powerful and velvety. It's music, great hits you know by heart, dancing, loose atmosphere, attraction, and mass hysteria :)

Elvis achieved his Mania status by his undoubted good looks and his manufactured itinerary, while the Beatles achieved their Mania by writing and performing their own ‘never to be forgotten’ songs, and at the same time speaking their minds for good or ill.

i thought the movie exagerrated the sexual part of the attraction. Like all the girls saw was his pelvis and all they thought was just plain sex. But the attraction is more complex, it's also admiration for this talent, it's his entertainment, his charisma etc.

Back when singers had true talent. There was no auto tune or technology to assist you in singing. Nowadays, just having a mediocre singing voice can get you famous.

I just found two long Articles about Elvis' Early Days and how everyone REACTED to Elvis. Article; ELVIS-Sun 1955 (8) - 706 Union Avenue "pandemonium" broke out when Elvis took the Stage. Gladys and Vernon made it to Little Rock specifically to meet again with "parker" at Elvis' insistence. As extra incentive "parker" brought with him Whitney Ford, The Duke of Paducah. He was a favorite of "Gladys". THE PRESLEYS STILL DID NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH "parker"! ! ! THE PRESLEY SAID HE COULD BE A "special advisor", NOTHING ELSE! ! Shows Vernon and Gladys WAS NOT "stupid" about GREEDY "parker". ARTICLE; ELVIS-Sun 19 (9) - 706 Union Avenue. I'm "sorry" :) :) :) all the stuff about "poor" Webb Pierce. . .I can't help but LAUGH. . . . .just like the youtube videos done by Hank Snow's son, Jimmy Rodgers Snow. Elvis name on the ad bills. . . .LAUGHING. . .not one person had a "chance" before Elvis, Scotty and Bill came on AND WHY HANK SNOW PUT ELVIS ON LAST AND HE COULD ENTERTAIN AND PLAY WITH THE AUDIENCES AS LONG AS HE WANTED. The other artists on the Ad Bill went to motel, eat, headed for next Town. ALL the PEOPLE he met and were FRIENDS with. Many were in the Music Business until they passed. Many TRAGIC stories, Johnny Horton and Band members, vehicle collision less than 2 years of his big break :( David Huston, brain aneurysm at 57/58 years old and OTHERS. . . . . .long list. . . . . . .
