    Wow , amazing thank you so for your time and research. I actually hitch hiked from Montreal to Memphis back in 1991 , took me tree days to get there. All to visit Graceland. But was broke when I got there so I found a job , stayed 3 months and visited most of the Elvis places ...Humes high school , Sun studios and a lot more.

    I love Jack White! I became a fan over the collaboration with Loretta Lynn! That right there is enough to respect Jack! He was very humble and really used Loretta’s name while being introduced! He was the number one ☝️ guitarist at the time! He is so humble!

    You put in a great effort with this one. Elvis fans appreciate it! I went to Nashville and the Hall of Fame/Studio B in May 2015 and I did not see the acetate on display anywhere - maybe this was when Jack first had it? I do recall seeing Elvis' gold piano and limousine there. Studio B was just awesome, it gave me chills to be there. Hope Jack sees this video! Also, just a side - that small cafe in the lobby of the hall of fame has good burgers. :)

    Am discovering more KZread treasures! It was interesting to read that Elvis didn't actually make the record for his mom because they were too poor to have a record player! I did wonder about that myself when I read all the old stories about Elvis making that record - could he have afforded a record player in those days? I guess most people had radios, but record players might have been a luxury item back in the early 1950s.

    Hi spa Guy, Elvis started work at crown Electric on April 20th 1954, good investigative work bud and a miss conception many have....but he wasn't unemployed in fact he was working for M.B. Parker company, a temporary job where he was earning $36 per week. (reference Elvis day by day by Guralnick and Jorgensen) he worked there from July 1st until July 29 1953. In between working for M.B. Parker and Crown he worked at Precision Tool company as a sander and manufacturer of shelves, as well as an operator of a hand drill and drill press. This lasted from September through till march ' 54. Keep up the good work ! As always TCB

  • @SpaGuy

    Craig, You are on it.. I believe as you do that he worked for MB Parker temporarily for the month of July.. Although he went to Memphis Recording Service on Saturday July the 18th and technically he was not employed on that day.. lol.. My point in this video was he was not working for Crown as it has always been told.. He did not start with Crown until April 20th 1954 which was about 9 months after the infamous first recording day.. The story has always been a lowly truck driver stopped into Sun and recorded a song and boom Elvis was born and I am trying to illustrate that this is simply not true.. I appreciate your knowledge and input.. Tighten Up, Spa Guy

  • @memphismaverick100

    @memphismaverick100

    Hey I personally think Spa Guy that this was not the first time he went into sun, there is a story as told by Johnny Bragg of the prisonaires that Elvis was in there the day they recorded walking in the rain July 1st '53..Bragg recalls that Elvis helped him with his diction. And the start of a friendship that lasted many years, Elvis even visiting him in prison years later. It throws up another mystery a strange thing to make up. Though Sam Phillips never mentioned this. I also posed this question to Peter Guralnick he believed it didn't happen, I sure do believe it. Just as a footnote the picture you included with Elvis outside sun studios has been photoshopped he was actually standing outside the parking lot at Lamar Airways Shopping center - September 9, 1954..damn those photoshoppers, easy mistake to make bud TCB

    I am interested in vintage media and I have never seen an acetate record, I would like to see one someday if I can’t see an original then maybe I can see a replica of one. I wouldn’t want to touch the original because I don’t want to ruin anything historical, so if they had a replica of an acetate then I can see one. The only way I can see one is to touch it, and that can be difficult at times when it comes to history.

    Hello Mr SpaGuy, I’m a new subscriber to your awesome Elvis Trivia Channel or as you say “Piece Of The Puzzle.” Did you ever see the first recording? I am a 61 year old Elvis fan and visited Graceland when they only allowed 25 at a time to walk up and around Meditation Gardens at Graceland. No charge. Just get in line and wait. Nothing was across the road when this started - allowing folks to see his grave site after his death. I actually saw Charlie Hodge standing in the circular driveway as folks walked up very respectfully and lay their flowers at the foot of Elvis huge grave marker. There was no fence to keep folks back from sitting their gifts of flowers down. Graceland was not open for public tours yet. I would be curious if you could look into the actual time line where folks could get in line on the sidewalk in front of Graceland to walk thru the beautiful gates. There were only men standing at the gate and counting a group of 25 out at a time. No one even escorted us. My husband and 2 friends just calmly walked up the driveway following others to walk slowly around the area. That’s all you saw though. I did take pictures and I am trying very hard to find them to give to you. Thank you for your Godly personality. God Bless from Southeast Missouri. “The Bootheel”

    Very good informations. Until today, the story runs that Elvis was working as a truck driver and stopped one day to make a record for his mother. There is even an inteview where Elvis himself says:"I was drivin' a truck, I was working for an electrian company..".So maybe he contributed himself to establish this myth. As you do, I always like to know the real story. Very good work from you! Congratulations.

    @@SpaGuy Thank you Spa Guy. I'm going to find out that story I hope soon! People who know something are getting older or have passed. I'm thinking the way people remember stuff, they are getting those two recording sessions mixed up! Elvis said he recorded record for his mothers birthday. Maybe it was this one! I think it's fascinating! Set the story straight. God speed Spa Guy!

    This is not speculation it did happen the only thing that is not correct I figured out later is that Ed did not go with him to Memphis Recording Elvis went alone and brought the record to his house listen to it and left it and all else is true and accurate..

    Is it true that the label on the acetate is a Prisonaires label turned upside down?

    David, I know what you mean because when I first heard Spa Guy voice, I picture him as being a school teacher by the tone of his voice. He's a good video person who needs to be on TV.

    Hello I remember you saying elvis buying records in a record shop so he had to have a record player so here is something wrong

  • @SpaGuy

    He was buying records later on in his life after he got money.. He def went to Poplar Tunes when he was young but that doesn't mean he bought records at that time.. When this record was made they did not have a record player in the house and that is why he left the record at this guys house.. I was not there so I don't know when he had one and when he didn't but I do know this record never made it to Gladys.. It was a different time back then people were trying to eat so they didn't have money for records and players.. Also you don't have to have a player to own records.. I have tons of records right now and nothing to play them on..
