MY HERO!!!! I've said the same and have never heard anybody else share the same thought!!!!
Elvis seems so much more comfortable with himself on stage than when he burst on the music scene in the last 70's.
To hear him play these songs in a small club would slay me.

Pure brilliance. I was obsessed with his first five or six albums in my late teens and early twenties, and it's great to hear this different version of him. I love both the originals and these live versions. He's a genius!
I genuinely love Elvis Costello & his music, and I feel honored that my mom named me after his song Veronica 🥲🤍 Every time i hear it, i try to picture her life in ‘95, listening to his album Spike, and then deciding to name me after one his songs.
Just found this.....holy fuck its great
Elvis my poet - of my life's mind... I love EC
Such an under-appreciated artist

Me, myself, and I + 10’s of millions (gotta be, right?) of fans of his, Very Much Appreciate this unusually gifted, clever wordsmith....and he puts all of ‘that’ to great music, besides! That’s leaps and bounds above what any prolific poet or writer of anything has ever done! That’s mind blowing; and How did he get to be so Damn Good? I made my bed AND dinner and called it a special day because I did more than I could-do yesterday. Weird how it goes....but people like me NEED musicians like EC, and other favorites. In fact, it was Elvis’s songs that I used as my joy while I cooked. God Bless Elvis! And I thank you, Mr. Costello, for all of the songs you’ve done that have connected so many ‘dots’ along my journey of life. The friends I’ve shared your music with - some of those relationships were deeply, permanently, and profusely changed by your artistry! All for the good, of course! As a teen, I can remember hearing your early stuff with my best friend....it was love at first-listen, and it only grew. That’s pretty heavy! We could feel the transformation happening to us; we’re just about to go off to college, and then ‘real adult life’ would follow. You made Everything Better when we needed you. Thank You!!!
He is in excellent form here. Beautiful.
I have seen him perform life six or seven times (easily the best "moment" was at The Tabernacle in Atlanta where he did "I Want You" just with him and his guitar) - but they were all brilliant (even him and Allen Touissaint) - but this crushes all of them.
He's timeles with his music which I always think is so different met him in person whilst doing his security in London at Tower Records .....was surreal
Great Elvis. Great.
thanks for posting this! I was there, waiting to see my young self. I was so excited to see Elvis, and Mike Ness the most. great time either way, and what a great show Elvis put on.

you real?
Pure and simple, genius!
If they had Elvis Costello as the finale instead of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers the ending to Woodstock 99 would have been a lot less sexual assault and destruction. What’s so funny about peace, love and understanding? Elvis is truly an exceptional artist. Listener since March of 1978.
El "otro Elvis", grande Costello!!!!...amo tu música.
Elvis wowed em again!!!
Proof that you dont have to resort to stupid overused cliches in lyrics. An interesting story in just about every song he wrote.

Elvis Costello es uno de los mejores compositores pop de la historia, pero muy poca gente se dio cuenta en ese concierto. El público de Woodstock no estuvo a la altura.
He was phenomenal.
I do Love Elvis Costello!! Even singing a Burt Bacharach song...
Thanks for this! I saw him do this set live and it is as brilliant as I remember it!

I love you Elvis, I really do.
Gee this is good
Elvis is the best lyricist, next to Bob Dylan and It's my belief Bruce Springsteen(Americana) ... Elvis Costello (British Hero of Music) will be looked back in history as one of the very best! Let's not forget the rest of the Brits Invasion of Music...Which was Americana re-regurgitated

Can this possibly be the same event and venue that has been featured in two recent documentaries about an ultra-violent, dangerous, Woodstock '99 filled with disaffected attendees? I mean, look at this! I think this EC performance shows that you *can* put on a successful ultra-large festival if your talent is of *this* caliber, sends a more positive message to the crowd, elicits the right kind of energy, and the audience wants to chill out long enough to hear what you're singing. I'm an EC fan, so I may be prejudiced. And I'm not naive about the other problems that plagued the event as a whole --- but watching this, compared to the documentaries of Woodstock '99, is jaw-dropping. And Elvis going onstage with just his guitar and pianist Steve Naive was a bold move for a big crowd. But it looks like it worked.

I think this was early on in the festival before everything went to shit. Bruce Hornsby also had a pretty cool set here.

Saw him at Woodstock.
surprised, for this crowd, no "oliver's army".
So this is the concert with at least documentaries talking about how bad the audience was and how it was a bunch of "hateful young white males", eh?.....I'm seeing a very respectful audience here to Elvis, applauding and singing along, of all ages.

The meatheads didn’t come out of the woodwork until later on in the day. They’re out in full force during Alanis Morrissette’s set yelling for Limp Bizkit to come out.
How bold and brave was it of him to take a stage this size with just a guitar and a piano player? Fucking James Brown and P-Funk had about 30 people on stage and didn't sound half as good
this crowd was badly wanting a dance set & rockin band. Great show - for a coffeehouse

I think after all the rowdy bands at that festival, they needed someone to chill out the crowd.
No one knew the words! Respectful though!
Most of the american folk seem to be looking on in puzzlement proberly wondering who the hell is this guy.
The crowd doesn't seem too into this.
Acoustic set for a crowd that big? No way. And Elvis's lyrics are impossible to understand in such a large crowd, so what's the point?
Those losers at Woodstock 99 were more interested in setting shit on fire than the king, Elvis
No Oliver's Army? I would have been so pissed off I would have broke stuff and then set it on fire.
