ELUVEITIE - A Rose For Epona
Музыка
"A Rose For Epona" is a brand new track off our upcoming album "Helvetios"! Out in Europe on February 10 / US & rest of the world on February 28, 2012
Catch the band on tour: on. elutour
Commented mainman Chrigel Glanzmann:
"The song "A Rose For Epona" appears about in the middle of the storyline - so, it tells about the time when the gaulish war broke out already. The Helvetians decided to leave their homeland and migrate to the west coast of Gallia, to start a new life there.
In the time the song tells about, many Helvetians had to face pretty much shattered hopes. And so does the protagonist, from whose viewpoint the song is written: A young gaulish woman. She was part of the helvetic migration, but after the battle of Bibracte, all hopes that she and her people would ever reach their new home were torn to pieces.
Furthermore you can imagine: She probably had lost her husband on the battlefields of Bibracte and she had to face fact that she can be glad if their common newborn child would not be killed and she herself would be sold into roman slavery.
To sum it up: Her situation was desperate. In this situation "our" young gaulish woman despairs, can't accept her fate and turns to her goddess Epona... and accuses her for having forsaken her people. This is what the song expresses.
On a historical note: "Epona" was a gaulish goddess which was, among other things, in charge of taking care of horsemen and the cavallery. All over Gallia there were Epona temples where people traditionally offered up freshly cut roses or rose petals to their goddess."

Yes, they did.
Is it possible to hear a song in two days over and over again without getting bored? I'd say: YES IT IS ! ! !
When I hear this song, It actually carries that emotion to it that makes me want to cry. Not a lot of songs that do that
First time I've heard this band & song and I can't stop replaying it over and over.

I don't know if I should feel this, but I'm proud of Eluveitie. They've developed their style almost to perfection. I love it. This song is a masterpiece goddammit!!!
Do you feel the thorns? Do you see the tears? Do you see the blood shed in this fell war? Have you forsaken us? Have you forgotten our faithful men calling your name? While I stand before you While we perish While I lay down a crimson rose While holding hands Are forced apart While hopes bog like condemned men Were you there? The sky is falling on me As your hand's turning old and weak I'm giving myself up to thee A futile sacrifice gone sere In your nemeton These grey stone walls Are cold and silent As the fallen Mother gone deaf Mistress of shattered hopes And forever broken dreams Were you there? The sky is falling on me As your hand's turning old and weak I'm giving myself up to thee A futile sacrifice gone sere Epo, epo why hast thou forsaken me? Together we go unsung Into thy hand I commend my spirit Together we go down with our people Were you there? Were you there? The sky is falling on me As your hand's turning old and weak I'm giving myself up to thee A futile sacrifice gone sere Falling on me...

incredible vocal and amazing band. this is going of be one of my list of favorite band.
I love this song!!! This voice ... unbelievable!!! Great!!! Awesooooome!!!
Neta q hay veces q siento ENLOQUECER entre escalofrios que recorren mi espalda cuando escucho las melodias suaves de esta banda. ABSOLUTAMENTE GEANIALES, HIPNOTIZANTES!!!
I don't understand why people are complaining, Eluveitie is known for playing slower, they aren't just metal, they play acoustic as well and it's natural for them I imagine to do different stuff and keep the traditional folk stuff in their music like this song here, they haven't sold out, they've grown, they are still a very new band actually and have come out with quite a few albums in such a short time, each one is a masterpiece..
2021 y jamás superare esta obra de ARTE!!!!

I love Eluveite for this song - everytimes, they manage it, to write for a beautiful song also wonderful lyrics with a realistic background. I love it.
I will never understand why people will listen to garbage like Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber over this, that shit takes no talent. Anna has an amazing and powerful voice and Eluveitie has makes music that actually has meaning to it.

En un mot: génial
I was at the Eluveitie and friends concert in Switzerland... When they played this song, my friend and I just stood there, singing along and nearly crying. That's just amazing!
The lyrics of this song send a shiver down to my spine...... so epic.......My love to Eluveitie from Greece!
Anna's voice is just so special! I'd love to have another one of her scream (see Quoth the Raven) in the upcoming album!

***** Hey, Are you sure?
Amazing!!! The catchiest song I've ever heard from Eluveitie!
I remember my first concert... this band came on, they started playing Rose For Epona, everyone was moshing during the first verse... her voice during the chorus was so powerful, even the most brutal of all metal heads stopped moshing, and of course I had to rush home to change my pants after the concert. \m/

Someone told me this song was about link's horse from Loz... and it didn't make sense to me. Thank you, youtube comments, for teaching me that Epona was a Gaulish goddess of horses (and other domesticated animals?).

Quite possibly my favorite Eluveitie song already!
I literally cried once I understood everything. Amazingly Beautiful, there's nothing more you can say. The whole historic quality and beauty of vocals mix perfectly in this sublime song. 3
There is no form of plagiarism in any of there songs if any of you have ever read their stuff or listened to there descriptions of the music they use a lot of Celtic music that is centuries old and that has been passed down through time they just make it sound bad ass, and they use a lot of really interesting ancient historical writings and poems as well. So I'd just like to say thank you Eluvetie for the super kick ass history lessons and creating incredible music!
Reminds me of the Witcher songs.

Fucking exquisite. The combination of pretty vocals, delicate folk and a little bit of a djent/tech death tone almost never happens, but it's one of the most beautiful things I've heard.

First time listening to Eluveitie rolling. Favorite band ever. Even more sick than before. 4 life!
Accidently "covers" like the intro from BSC can happen, when the melodies are as simple as this. I talked with the songwriter. He stated that it is neither stolen from BSC nor a cover of any folk song. He didn't know about BSC until the question's about the intro popped up on the internet.

Świetny kawałek i cudowny wokal :)
I found a reply to this question from Chrigel Glanzmann on the forum on the official eluveitie webpage. He said, that it's not copied from this Blood Stain Child song neither a traditional tune. It's just a simple melody which he composed and it sounds similiar to Metropolice randomly.
Unbelievable track! One which really opens up human nature and clears Your mind!
