That was actually a turning point in the relationship between my husband and family when I stopped complaining to them. I realized they hated him because you don't call mama when things are great, you call mama when you want to complain. I made a conscious effort to not immediately call her after a fight and let her in on the nice times. Made a huge difference.

Because shes an adult that's why shes annoyed they took her phone, it's a privacy issue, along with other things. I love my family but I wouldn't let any of them have my phone without me knowing what their doing with it cause it isnt theirs, its mine. Why do you think when we were kids how annoyed we got when teachers would take our phones in class? Its because it's not theirs, and I'm assuming here because I dont know 100%, but being an adult I'm gonna assume she pays her own phone bill, so those are the short reasons to get mad about it, but also the biggest. Or cause he has to know what your doing every minute? Like everything is being put on him because they dont like him, when that isnt a good reason to not like someone you dont know. Didn’t you know the new age decade to get married is 30+; it’s not the 70s or earlier when people got married after high school. Both men and esp. women want to go to college and have a career. You’ll be 26-27 when you start your internship as a doctor and if specializing add another 4-7yrs. So 33-34 to start as a cardiologist. So yeah, when it’s time to marry, what’s wrong with having a night or weekend trip? Most brides aren’t looking to get laid & neither are most grooms. It just a longtime passage before a wedding. I COMPLETELY agree with you. I hate this ideology in America that when you get married, it’s like a prison sentence. People get married because they WANT to! Because they’re in love! (Side note: I get that, unfortunately, this isn’t the case with every marriage, and sometimes people get married for many other reasons and that in itself feels like their trapped. But still!) The majority of people getting married get married because they’re in love, and they want to start a life and possibly a family with their best friend. It’s a time of celebration and love, not locking away your “freedom” and “fun”. Marriages should have a foundation of mutual respect, open communication, etc etc.

It is a sacrifice you have to be willing to make and so does your partner. That's what committing to each other means. If you don't want that, if you want to be free to do whatever you want - which is the very idea behind a Bachelorette party - you shouldn't get married. It's just disrespectful to her and her wishes. They are there to celebrate her future marriage and instead she gets treated like a child with no agency who fears her controlling man. Which fair enough, could be true, but there are valid reasons for being upset over this other than "my man will be angry at me".

I would not be keeping my composure as much as she was.

I completely understand why Libby wouldn’t be happy with her phone being taken away. It’s childish behaviour on her sisters part. My friends did it to me. Took my phone and I didn’t get it back for almost three whole days. It made me so mad, and of course made my boyfriend mad since he had no idea whether I was okay and safe since us girls were out camping for the weekend. Libby should have demanded her phone back.

If I have a bachelorette party, it's going to be in my house with my bridesmaids and we will order pizza and watch movies. I wouldn't go out partying, I'd just do something simple and fun

Same here. I'm not into partying at club & drinking a lot, so we a 3 day staycation/bachelorette in downtown Chicago with air bnb. On top of it being 4th of July weekend it was great.

Sounds like the letting loose is more for her friends and sisters. Does not sound like they can too much about her having fun.

Her sisters annoy me so much, but I wish she would have stood up for herself more instead of being passive aggressive about it. I would have demanded to have it back because it's my OWN personal property and I knew my fiance would be upset by it. But really, her sisters are a nightmare.
