Yeah i saw some of their family visit to his relatives. Dad keeps asking him what he did as a cop.If you ask me, he might have been a cop, but possibly a KGB or NKVD agent. If he was just a regular police officer, why not talk about it.Like how it's different in his country compared to the US. In this episode they mention about baptisizing the kids. I saw on the wall in his family's home what looked like a painting or image of a saint. So they could be Orthodox or some eastern rite branch of the Catholic Church. He's a bum and no good.

In many countries and cultures, including mine, your dad may pay for your wedding, or at least help you with some of the costs (although in 2020, I think pretty much most couples pay for everything, or virtually everything, without their parents now). Still, in this specific case, Andrei is clearly an utter bum who’s perfectly happy to tap his father-in-Law for whatever cash he needs. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen suck a feckless chancer on the make like Andrei is.
