These were some of the highest quality points I've seen in so long, so sad that this was a second round match. They both are playing at the top of their game which is so nice to see!!

this was the match of the tournament probably better than any other that we will see... and sadly it was played in shtty court. anwyays... i wanted ryba to win. bye.

One of the best matches of the season. The end of the second set was crazy and I thought Coco would be mentally down for the third but she kept fighting, great match from both, great fight from 2 true champions. I like Elena a lot and also Coco, Coco is finally ready for big matches and big wins

That might have been Coco’s best match ever. Her defense was amazing - she ran down everything Rybakina threw at her even though she’s one of the hardest hitters on the tour.

Damn, that was final worthy match... Neither one of them deserved to be eliminated that early... Elena lost the match in decent way, just Coco showed mental endurance like i never saw... I still believe Coco will become future no.1 and Rybakina future top 5 player... What a pity Wimbledon didn't give points, Rybakina would be already top 10 player and would get easier draws... Two matches against good players like Bouzkova and Gauff were hella hard start for Elena...

It literally reminded me of Serena azarenka Us open 2013! The long long rallies between attack and defense, and the second set that was stolen in the tiebreak. I'd say the roles are a bit different in this match tho, rybakina is more like serena and gauff like azarenka

Shocked and surprised that Coco was able to pull this one out. Stopped watching in the middle of the 2nd set, it looked to be another Coco crumble, but she won!

Wow, very high quality match. Just impressive from both players. Coco is absolutely breathtaking and she has become more aggressive and improved her serve. Just amazing!

I watched this match. So I’m impressed that y’all were able to create a highlights reel of ONLY 5 minutes! 👏🏾

Poor Elena still screwed over by those Wimbeldon points missing no way they should’ve met this early. Love what I’m seeing from Coco defending very well

@@anewx Did you read what I said? I said Elena got screwed over bc she did she won Wimbledon which should’ve given her 2,000 pts to get in the top 10 which would’ve prevented her from meeting Coco early in this tournament

Wow wow wow tremendous display of athleticism by both players! Huge suspense until the very end. The otherworldly defense by Coco to keep retrieving the blistering barrage of unbelievably precise, corner to corner bullets by Elena, ultimately overcame the Wimbledon champion’s well loaded arsenal. This will be a well remembered, high quality match of all time.

Coco Gaugh is so good, I came out of watching her at the Mubadala classic feeling that I was undercharged. Please, do not tell the organizers what I just said. Coco is focused, lively, lovable, athletic, bubbly, and charming. She may not win all the time like those before her, but there is something about her that just connects with the fans. I am certain that a few of those empty front seats in a sold-out final was because Coco did not make it, thanks to Mubadala's interesting schedule that had her playing 3 matches in three days. Coco is a legitimate superstar in the making. Did I mention that my next few athletic purchases will be New Balance just because of Coco? Now you know.

I have never such defending in wta. That girl is defending so well

COCO GAUFF!! Elena is one of the heaviest hitters out there and that wasn't enough. If Coco played like this in the french open she would have won!!

I doubt so. Iga was in beast mode then, then she was keeping winning streak. But definitely Coco without current form would lose way more decent than 1-6, 3-6.

Rybakina needs to improve her net game. She needs to take advantage of her height and come in more ( once her volley improves). Goff got a lot of balls back that no other player would, so props to her.

@@pemfimrs1419 Yeah. Watching Halep and Barty, it's hard for me to see that Coco isn't even better, or at least as good, at movement. The tall girls see more of the opposing court over the net, and long arms tend to be strong, but legs! not so much.

Wow! Great match from both players. Well done, Coco for hanging in there and coming through.

Rybakina needs to start coming in mid-court/towards the net and attack these short balls but right now she doesn't have the conviction to do it.. so she struggles to end the points even though her opponent is constantly defending. We saw this against Kasatkina who stood so far back and just kept on returning and Rybakina just didn't have the conviction to come in and end the points!

and this is interesting because in her wimbledon win was revolving around her power game and also her volley game to counter the dropshots of ONS. Who is known to have really good drop shots. And these can be troublesome towards baseline players that hit with power. So I agree.

Good effort by Rybakina. But goodness gracious, Coco was in a zone. Impressive.

WOW! This is the BEST I have seen Gauff MOVE!!!!! That girl was flying around this court! The players that Gauff MUST go through to get her first GS are (1) Iga and (2) Halep. Once she figures them out, WATCH OUT!

Coco seems to be getting better and better. Her defence is outstanding and looks like it was central to this win. Given Rybakina's immense hitting, it really needed to be.

This match was a BATTLE. Worthy of a grand slam final. Coco, her speed!!!!!! That’s her greatest asset in my opinion. Amazing fight from Rybakina, she has such a beautiful serve. I hope to see these two play each again in the future

This was my fav match of coco she was tracking down everything

I just wanted to say this and get it off my chest. That win in the second set was pure pure tennis class by Elena and it proves how mediocre this tournament is. They should have a bigger tennis court for this type of games. She was super strong and C. Gauff was quick and took and absorbed the aggression very well and ended up winning. Top notch game , high quality match. One of the better matches that I have seen in rogers/national whatever cup . I was sad she did not win. I am her fan more so than C. Gauff who is also a gifted player but can't feel too bad. Elena is still young. Rich. Pretty. And will play and get a win in other tournaments I think she just has to get adjusted to hard courts a little bit better. Some of those runs into the net she could have won. The difference in the game was very minimal. It could have gone both ways. She is still the champ and I am sure that deep down she knows she still has more tennis ahead of her. As a fan I would just wait. Super talented girls. Super talented Ryba who showed extreme prowess in precision in some shots today and took some bad chances but the other gilr - C. Gauff is good too. But if you watched the match - it was world class match. I am so sorry they had to play it in a makeshift stand made of aluminum and a stage. That is bad. It should be nicer for them , it will bring out more spirited effort rather than some sort of makeshift money /commercial perspective that is manipulated by a university that is known to have some questionable values in conjunction with a tennis federation that likes to lie to itself as to how fair they are to tennis young stars. Ask leylah if tennis canada saw any hope in her , ask f abanda or any other black or minority player. Ask them... they will tell you the truth. Tennis is a sport of investment and Elena R. is (in my opinion ) the epitome of a passion and love towards a sport . A pursue towards something that you like. Your goals and your dreams portrayed. NOT some sort of national pride in false colours like Tennis Canada is. For the most part. That is my honest opinion .

Wow love how coco handled Elena and with the defence of the highest order, coco really shrunk the court and got everything bk while obsorbing the pace and power from Elena smart tactics
