The cradle wing nuts are badly brassed and so I am replating them with Watts bright nickel. This is a pretty simple process using chemicals that can be economically procured from eBay. The plating solution is much less ecologically damaging than a chromium equivalent, but you should still use care to dispose of residues by absorption and reduction to base metal rather than just flushing them down the sink if you decide to do this (at your own risk!) yourself.
