This is really awesome to see! You're a good rider too, so we get to see the system utilized to potential.

Dude this is so awesome! So cool to see you and Rusty out there grabbing the hole shot and taking off. Need to get a horn mounted up for overtaking! Haha. How long did the battery swap take?
@electronracer
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah it was actually ebikes running 1-4 off the start with the gritshift guys and dbdirtybike. Battery swap was a little slow, almost 2 minutes each. Could be faster. Also had a couple of other minor issues that cost me some time but overall great first race.
Nice riding! It is easy to see your riding technique is very high! Much better than average rider in this video! thanks for sharing!

Thanks Don. Yeah they are great to ride. Having both feet free in the tight woods is a luxury.
Very cool to see a race situation. I have a 2010CRF250 with V3 and 50ah Molicel batteries. I want to race mine in a local MX race and see how it compares to my regular finishes. Interested to talk settings if you are interested. Bob

Thanks Bob. Regarding settings, one thing I have been wondering about is the efficiency of using flux weakening. I suspect its pulling a lot of amps at high speeds because of it. Gearing up and disabling flux weakening might be more efficient. Any opinion on that?

@@electronracer I am a buddy of Don Cox, great guy. I have been talking with Austin about using mode 3 at 80 or 85% to utilize flux weakening. He was going to test to be sure it doesn't create a runaway situation. What mode were you in for your race? Your sprocket saved my day in Az. with Don. Mine was too loose and he had on on hand to keep me going. Thanks

@@electronracer Not sure if my 1st reply went to you. I have been in contact with Austin at Electro about mode 3 with 80% power and flex weakening for rpm. He is going to test and be sure it does not do a runaway symptom. Were you in mode 3? Look forward to more videos. My son, Casmoto on youtube, puts out some of my 2 ebikes. Using one of your sprockets from Don now. Great fit and saved my ride day with him. Bob

This is a great video, I am thinking of converting a CRF250 to a similar setup. Looking to do Hare & Hounds in the UK (3h races), how many batteries did you use and how long did each one of them last? Thank you in advance!
@electronracer

Thanks! I use 3 batteries. Each one is good for about 30-40 minutes of aggressive off road riding.
My man, doin it! Dig the videos as Always. Need more! I finally jumped on board and ordered my kit. The updated e&c 30kw(burst) with the 260 controller. When and if you have time. 1- Are you selling batteries yet? I remember you were saying you might? If not. 2- Do you know if the battery you're using here will work for the updated kit? If not 3-.Could you point In the right direction on the custom ones. I'm using an 07 cr250r bike for the conversion. 3- Are you running the 520 chain setup? I Ride motocross here in nor cal and need at least 30 mins. *Again I appreciate you putting it on the line out there and sharing when possible! If you're ever up this way I've got a private 8ac. mx track with elevation changes I like to call "little Hangtown". Zaaap!

Hey man! Thanks! I'd love to ride sometime if I am ever out that way! At the moment, the only batteries I have available are some lightly used 72v 33.6ah packs, but they wouldn't meet your power/time demands. You will need more like 50-60ah for full 30min motos. Most amateur races are no where near that long so you could probably get away with less. Any battery should work with their latest kits as long as its appropriate volts/amps. I do have a good supplier of batteries, if you want to shoot me an email at info@lithium-king.com I can look into it. Yes, I am running 520 chain. I sell 520 sprockets on my website Lithium-King.com.
Great Build! What QS138 do you use? 70H or 90H??

I'm planning to build an E-Dirt Bike after seeing your video this weekend. 1). Does the controller allow customization of power delivery? For example, can I use an EM260 controller and dial the power back to similar performance of an EM150? Could you share more about the High/Low handlebar mounted button? 2). The batteries seem to be the most expensive part of the conversion. What are your thoughts on how to best acquire batteries? Electro & Co. offers 76v batteries: 48ah, 40 ah, 32ah, and lists the dimensions but not the weights. 3). Electro & Co. offers a 25kW kit for just under $4000. Is this a reasonable entry point, based on your build experience? How much do you estimate the cost of building an electric conversion, capable of riding 1-2 hour events? Thanks for sharing! Will take note of lithium-king and rapid3designs

Hey! Yes the controller allows all types of customization, including limiting power. The controllers allow multiple power profiles. I use the the handlebar button to switch modes. I have my batteries custom made by a Chinese manufacturer. The batteries are definitely not cheap. The Electro & Co. kits are good, they should have everything you need. Assuming the $4000 kit includes a battery that's not a bad price. You will need multiple batteries (or one very large one) for a 2hr event.
I built a 2.9kwh and a 3.1kwh nominal pack for my 2 Zero MXEs. The packs weigh 35lbs and 40lbs. Trail riding I get 3hrs plus at a exploring pace. about 30 miles but very technical here. Steep and tight lot of trees. Just curious why the packs that are on these Electro & Co are only 2.4kwh? The KTM Freeride E (which we have a lot of them around here) are 3.9kwh
@electronracer
Жыл бұрын
I think its just a good size to fit in a frame. Mine is also 2.4kwh (and only 29lbs) but I swap them out. I might be going to slightly larger pack in the future though.
