Natural World: London’s Wild Side
London is the ultimate urban environment - look out of the window, take a walk down the street, these views can be devoid of any natural life, with everything man-made. But looking again, with the right eyes, you can see that nature is actually here in abundance. This surprising film meets the people who have followed their own call of the wild to establish relationships with city animals, and meets those creatures that have adapted to thrive in this urban jungle.
Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

The only problem is, if that lady isn't able to feed them anymore, they need to be able to go back to feeding themselves. The main reason they say it's not good to feed wild animals is, they stop being afraid of humans, and they may approach someone that will harm them, and they may fight with cats and dogs, but I think in this case it's fine.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. ask ANYONE who studies wildlife for a living and they'll tell you NEVER to feed wildlife. I've worked at wildlife shelters and this is how animals end up getting hurt. They do know an easy meal, which is why they will approach other humans for food.

@@wolfrevenant1489 again, you clearly don't have a wildlife biology background. Bears, raccoons, coyotes, foxes and other animals are regularly shot in the United States if they approach humans for food more than twice. First, they translocate but if the animal returns to seek food from people its put. "a fed animal is a dead animal" is a common saying in the US I'm a wildlife photographer and have been chased by an orangutan who learned to associate humans carrying backpacks with food

Same way dogs are trained or we learn a foreign language. When food is held high over their heads, it's easier for them to sit. That's when she drops the treat. Eventually the connection between the sound, response and getting the treat is made.

True she should just give them a raw piece of meat. Nobody knows what goes into a sausage.

@@Justin.D.DC4L well... Nitrates? But yes, chicken hearts or livers, meat would be a much better choice. Not quite as British though as a proper sausage! 🌱

It's not the fox health organisation, they don't study whether foods are healthy for foxes or not. Foxes are smaller and don't live as long as humans which are things that generally make animals less prone to cancer. And cancer is mainly an old age disease, wild foxes are pretty likely to get hit by a car or something before they reach old age

Don't mean to be disrespectful, but when she dies those foxes might be in a lot of trouble. Might be even worse for the cubs if she's around long enough to feed them and they don't even develop proper hunting skills because they've been taught to just come see Granny Sausages.

I don't want to sound mean but in my country (Canada) this would be considered unethical (and socially disapproved of) to feed wild animals, because they lose the ability to feed themselves and become too reliant/used to humans. Although "wild animals" here would be bears or wolves or cougars, for example, so them getting habituated to humans is dangerous and can get them euthanized.

Not true. And foxes don't hurt people so it's not the same as with bears

@Ben J Ok but you can't get rid of urban fauna just because you judge their quality of life to be worse than individuals of their species living in more natural environments. Foxes will live in English cities whether people feed them or not
