The hit boxes are broken for sure. The charge will damage you twice sometimes.

@@batnsarl9169 this works perfectly when he is charging from close range. once he charges from more distance, his hitbox will somehow increase and the dodge window becomes incredibly narrow. I've clipped this multiple times when I streamed for my friends, I never failed dodging close range, but distance charge I haven't dodged once

Either stand completely still and dodge at 10 o'clock direction, or strafe left and dodge right before contact for dodging the further away charge

when you enter the room run left around the corner and his charge gets him stuck on the wall. Leaving you ample time to summon mimic and buff or whatever

Yes! I dodged forward at first and it didn’t work, the next charge he did I rolled slightly to the side and I got passed him, so my next try I did that again and it hit me again, I was like wtf is this bs.

Yeah LMAO. Some people claim you can roll into his charge as soon as you come out of the fog door but that never worked for me. It's the only way I saw people can dodge his "I'm-so-happy-to-see-you-you-POS" move he pulls as soon as he charges at you out the door.

For people wondering how the mimic keeps healing itself, it’s because she probably has raw meat dumplings on her hot bar. Mimics can use items infinitely even if you have just one equipped. Ergo, have at least one dumpling equipped as a consumable item when you summon your mimic and it will heal itself fairly reliably.

I think it’s sad you have to defend yourself about using an in game mechanic, this community has become so toxic. Use whatever means you have been given to beat whatever boss, it’s meant to be played that way. If you decide not to use said mechanics and want to get gud then go for it but don’t bully those who don’t care to do so.

Yeah , no idea why do people feel the need to try to force to people into playing a certain way, or diminish your gameplay because you used summons. I saw somebody saying that using summons is not a true way of playing souls, like bro, im not going to loose my mind playing the game, its supposed to be fun, a relief.

Wether you like it or not using a mimic tear makes the fights ten times easier. Instead of learning the dodge patterns, waiting for an attack window and actually getting good you now wait for your mimic tear to distract him and attack the boss in the back without any consequences. You’re wrong elden ring is not ment to play that way. It is a mechanic in the game serving as help for people who need some extra help beating the game. Me personally i cant understand how it is enjoyable to beat the boss in 3 tries with a mimic instead of actually going through the journey of learning the boss and finally beating him. But i agree that everyone should just enjoy the game the way they want that is the most important

When you enter the bossroom, simply run left around the corner completely, summon mimic, 2hand blasphemous blade and spam L2. 5 L2's was all it took me. (after dying 300 times) -edit Scadutree blessing lvl 15 by the way

F*cking hell, thank you! After a respec for this blade I did it on the 3rd try. I tried it before with different summons and help from other players but this blade was a gamechanger.

@@mikem0ke you gotta hug the wall and move in the lil nook that's around the corner, gets half his hitbox stuck running up against the wall. Not sure if it got patched though, I'll find out later this week when my other character reaches him

tbis boss was dumb because even with a shield his boar charge attack drains half your HP. like.... that's not how shields work in souls games.

Right? He completely ignores my mimic 99% of the time and is up my ass the entire time.

That charging attack needs to be coming to me faster so that I can dodge into his hitbox with dodge roll i-frames. That is one big stepping stone to make this boss better. I can’t fathom how testers even dodged into that charging attack or whatever happened. Did that charging attack get properly tested?

I’ve been trying to not use my mimic tear, but you’re right, this guy deserves it. Unless I experience a Groundhog Day situation, I’m not going to get good enough to beat him on my one.

I'm curious what sprit blessing you're at here, my mimic dies immediately it feels like.

Bloodhound step makes the boss doable

boss will focus in on you first before going for the actual spirit summons the mimic seems be the only one that has this aggro first thing going since its basically just copying you. any other summon will just get killed unless there another spirit summon i dont know about that is both tanky and heals it self and dose best damage and keeps aggro with the boss . but this boss can easily keep up with torrants attacks if you decide to think smart and try to jump over him, then he just easily switch side to attack torrant , even tho this fight near cliff side you cant force him to jump off any actual interest way to fight this guy throw it out the window. sacred blessing level needs to be 12 to15 above .you try to just keep fighting tho if you get luckily ash blessing needs to be 10 to 15 as well. use mohg spear for its LT ability and get on the other side one the walls for the first phase if your really luckily you wont have to leave that wall, but if not you gonna have to fight him use mimic at level 9 or 10 and switch walls fk honor he deserves to get cheese,

Using the Spell, Miriam’s Vanishing move worked well will dodging the charge attack.

I miss when FromSoft bosses had attack windows that the player could utilize

The boss has so many openings as long as you try to to learn how to dodge his attacks. It's fine to rely on summons or long range AoW to kill him, everybody plays the way he likes. But don't complain about things that are not real please.

you can dodge into his charge at the last moment. But hitboxes are broken af so it works 8/10 times. Dodge his charge into the rhino

my advice is no matter what, do NOT use your horse, bro is like twice if not three times faster than it and will kill it easily

i cant even get out of the fog gate lmao

i stunned him with greatstars and swapped it to marias executioner. fully charged one did like 40% of his hp per time

this boss is ridiculous

He likes to spam his charge attack and 1 shot me with the ground gravity under me. Cant figure out how to get away from that. It happens right under me and by the time i see him queue it, its too late. Its too big of an aoe for me to get out

Yeah he is giving u great treatment he one shoted my black knife tiche 2 times hes maxed out and have my rivered ash to 6 😅

How the hell is your mimic healing

I don't really think he's hard personally, but I do think he's just a bad boss. His hitboxes are just all over the place and he can hit you twice on some moves.

If you want to kill Commander Gaius, try to use incantions against to him with your mimic. I reccomend the spell from the Giant Fire and other spells whatever you want.

Trusty Blasphemous Blade worked first try for me as usual, after an hour trying different dlc weapons

If you use the Fingerprint Stone Shield, it completely blocks like 90% of his attacks if you stay on the right side. I'm just not good with shields so I still die...😭😭

One of the most irrational bosses you can encounter in the game. Oddly large hitbox on the horse charge move got me killed many times. i used bolt of gransax+ mimic to just to survive and hit it a few times and i finally defeated on my 42th attempt. I remember having nearly the same number on malenia before that.

Fought this dude today and i can say he is the worse cheap boss i have ever fought. here i though bael was bad when i did that fight but no this dude takes the cake. Hes hit boxes are a joke and even targeting him like having him locked on a lot of my jump attack would not hit or land. I was able to beat him but my god i dont even consider him hard you just cant do much because your getting slam left and right and him hitting you with combos that take half your life. When i finished this fight i just felt annoyed and i feel true souls bosses shouldn't leave you with a feeling like that but with a feeling of loving the fight and the boss and feeling proud you beat it.

It’s not about learning how to dodge properly. I beat malenia 3 times, did a no hit on blood starved beast, beat midir while only getting hit 3 times and accidentally did a no hit on storm king. Dodging is easy for me but for commander gayass, it’s feels like luck. I’ve seen people dodge the head on charge and ik there is a window to dodge but on multiple occasions, I’ve dodged to the side and was nowhere close to him and still got hit, I’ve dodged through and got hit way after he passed me. That’s the only move I cannot dodge at all in this fight and of course he uses this move more than anything else for me

I used rivers of blood, mimic, and a whole lotta tries! Maybe 30 attempts before i got used to the boss pattern. Summon mimic asap, then horse, get out in the open, and off the horse, then finally battle this guy. It was very frustrating but you guys can do this

Put bloodhound step on a fire knights great sword or a great katana. There are two or three attacks you can jump over instead of roll to get a jumping attack on him. Dodge right on his long combo. When he flies in the gravity spin you have to wait until he starts moving at you then bloodhound step at him and jump attack. You should take no damage from the spinning gravity thrust this way if you do it right.

The ash of war „raptor of the mists“ makes nearly every boss doable. You can avoid any damage and stagger them so fast

Until they do a chain attack and knock you out the air… I actually use raptor of the mist a lot especially with the new dryleaf fist

I'm not even able to think while I'm going in. It's pure survival for a few seconds till I'm chopped meet 😅 was able to get 3/4 of his health bar once ans thats it

You should also try fighting him on horseback, is a bit more manageable

They patched the wall cheese I believe. The trees and obstacles that used to slow him down so you could get away are now destructive so you CANT get him wedged

I ended up cheesing him. It sucks because the 1st time I fought him he seemed fun and challenging but that immediate charge on entry got pretty annoying.

Dodging at 1 o'clock worked for me Also I noticed that the boar fangs have no hitboxes so you should start Rolling when he's VERY close

Honestly think it's the debris on the ground that gets me killed

It’s a Fang Boar

This might just be my experience, but I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to fight him on torrent. The arena he’s in seems purposefully massive to allow for horse combat. His charge is intentionally hard to dodge if you’re on the ground, but once you’re on torrent it’s a fair attack. In fact all of his moves seem pretty fair once you add torrent to the equation. He plays like Rykard to me, you CAN beat him without the weapon they give you, but that makes the fight way more tedious and frustrating. You CAN beat giaus without torrent, but the fight is supposed to be fought with him.

Ngl I killed him first try by luck I did not know this was a hard fight

So many times I hit a are skill that covers half his body and he takes 0 damage

Fromsoft literwlly shit the bed (again) with the amount of broken shit in this dlc. They really gotta hire outside talent to help them balance their games. The backhand blade ashes of war have deatroyed pvp haha its just l2 spam again

Ahmm 😂 who tell her that she literally just got a bit gud lol yeah she used the mimic BUT she actually used her brain unlike most casuals things like mentioning openings, being not too greedy and aware of that back kick and switching to the side after a couple hits to avoid that…. Those are all things a veteran does too, just with better rolling discipline which grants you better stamina usage aka not being overwhelmed by an aggressive boss. You had your mimic for that but you still did a great job and thats what we call get gud… get gud never was an insult in the OG souls scene… it genuinely just was the best general advice one could give to another 😊 you memorised patterns, got some discipline in you and picked a tool you deemed fit for the purpose and you had success. The definition of getting gud ^^ attagirl 😋

I was super frustrated, took a breather, watched this, and went back and did it on the first try lol thanks for telling me its ok to not perfectly dodge anything, I think I needed that

This is first time I am playing a souls game and I beat this dude in one hour with no summon, just stay close to him he won't charge.

What worked for me: 1/ Great shield soldiers +10 2/ Dragon communion incantations - frost and rot Hid behind my summons and rotted him to death from afar. Fair warning tho - dont try this unless you are atleast level 10 in scadutree blessings and level 5 in spirit summons. All the best!

This is not the most annoying boss in Shadow Of The Erdtree. That stupid mob spawner gatekeeping the Abyssal Woods is the most annoying boss in the game. Hands down, no question about it. I put the Mimic on his ass and I don't care what anyone thinks about it. Dude was 2 shotting me with that BS magic on top of the nonstop mob spawns. Nothing pisses me off more than a mob spawning boss. It's a tell tale sign of poor boss design using mobs to increase difficulty and I'm embarrassed for From for making something like that. Shouldn't have been in the game. And definitely shouldn't have been gatekeeping. It deserves the Mimic. I'm as hardcore of a Souls player as you get. Haven't used a single fragment and running around on a dex build with 44 vitality in NG+7. Don't even use armor in boss fights...... F that boss.....

The worst boss. How in the f world a boss that is not even that important is much harder than the main bosses? Is ridiculous. I beat sekiro without much trouble, bloodborne too, everything and i cant believe im struggling with this guy. They made him so annoying in purpose
