Making the "mini sequel" to Elden Ring as a big, and relatively expensive, DLC is a pretty good idea. The devs can reuse the same engine as is, while concentrating on just making new content. Also, who's ready for 18 inches of Messmer?

I used it for the first few months, there was a channel on youtube called Mordecai that did daily info for a year leading up to release. His followers all set a group password on release day, it was beautiful.

​@@mkv2718 I have hypothesized that the perfume "weapons" will be a class of pure elemental damage. Which for 1 makes sense and for 2 would be unique. I guess spoiler warning: The gameplay footage we have shows the standard fire perfume, which may be faith based. As well we see a blue perfume, which may be int based. Iron Pineapple mentioned the possibility of a lightning perfume which would be either faith, dex, or maybe both? If so then this class might have "weapons" that cater towards multiple build types, like all weapon classes tend to. Or at least I hope so. Would be kinda disappointing if they all required 1 specific build to use...

I would have added Larval Tears to the list alongside dragon stones, as those are pretty useful for trying out new weapons, especially the ones that have high requirements

well I don't think you will upgrade DLC weapons with stones. Because then you would be just instantly able to upgrade any new weapon to max lvl and that just doesn't seem fun.

@@mrcup4775you could usually farm the best upgrade materials in FS dlcs.

In regards to the tip about crafting, I too don't use a lot of craftable items, but I highly recommend you remember to always bring bone darts with you wherever you go. Why you may ask? Yes they have terrible damage, but remember that enemy posture regenerates very quickly when they go for a certain time (six seconds I believe) without being hit. So I always throw bone darts whenever I'm retreating for a heal, or waiting for an approach, using this simple strategy earns me so many more critical blows that it has completely transformed how I play. It's now a fundamental tool that I bring into every boss and miniboss. Plus it makes critical blows easier to land against bosses your playing defensively against, which you'll be doing more since we're unfamiliar with these new boss movesets. I recommend binding bone darts to a pouch so you can use a simple button combo to use it immediately. Oh and they're immediately available and stupid cheap too, just kill a few wandering animals, you'll thank me later.

Now this is a good tip, especially for heavy weapon builds, since they do high poise damage but, being as slow as they are, give you fewer attack windows. This means that your strategy to keep the enemy's poise from regenerating too fast mitigates one of the downsides of using heavy weapons

@@brodericksiz625 I didn't mention it in my comment, but yea I've doing a run with the Guts colossal sword, mainly because I'm trying to learn a playstyle I have a lot difficulty with before the DLC. I couldn't imagine how challenging it would be to get consistent posture breaks without this tip. But with this tip, it actually makes colossal weapons easy mode. Because the weapons' inherently high damage their critical strikes are beefy and they break posture stupidly fast even with pokes, so long as you stop posture regen. Plus there are a lot of situations where it's too risky to approach with a colossal weapon, but this tip gives you something to keep track of while looking for an opening. Keeping focused is key.

Ziostorm, you're actually the first Elden Ring content creator (that I'm aware of) to promote leaving key NPC's alive for the DLC. Indeed, I have been doing very much the same. I've kept Melina, Malenia and Gideon alive. I did finish Millicent's questline, but have not even breached the fog gate to Malenia. I like to say she has "diplomatic immunity" until the DLC comes out. I've also refused to burn the Erdtree, but I do have a save with the Frenzied Flame on NG+2, as well as one without it in its first playthrough.

Man much respect and appreciation for the spoiler free approach leading up the the release. I too have been avoiding anything related to dlc content. Thanks for the vid!

Groups are one of my favourite additions, got all my friends in a group, its really neat seeing each others messages and bloodstains then laughing at them.

4:34 I had one case when this really helped when I ran through Farum Azula in the location with birds and dragon attacking with lightning near bridge to Maliketh (Everyone surely knows this place), then dragon tried to burn me to a crisp with breath attack but I survived with low hp, I was baffled at first because I was certain my character should be dead and then I saw “Your message was appraised”

Soulsborne games have always been a superior experience offline.

I pretty much did everything already. The only thing I won't do here is play with a group, I hate playing Fromsoft game online because of all the messages and blood stains around, I usually clear everything offline so I get a more immersive experience, then I turn on online so I can help other players fight their bosses.

I particularly hated it in Sekiro, went offline immediately after seeing how intrusive the messages were. And there wasn't even any jolly cooperation to make up for it.

​@truthserum273 I would say +18 weapons are decent as there are obviously more upgrade materials within the dlc. Alongside the new attack power mechanic. Bell bearing I agree you should 100% get all the Bell bearings for stones just to get +9 somber and +24 standard hassle free. Mimic tear is unnecessary while I'm a spirit ash hater there's bound to be new spirit ashes in the dlc as well thar might surpass mimic tear.

Usually 1-3 titanite slabs (ancient dragon stones) alongside Usually materials equivalent to mid and late game for upgrades. If they don't follow their own dlc formula I'd be shocked

I’m going in with an int/fai at 45 each, Prince of death staff, deaths poker, and golden order seal, maxed at lv120, at least for now, with both incants and spells at about a 60/40 split. It’s my favourite build, and I’m yet to burn the tree. I thought I’d stop there, go into dlc and see how I fare, I think it will be a good challenge and I can enjoy completing the main game again with new weps and spells and anything else they give us. I have a lv 200 I completed the game on if I get desperate, with all the kit, so I’m covered if I get trounced. Can’t wait! Look forward to more great content from you as we explore more of this truly epic game.

I love the Ancient Dragon smithing stones it just gives rewards for lore that the very ingredient to deal with the highest damage is something contained in a dragon

I'm with you and the first blind run. I haven't watch any of the sneak peaks or listened to any of the discussions about it. I've watched the original gameplay trailer and the story trailer, that's it, and that's all I will watch until after I finish the dlc. Blind runs of fromsoft games is some of the best gaming experiences you can have.

There is another ancient dragon smithing Stone in the consecrated snow fields next to the theodorix magma wyrm boss fight on a ledge next to the frozen waterfall

The messages thing is truly important. Last time I navigated the Lyndell sewers after Mohg I left messages in every tunnel that had a dead end, people like those messages all the time, totally helps having the free heals.

Im glad you brought up Gideon. i wonder what spell/incantation he would learn if we told him about where Miquella is after SOTH.

Trying to figure out if i wanna start a new run and rush to collect everything or if i wanna just go in on my ng+8 character. I wonder if the DLC stat thing would balance out all the levels from ng+8.

5:42 you can simply kill gurranq and get the ancient dragon smithing stone right away instead of doing his complete questline every ng+ if you're farming these stones fast.

I have started a new character a week ago to get ready for DLC. Doing some of side quests right now including Rya quest and basically not trying to burn Erdtree or even fighting Morgott right now. Already killed Mohg and Radahan. Now just trying to get all the talismans that are available. Also level 100 right now. Going to do subterranian shunning grounds next.

Interesting IRL lore about the mauseleum bells - IRL the large shrine bells are said to be designed to be loud enough to be heard in the underworld. I found it interesting that shardbearer mauseleums had this bell while the non-shardbearers did not. While I doubt it has any game lore implications I do find the idea of the Shadow Land being informed somehow via these bells intriguing.

Something cool I wish I caught on camera was how beneficial the messages could be. It can be rare now but when the game was out for less than a year I was fighting a boss fight and on a death hit from a boss someone liked my message, fully healing me, and leading me to defeating the boss. I honestly put as many messages as possible just to make this happen again.

Just got the game again on PC so I can have everything maxed out in all its Elden glory. So hyped!

I'm guessing the DLC will have one last bell bearing for each of the smithing stones, and the glove/graveworts, so we can upgrade all weapons to level 10/25, and max out all our summons.

I love the fact that every video you make lasts exactly the same time I take to eat, start eating and hit play - finish eating and boom you videos end, PERFECTION 😂

I had just finished my dlc prep build and stopped before killing Radagon just in case of a new ending, but I didn’t even think about keeping malenia or gideon alive, so I guess I have to do another dlc prep playthrough

Does the DLC start off after the main story. So you need a max level character? Or can you start DLC level 1

The thing about getting the somber smithing stone from Millicent quest is that you have to choose. The smithing stone or to kill her and get Millicent Prosthesis. It's a hard pick cause you miss out on either a max weapon or one of the best talismans in the game (Depending on build)

You have never used crafting system in ER?! Dude! It's awesome. Right now I am doing a playthrough where I minimize the usage of spells and maximize the usage of crafted items. They are freakishly useful.

Can you do/ would you like to do a video about build suggestions? I have a character with most of the major stuffs you've included in this video at RL 150, currently using a Marika's hammer + shield build, but I am not entirely sure about it.

I started another play through when they announced the dlc launch. Haven't had much time, so i'm only at carrion manor. I plan on doing the minimum to enter dlc. That way, I can take the new weapon types back to the base game for a different experience to finishing the play through

I’d say get your stats up to the last soft caps they have, 1 fully upgraded weapon for each class (strength, intelligence, etc.) have a full set of talismans for each class and your buffing incantations/spells/items.

I found an amazing video showing the inspiration for the shadows lands of elden ring from GRRM's a song of ice and fire. It's from a youtuber called "the disputed lands" and the video is called "The Land of Shadow inspiration DISCOVERED... hiding in the ANCIENT LORE of ASOIAF." I think so many videos of elden ring lore in the community have really overlooked this. I think that the scaffolding of the elden ring story was built off of this. The video is only about 8 minutes long too but it says soooo much!

I am on maxed out level, have all the ball bearings, all weapons, all items except 3 that i missed on Lyndell before it burned down. double weapons. Maxed out on runes that I can do another max level. SO READY FOR THIS DLC!!! LETS GOOO!!!!
