I'm going to be a cringe music nerd for a while, while you're not wrong that goths aren't just depressed and dramatic, pong is in line with the industrial rivethead side of alternative subcultures. They are called "cybergoth" in clothing style but they aren't actually the goth subculture. That consists of people who listen to music like Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus, along with deathrock like Christian Death. The "cybergoth" term actually originated from goths getting into industrial music, and then the genres got mixed up with one another despite being very different. There were lots of early crossover bands before these subcultures ever had names, and so they were deemed the same thing by uninformed outside media. Industrial eventually strayed further towards EDM and metal, and goth rock strayed more towards darkwave and dark post-punk. They're incredibly different genres and subcultures now. I like the name rivet head for this style of dress and subculture. I'm in both subcultures, and they've got different feels at shows, and the music is very different, as are the styles, so rivet heads deserve to be recognized as their own special thing rather than being needlessly lumped in with goths.

After Punk Rock's Black Flag, etc. Then, RUSH, Black Sabbath & my Favorite Def Leppard! etc. There was nothing better than rocking guitars with keyboards to fill it in, like Loverboy, etc? I melded into Metal, once I found Venom and Mercyful Fate. It was all over. I just like talented musicians. Since I'm of the original MTV days, Music Videos are what it's all about. BUT, you gotta listen to the song AT LEAST ONCE! before you see the video! (it's a rule for me) It may taint or alter the way the song plays in yer head. Eh? OMG! I'm a Music Nerd! lol

Hi, I grew up with gothic punk music. The clubs I went played punk/gothic and my looks fit these trends, I always wished to learn how to industrial dance. I really enjoy the music and the esthetics of the industrial trend, iam 55 and decided to learn and started going to this club that plays industrial. I am surrounded by 20s & 30s. I am an obvious amateur: Doesnt stop me from having a blast. Thank you for this great video among others. Love the dancing and music

I was alsways in the goth scene and was older than most of the young cybergoth people at this time but I enjoyed them a lot more than some of the "old, lazy, goth-people" I was used to...

+god raper serves em right. i was never a fan of the mouse guy. haven't listened to much, but what I did hear reminded me of the noises when the garbage truck outside struggles to lift the over filled dumpster.

I may be 31 but I would STILL go full cyber goth in a millisecond. I never got to explore the culture like I wanted to, my grandparents were freaked enough just LOOKING at a hot topic, but I managed to be "that one goth girl" anyways, then I went all scene kid after the emo thing and now I just dress like a potato because I don't leave the house.....

Right behind you. I'll be 31 this year and cybergoth was my 'thing' for quite some time. I'd go right back to it in a split second because that was the closest to 'me' I ever got to be. You could go to the EDM clubs dressed like this and they'd either be amazed, completely welcoming, or all of the above. It turned me into a club girl whereas I'm otherwise the extremely silent introvert that never leaves the house. Would really need to shape back up though. Lol.

I really like what they did with the pong "cube" in the video. the song is awesome and the dancing was great. the overall color/style scheme made me think of the matrix.
