Eibach VS OEM spec springs. Which is better for the Alfa Romeo GTV?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Full initial setup suspension setup on my car:
Koni Sport adjustable shocks absorbers.
Eibach Pro 20mm springs
Fully Polly bushes rear end.
In this episode I remove the Eibach springs in favour of some OEM specification springs for a better, more compliant ride on real world public roads. The results is quite simply drastic! For smooth roads or track use the Eibach are perfectly fine but for normal road use they just aren’t fit for purpose. A stiff ride doesn’t necessarily mean better road holding for normal use. I hope you enjoy the video.

Really enjoyed that Rick.... 👍🏻 I went for as close to standard on mine as recommended by my Alfa Guru. Koni Street... Suplex... and all new arms with the rose joints.... also fitted a Quaife while I was at it. No complaints from me with regards to the handling.... although she's back off the road now for a bit more fettling. 👍🏻

hey rick, nice video again! I lowered my twinnie too, about 25mm with KAW-springs, koni street. it drives poor compared to factory springs, but the lowering looks very sharp, I love that and won't rebuild it anyway. conclusion, as yours: factory standard works best! they did a really good job.

Thanks Dean. I was never a fan of how it sat with the Eibach springs, particularly on the rear. I expressed my concern about fitting them before I’d even taken delivery of them. Anyway, I’m much happier now that it’s sitting and handling as it should. Literally transformed 👏🏼👍🏼

Hey Rick Always enjoy watching 👍 You can also get powerflex to front lower suspension arms. It gives just a little bit more sharpness in steering on the front. Have it on mine. I also got koni, but have tried different setups and now using 30mm Vogtland springs. Eibach are hard springs and Vogtland are a bit more soft. I've got powerflex both front and rear. Koni front about 2 turns and rear in click 2. Have been on some trackdays and with toyo r888 on it. It drives like it is on rails.. But not much oem over it 😂

What I've noticed with the eibach pro kit on the V6 is that the rear sits a little bit too low compared to the front. I'm convinced this contributes to the problems in handling. On the TS it looks level. I don't think eibach ever got those springs right for the V6.

Yo Rick, nice clean job as always. If you do this job again, safety wire up the coils when they're compressed. Also, you have to oil up the threads on the coil compressors with a lightweight oil, ie 10 weight ie ATF. The resistance you felt winding em has a lot to do with this.

Actually you can fit and remove the Eibach springs without a spring compressor. You need to compress the spring just a tiny bit by hand to fit the nut. The Eibach is stronger because of the bigger diameter wire used. Not because the way it is wound.

As commented before for some reason the eibach pro kit springs don't work the best with the V6. I think you're doing the rjght thing by going oe spec which presumably is the Suplex you bought and keep the Koni shocks. Definitely get the Alfa holics uprated ARBs On the TS a trick at the front is to fit the ARB from the Fiat coupe. This is a direct fit but is 23mm diameter. Works really well.
