I had this happen to me. I had cancelled my membership months prior they claimed I didn't. They sent my bill to collections because I refuse to pay. The funny thing is they can charge this "subscription fee" for a year and block access since you didn't pay. But how can they charge you for something you didn't use? There was a class action lawsuit in CA because of this. Spread the word dont use this site.

I thought I was trying to sign up for 30 days to try it out. Looked at my bank statement and they had me charged for a 2 year subscription. Went through the BBB and all I got back was terms of service. The second reply was basically we already answered so we aren't even going to reply. They are crooks.

I changed my credit card number after I discovered the unauthorized eharmony charges.

Thanks for the review....it seems all dating sites have their way of ripping us off. I live in a very small town hence the demographics does not justify paying for membership. My friend is on 3 dating sites. Years have passed and he still has no one to date and he's just turned 70. I told him our demographics are not in our favor but he's still paying into these sites. I said he was better off with mail order brides.

Changing your card number doesn't help. You have to get a new card and make sure you tell your bank to STOP the recurring payments from them!!

I just signed up a few hours ago. I have the most open search parameters and a huge search radius in a very populous state ( Connecticut). I have only 48 matches. That's it. 48 women to choose from in the entire state!! Not to mention that about 90% of the women are obese. So if you aren't into obese women, you have about 7 or 8 women to choose from in the entire state. I did some research and found that 11 states can get a refund on that site. Thanksfully CT is one of them. I just sent them an email asking for a refund. I hope I get it.

Sounds about right lol. I live in Sydney Australia and got like 30 matches within a very generous 50kms of where I am, and all the men are very undesirable. Neckbeards galore! Within half an hour I requested a cancellation to my subscription but they're so insistent to keep charging me. I won't give up, but this is insanely predatory. I hope you got your refund.

Not only that but they will randomly change their prices. I've filled complaints. They've also got an arbitration agreement that they can't be sued!!

I’m convinced eharmony and match hire average looking women to engage with men on the site. The ratio of men to women would be higher number of men. So I think they hire women to engage in short conversations with men. I figured this out when match had the same women as eharmony and the same women would engage in the same short conversation to get you back on the site and your profile “active.” I believe the number of actual women are staggering lower.

@@NickGDaniels yes it matches the behavior. This one girl I seen on match had limited engagement. She would write one sentence but the email would never show. You get on, see her message then you browse around causing some engagement to the site. Then I got on eharmony and see the same person, photo everything. I sent her a message and get a one sentence response but no acknowledgment of our previous match conversation. Then I asked her out and she again sent a one sentence unrelated message. I then started to investigate more and identified about 4 other accounts in my area that fits the same behavior where they have both match and eharmony profiles. The same individuals are not on any free sites.

If you think about it, most women wouldn’t want to pay that much money for a dating app, which means there’ll be less women on there.

This app robbed me of over $500! They won't refund my money! If they did the same thing to you we need to stand up and fight this company!

What would happen if you paid with a Visa gift card? (Or MasterCard) Purchase one for say $50, that way you could cancel after one month, and the next months payment won't be able to go through. NSF non sufficient funds.

They now say I have a 12 month plan to pay when had them turn off automatic renewal which is not true! I took the 6 month plan but have no proof on paper!

total scam, I got ripped off for $450, I cancelled after 1 month and they continue to bill me for 1 year. customer service was a joke. the site had mostly no pics and the few nice looking women were fakes

Eharmony is a scam, I canceled my credit card charge.....I signed up I went from 90 matches to 30, it was DEAD in my area.

They had a $29.95 a month plan which is deceiving cause you wound up paying $89.00. Why when it said $29.95 per month? No I didn't sign up for it.

Hilly is the worst. You should check that out. Lol, it has the same lame go live thing as the Meet Me app has. What it does have that is somewhat cool is stories but get this; they actually charge extra if you want to see anybody attractive. So, Hilly is flat out saying we are going to show you ugly people until you pay us 😂

This pricing strategy is fairly common among subscription services across the board - including dating sites. You are right ... there are free and lower-cost / better pricing-tiered dating sites out there, but you know the old adages: "You get what you pay for" and "Free is costly." You can find diamonds in the rough if you have the time to sort and sift on the those sites, but generally speaking, the quality of the candidate pool is much higher on sites where the subscription price is higher.

E harmony is terrible . They instantly bill you . I had it for a year , I’m a 58 year old in shape semi retired man with a good job to help supplement my retirement . I went on one date . This person was very arrogant , talked about how active she was in her church . How she thought she was at a much higher level of Christianity than most people . She was attractive but took three calls on our date which I ended as soon as possible . As soon as she talked about how she was so much more religious than everyone , I asked her( in a nice way ) is that what her bible teaches ? She laughed , took another call and I said well I have a busy day tommorow I better let you go . I tried to get a refund after two months but you can’t , thrn they automatically renew you on when your six months is up so I got charged for a year and went on one date . That’s my story and I hope other people may have better luck , but I personally would never recommend r harmony or any other dating site to anyone . They are all scams.

I figured out eharmony hires some average looking women to spend time on the site. I can’t prove it but having been on both match and eharmony it is safe to say there are anecdotal evidence of this practice. I recall reading long ago really pretty women would get hire to engage men on the site but I feel that would be too obvious. I feel eharmony and match both hire people to engage on the site so men will return to look. You can easily identify these people because the would send quick one sentence responses and usually space them out across a few days. When you get back on the site more “matches” for you to look and perhaps an actual real person would be on but they will not talk to you since they have 100s of other mens competing with you for the same girl. Overall the success rate is small right around 17% forming a relationship from the site.
