Not egyptian, but my family moved to Egypt when I was 7. We came back to America after 4 years (2011). I’ve always longed for the street foods made with this bread, now I can hopefully make it with your video and get the nostalgic tastes again ☺️

When 2 of my co-workers in Philadelphia, PA showed me to make this bread, it was over 40 years ago. They're from Egypt and introduced me to various cooking because we could not speak each others' language too well. BUT FOOD is always great connection! I am so grateful you have made this video, and that other people can share the same love. Peace. Shalom.Shanti blessings to you and your whole family. Eat well, feel well. 🤗

I was born in Riyadh and grew up almost in all cities while my father was an engineer working there. I remember his passion for this and the burr. Though my mom used to make chapatis for us still Baba used to get hot 2 pieces from nearby tandoor shops and eat with mutabbal, zatar and jubnah. I also used to relish when I grew up. It's about 40yrs back. Today I am in India. Enjoying those eats what I didn't used to get in my days abroad, but the love of this unique, tasty and healthy eish brought me here. Thank You ya Raees!!

@KitchenYousEgyptianCooking

Hi dr.Diana thank you for your comment yes this is semolina
You don’t mix the salt with yeast because the salt will kill the reduce it or kill it so yo you mix the salt with dry items like flour

The baladi was really nice! I did use 450 ml of lukewarm water and maybe next time I will use even more, because the dough was pretty stiff. But they puffed up really nice in the pan. Shukran habibi@@KitchenYousEgyptianCooking

Hello my friend, the use of water depends on the type of flour, not all types of flour have the same amount of water.
I will definitely try this recipe 🙏 (without robot 😅💪)

Can this bread be baked in the oven versus cooked on the stove?
@KitchenYousEgyptianCooking

Hi Venice I think it not work good in the oven The temperature in a normal oven is not high enough to make the bread puff up But you can try after you do it you can tell me good luck 👍🙂

I was not able to get mine to puff up on the stove so I put a cookie sheet upside down in my oven and then heated up my oven to 525°F. I let it stay there for about 20 minutes before I started to cook them in my oven. They puffed up beautifully then. Not sure why they wouldn’t puff up on the stove. The semolina burnt and then the bread did too without ever puffing.
