    Amazing, I really like that it looks like each cell is supported by the case. I've seen other vertical-style batteries where they stack the cells on top of each other with no support. That's a lot of weight on the bottom cells. EG4 did it right 👍

    That’s for sure. I couldn’t find anything I would have done differently. Aside from making it lighter. 😁

    Very cool! I've been wondering if anyone was actually gonna open one of these up! I was just as surprised as you were to see that there was essentially a double cover. Glad to see it though. The inside of the battery looks very well-built. I am surprised though that there's no type of isolation on the cover in case something hits/dents the cover. Could be a very bad day if the cover comes in contact with those battery terminals. Thanks for sharing!

    I thought of that but didn’t mention it in the video. The lid is reinforced with a rail. And it’s spaced off fairly far from the cells because it sits on the outer rim. So you’d have to smash it with something terribly bad. And even then I think the rail would make contact with the center support and not the cells.

    I should have elaborated more probably. Lifpo generally doesn’t have any issues with fire. But in case there was some issue those are fire extinguishers. So it’s a bit of extra insurance.

    Good video I’ve been wondering what the inside of one of those were thank you very much. But my curiosity is killing me. How in the heck did you get that in the upright position by yourself as for me when I order my system I’ll have one and I’m trying to figure out how I would get that off the pallet and upright all by myself 😱. If you have an idea, please let me know. I kind of have a little age on my self and not as strong as I used to be lol. Once again, that was a very good video. Ken

    The tipping weight isn’t nearly as heavy as the whole battery. So I grabbed the top rope and tipped it up. Certainly heavy, but not terrible.

    Was there compression straps binding the cells together. Do they still do that? I noticed your DIY battery was not strapped together. On my CALB cells I placed big stainless steel clamps around it because I thought that what I was supposed to do??? Great video. I just helped a good ol boy order three of these PowerPro’s.

  • @GavinStoneDIY

    Most people still compress their cells. I just saw some literature that would suggest it isn’t really necessary. So I didn’t do it in my diy pack. There is still a lot of differing opinions on that. The cells are bound in the power pro yes. And it looked like they have a plate that holds the cells in place since they are designed to stack on their side. It’s a really neat design.

    I have a rack of 6 Lifepower batteries. Can I add on of these along with them and still maintain BMS communication?

  • @GavinStoneDIY

    @GavinStoneDIY

    There are some things in the works I believe. But honestly they have different charging parameters. So it’s not ideal. The lifepower models can now pair with the LL’s. But they don’t mesh completely. You lose a little charge on the top end.

    I had ordered two of the PowerPro WallMount batteries back in October and was told the expected delivery would not be until late December, so I purchased 32 EVE LF280K cells and 2 JK BMS from Docan Power. I like the batteries but they have no communication with the EG4 18KPV. What are your plans for the DIY batteries?

  • @GavinStoneDIY

    @GavinStoneDIY

    That’s another reason I am changing batteries. I really want the communication at this point. I may be selling them on marketplace. There’s a church member that may need them. So I’m not totally sure yet.

    Jenny Wu from Docan Tech has been asking me if I plan on getting 32 more cells. I am not sure. However, JK make a BMS that communicates through CAN Bus now. I really like the build quality of the PowerPro so it may come down to price. It would be nice if a fellow believer buys your DIY Battery bank.

    How big of a deal is it laying the cells on their sides? If the vents were to leak it could drop liquid more likely than upright batts?

  • @GavinStoneDIY

    No. It’s actually fine having them on their sides. No leaking issues. Upside down though you would have problems.

    If it’s anything like other batteries I’ve looked at, there’s a large window. Usually if it’s anything above 50% it will show as the next level up. I can look into that more as I hook them up.

    I just bought 4 Apexium DIY Cases with the new JK-Inverter BMS with 200 amps and 2 amp active balancing for $435 each. They will talk with my 18K PV that bring my total build cost to $8,792 for 60 kilowatts of EVE LF280K cells with direct communications to the Inverter. DIY is still king. We saved over $6,500 over commercial built batteries, with the same functionality.
